You are nothing but a number here. Do not enroll. They lie to get you in the door. The counselors do not support the students and they are not honest. My daughter should be going into another set of courses but they now "don't have seats available". Weird how she's been enrolled all semester and they knew she'd need another set of classes. Go to any other school. You're nothing but a number here!

Such a great school. Teachers and staff are so supportive and interactive with the community. School is patrolled by campus police so very safe. There a variety of after school activities. My fav part is how active the PTSO is in putting together community events.

My junior high student did not have any highly qualified or certified teachers for two years. And believe me it showed. Staff turnover is insanely high due to management and the students suffer. School meals are literally a piece of white bread with a slice of cheese, or maybe some tomato sauce thrown on it. Facilities are filthy. There has been a piece of cheese thrown onto a ceiling tile in a Girls bathroom ceiling for theee years.

The ONLY thing good about this school is being able to take college classes and ASU will pay for them. They are overwhelmed -not enough staff to students for counselors (these counselors work 7th-12th grade) so they are stretched thin and hard to get in to see them to prep for college etc. They require them to take a junior and senior seminar class-not required for graduation and trying to take the place of meeting with a counselor one on one for college prep conversations. If you are a working parent there are ZERO options for after school (unless you do a sport which is very few). Several students walk to the college Student Union to work on homework or grab a snack which now the school is banning and doing checks. (One bad apple can ruin it for all-however I don’t think the school officials can say anything as the student has a walking pass and can leave campus yo walk else where and as long as said student is not being a disruption there should be no issue). They change the calendar schedule and start/end times every year. This upcoming school year Good Friday is no longer being offered as a no school day. And this coming calendar year they are releasing students at 12:30 vs 2:15pm which makes it even harder on families. They go through PE teachers like water. The junior high section does not prepare the kids for high school at all-the kids don’t learn anything and the teachers rely on computer programs to teach the kids in some classes. They will never respond in email even if you have questions to a teacher. Too afraid to be caught saying something they shouldn’t-super shady!I had really high hopes and if it wasn’t for the free college we would not be there. My student will attend his last year this coming school year because he’s graduating early. If it wasn’t for the education he got at Basis school previously that put him ahead we would have pulled out awhile ago. However my student will graduate with two years of college under his belt (huge savings). However I’m removing my 8th grader-transferring to Chandler school district for high school. She is not ahead on her classes and her mental health is more important that some free college classes. She desires a more “normal” high school with cheer teams and such. This school is only good for the free college classes you can get out them to pay. It really lacks in a lot which is sad!

I cannot wait to pull my child out of this school. With an exception of a handful of good teachers (who are leaving at the end of the school year) most of the teachers are uncooperative and do not communicate at all.

I would rate my experience an 8/10 overall. Also, the data about the SAT, ACT, and college-boundness is completely wrong. At this school, it is required to apply to the 3 state universities and by the end of the year, every single senior has confirmed acceptance into a college. We are also required to take the PSAT sophomore and junior year, the SAT senior year, and the ACT junior year. I don't know where this website got its data, it's all wrong. Also the reason why the AP course participation is so low is because the school follows the British Cambridge curriculum instaed of the American curriculum.

This may sound a little cheesy, but this school has changed my life for the better. I came from a bad school, and this was a complete turn around for me. I joined ASU Prep in 7th grade, and ever since I have improved in so many ways. I've improved academically, personally, emotionally, and mentally. I am no longer the quiet kid that resented school with all of my being. I can wake up every morning, and want to go to school here. I feel safe at this school, and welcomed by the teachers and fellow students. This school is definitely challenging in terms of academics, but the teachers here want to see the students do their best. They offer as much help as they can to help the student do the best that they can do. This was a shock to me when I first came here. The teachers actually care, and that means a lot. It's crazy how something so simple can completely change a student's outlook. Just knowing that your teacher wants what's best for the student makes them want to do their best. This school can be sometimes disorganized, as they will send reminders for events the day of, or not even notify the students of an event happening until last minute. However, ASU Prep's faults are minor, and it has way more pluses than minuses. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone, especially to those who are coming from a rough place. This school completely changed me for the better, and for that, thank you ASU Prep.

I like the Cambridge Curriculum which is why we put my son here. He is currently a gifted student and he definitely had the ability to succeed at this school. However, it appears that they accept all the students that have been expelled or suspended from other schools so there a few bad apples among exceptional students. This is too bad because it affect the overall performance of the students who want to focus on their education. I removed my son from this school mid-year because he continually got bullied and nothing was done about it. The bullying was reported to 2 teachers, the counselor and the principal and still nothing was done to resolve the issue. This student has gotten into multiple altercations with other students including a girl that he hit and he is still at ASU prep. The previous review was incorrect - my son received all his credits from the 1st half of the year when he transferred out of ASU prep as a matter of fact he is ahead in some classes. Overall I think ASU prep offers a good education, but I think they need to review what a "zero tolerence" policy actually means. There seems to be some favoritism with certain students.

I like the Cambridge Curriculum which is why we put our son here. It helps to develop critical thinking and communication skills. You do need to be aware though that they grade on a yearly grade. If you move during the school year your child will not have a grade and may have to repeat coursework. The school is focused exclusively on the students entering university directly from high school and is very prejudicial against community college. They recruit quite heavily for the students to apply at ASU. They also do not seem to understand that not all of their students come from high income families. Students are allowed to take ASU (university) classes for credit their junior and senior years (if they qualify) but must pay full price . They are not allowed to take community college classes for high school credit. They charge $150/sport and do not allow you to apply that towards your Arizona Tax Credit. I'm giving them four stars because I do believe my son is receiving a good education. We would probably feel more comfortable in a school with a more diverse economic mix and one that understands that not everyone can afford to go directly to a four year university.
