Our family has been with Legacy Gilbert for 12 years, with all four of our children attending. Over that time, we’ve seen a troubling decline in the school’s values and environment. Staff often seem dismissive, unhelpful, and even condescending toward both parents and students. Communication is severely lacking, and concerns are frequently ignored. The school has a high turnover rate of teachers and administrators, and the remaining staff often seem impatient or unwilling to support students who need help.After being at the school for so long, we’ve tried to address our concerns through the proper channels, but we are left feeling continually frustrated and ignored. With only 1.5 years left for our youngest child, who is now in 7th grade, we don’t want to uproot him, but we can no longer tolerate these ongoing failures.One example is a current teacher who has made inappropriate comments in class and reduced a student to tears multiple times—behavior that has gone unaddressed. It often feels like students are held to much higher standards than the teachers or staff. When kids struggle, they’re met with frustration instead of encouragement, creating an anxious and unsupportive learning environment.There is so much more I could go on and on about, and dozens of other families have also left over these same concerns. Legacy used to focus on character-building and a strong sense of community, but it seems to have lost sight of these values. Families considering this school should be aware of the lack of communication, staff turnover, and the culture of frustration and dismissal that has taken hold in recent years. We hope the leadership will finally take these issues seriously and make meaningful changes for the sake of current and future students.

If you want your child bullied and the school to do little to nothing about it, then, by all means, send your kid here. The kids in elementary school and junior high are out of hand and the teachers do little to nothing to hold their behaviors accountable or enforce consequences. A child in 3rd grade attempted to strangle one of his peers and was suspended for only a few days. He returned to school, brought a knife with him, pulled it on the kids that he strangled, and told them he would cut their heads off if they told on him again. When parents called the front desk to notify them of what happened and that there was a child on the campus in possession of a knife, they told parents "Are you sure this is an emergency?!". Parents had to call the police to report it, not the school. The school was supposed to implement a safety plan with this child when he returned from his suspension, that included searching his belongings. However, that never happened!

My child started Legacy for Kindergarten in 2021. It was hard as a parent because with Covid we were not allowed on campus at first, but my son came home happy every day and he learned a lot. I respect how they got back to normal as soon as possible with no masks and opening up the school to parents. I volunteer there often now that he is in 1st Grade, so I get to see in person how things are done. The school far exceeds my expectations with staff, campus, activities and special events. His teacher Ms. Bollig is amazing. I was concerned about the class size of 32 until I saw her in action, and she has an aid to help. We feel blessed we chose this school from the multiple options we had in the Gilbert area. Bottom line, my son loves going to school and is learning so much, which are the most important things.

This school is going downhill FAST. This has become a business instead of a school. Our children are not thought of and neither is their staff. Just enroll more children whether they fit in the building or not, to make more money.The curriculum works well with some students but can be challenging for students who need more attention.SPANISH/ART/Computers: Are just a way to keep kids busy. No one can learn a language by attending a class for 1 day a month. Both my 2nd and 4th grade children were learning the same lesson for Spanish. Art is taught in their rooms as there is no more room in the school. I used to see more creativity coming out of this class. Today, I don't see anything. Computer Lab is shared with Library. Imagine a Library Class and a Computer class going on at the same time. At this day and age there should be a separate computer lab. Again, no sufficient space as they need to bring in more bodies to get more money. MOZART: Too many children, 1 music teacher, too many instruments, how can they learn?Class sizes are so large there is no way these kids can get the appropriate attention. There is a high turnover in Teachers and I believe it to be because of the low morale. No one is allowed to speak up and if you do, you are dismissed or discouraged from it. I'm saying this as a parent but I believe the teachers feel the same way. When teachers start to leave the school in the middle of a school year, I believe that's when someone needs to ask themselves, what is going on? When children start to bully the teachers and no repercussions happen?When raw, burnt, expired food is being fed to the children and NO ONE SAYS A THING.When the size of the classes is large (38:1) but more children are allowed to enroll?When fundraising happens but what they say will get updated never does?Really we have to ask ourselves, what is going on?

My kids have gone to this school for a couple years and for a couple years It was great. However the principal moved last year and the school has gone into a tailspin. Packed classrooms 30-35 kids accepting problem kids from other schools to get their numbers up. My kids have all told me they want to leave. A problem I didn’t have before I told them to finish out this sentence and I’ll get them into a new school for next year. :(

Disappointing in the end. I taught there for a few years. The curriculum at this school is antiquated. It does not develop collaboration. It does not promote divergent thinkers.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time at Legacy, and sad to graduate from it. The school adheres closely to it's stated mission, and offers a wonderful environment for students willing and able to learn.

This school is weak on accommodations for students. This school is not required to teach every student based on needs. Legacy can pick and choose who they want to provide an education for. Not a free and appropriate public education for all students only the students they choose.

No buses. No free and reduced lunches. It's quite clear what kind of student this "traditional" academy wants and what kind of student it doesn't. 21st century segregation. Sad that my tax money is going to a place like this that blatantly refuses to educate all kids. Well, keep on making America great again, Legacy!

This is our 3rd year at Legacy and we absolutely LOVE it! The curriculum is outstanding and very challenging. The teachers are highly qualified and well trained. We love the after school clubs. The Mozart Track (music program) is awesome and so is the Athlos PE track! We love that our kids have flag raising ceremony everyday and that the teachers use positive reinforcement in the classroom. Front office staff is awesome too!

Caring teachers and a rigorous, accelerated curriculum. My son has been incredibly successful and has been attending since kindergarten He is now a year ahead of his peers in other schools and thriving!

Great school! My daughter started when she was in 6th grade and now she is in 7th I'm so happy to see how all the teachers giver her the extra help she needs specially in her math skills.

My kids started at the Athlos Legacy school 5 years ago, and moved to Legacy Gilbert when it opened. I am so very pleased with all of the staff. The teachers are wonderful and truly get the best out of my kids. The administration is very approachable, and the front desk staff are second to none! I have highly recommended the Legacy schools and will continue to do so!

My daughter started at Legacy in 2nd grade. She is now a 5th grader. Every year I see Legacy taking students, parents, and teachers concerns or suggestions to heart. Each year Legacy has grown and developed beautifully. The structured environment paired with a "homey" feeling is what I love. This school holds a special place in my heart.

Wonderful teachers and staff! I can drop my son off knowing that he is in good hands. The school emails a newsletter EVERY Wednesday so parents always know what is going on.

I just enrolled my daughter at Legacy Traditional-Gilbert- And all I can say is WOW I am truly impressed with EVERYTHING thus far. All the first graders learn the same curriculum , and I am able to follow along with my daughter as all her materials are available online. Every team member that I have interacted with has a smile on their face, every teacher, front office, lunch aid and the school maintenance as well. Just a sign of great leadership from the top down. Everyone is always smiling. My daughter came from a public school and was not up to speed on some curriculum that is being taught at Legacy and the teacher took ownership and is tutoring her once a week to get her there, it wasn't pawned off to me. Don't get this wrong they send home HW slips each night so we can sign and they hold us parents accountable as well. I love when my baby comes home after her day and says "dad I had a great day at school" she actually looks forward to the next day!!! I highly recommend what Legacy has to offer. If you have the opportunity to enroll your child don't hesitate. Thanks Ms Merill and Mrs. Stevens and the rest of the team at Legacy-Gilbert!
