We absolutely love Power Ranch. The staff and teachers truly care about the kids. Our son is now in second grade and we've had nothing but positive experiences with his teachers each year.

It has steadily declined to poor. My oldest daughter (now nearly 19) attended for a few years, and now my 2 younger kids have known no other school (currently 5th and 1st grades). From 2005 to now, they've had more teacher turnovers then I can keep up with, 3 different principals, at least 2 different vice principals that I'm aware of and 5 different nurses! My 10 year old is a Type 1 Diabetic. He was diagnosed at 3 years old. I was terrified when he was to start kindergarten and it meant I'd have to entrust his care to some stranger. Not that school nurses aren't capable and wonderful people, it wouldn't have mattered their credibility, I'd have been scared nonetheless. I voiced these concerns to the principal at the time and was assured that I could set a meeting with their nurse well ahead of time, to put my mind at ease. I was nervous, but grateful for their understanding. Then I met (we'll call her nurse 1). She was AMAZING! Sweet, kind, patient, compassionate... all the things you'd truly want in anyone responsible for your child's well-being in your stead. She called me frequently, daily, with updates and reports. She kept in great communication. My son's diabetes was very well- controlled and best of all, my son adored her! She was the first person, outside of his mother, to help him with his diabetes. A daily struggle for him and whether he'd have been able to voice it or not, a situation that must have also made him anxious and scared. They clicked so well. A bond that, combined with an amazing kindergarten teacher who also handled the situation fabulously, that made his first year of school, a complete and total success! At the end of the year, tearful goodbyes were exchanged because my son was devastated he wouldn't see them ALL summer. He was comforted by the fact that he'd see them again next year. He clung to that fact through the entire summer, writing them notes and drawing them pictures, so they'd see how much he practiced and was improving, and to tell them all about his summer fun! I didn't need to schedule another meeting with his nurse prior to Meet The Teacher night for 1 grade, because I already knew she was dynamite! She left. Was told she was NOT allowed to tell ANY of her students she was leaving. How hard it was, but she just couldn't stay. Couldn't say why. So many unhappy teachers and staff. Why? It used to be great...

My daughter excelled here every year. The teachers and administration care abou the students and build community that can't be beat. I loved the neighborhood feel and the fact that kids walk and ride their bicycles to school, they still say the Pledge of Allegience and parents are very involved - from volunteering, to working at the school and helping with the various events. It's a great school! Believe in your community school, involve yourself in your community school and it becomes a great place.

I see my child is successful right now. I have brought my children here two years before with no English.

I can not thank this school enough for what they did for my two daughters. We came from a horrible Charter school (LEA) in QC that told me not to expect my daughter to read till fourth grade (while trying to retain her in second). Then we came to Power Ranch... no more tears, hope, reading, and excelling. The staff at Power Ranch is just amazing. :) Every school has its problems, the difference is they care to try to fix them. I am just so grateful to see my children find their love of learning again.

Power Ranch has been such a spectacular experience for our family. We love the community feel of the neighborhood school, teachers, and administration. There are many, many parent volunteers at the school. The current principal and vp work hard to hire top notch teachers and staff. The district is extremely innovative with technology and preparation for the new Common Core standards. Lastly, our children are very high learners. We truly appreciate how they are challenged, at all levels, on a daily basis here. Power Ranch Elementary is a class act.

I have 4 children who are currently or in the past have been at Power Ranch over the last 6 years. Overall I think it is a good school. Over the years there has been issues with bullying and teacher/principal turnover, but I have seen some positive outcomes and improvements in the past couple of years. Any bullying we experienced was dealt with very quickly and effectively. I met the new principal at curriculum night and she seems to be very well qualified and professional. I like the emphasis of catching the kids doing good instead of always harping on what they are doing wrong. I have also seen a big improvement in communication from the teachers to me, the parent. I think the gifted program will be moving in a much better direction, too. Plenty of opportunities for parent and community involvement. And, thank goodness, many people do help out. It seems there is always a great turnout for school functions.

we have 2 children in PR elementary and have been thrilled with the teachers and parent involovement. I am concerned for the future because once again we are going though a change in principle and teacher staffing. Why are we having such a hard time keeping good teachers???

There are amazing teachers at Power Ranch and it is constantly improving, Where there is a lot of community involvement in schools and support it will continue to do well.
