This school is amazing. Definitely has some of the best teachers you can find. Mr. Abejuela has a pull-up bar in his classroom and challenges students not only mentally but physically. Mr. Dissalvo always presents both sides to any argument so we could form our own opinions and even let us debate in the middle of class often. Mr. Wendel wrote a song and sang it with his guitar for our class at the end of the year, it was hilarious! Mr. Graham was an amazing science teacher and made learning about moles and the periodic table interesting. Ms. Alvarez was the most passionate teacher who ensured that each and every student had the help they needed to pass her class. Finally, Mr. Rivero always had a smile on his face and being in his class, even during Saturday school, brought happiness.

Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Merced High School and graduated in 2011. I was able to experience a variety of great teachers and learned skills I wasn't aware some schools don't have as a standard. They prepare students for jobs with mock interviews, resumes, cover letters and we covered a course on how to get into stocks. There was cooking and a home living elective class as well as many others. The school was also available to special need students and even though their classes were separate, they encouraged us all to have healthy interactions with eachother. So we'd have rallies and special events together. Another good benefit to the student is that the school has an open campus policy that gave Juniors and Seniors privileges to leave the campus during lunch as an insentive and if your academics are poor then you'd get the privilege revoked. If you are doing poorly in school, we have great counselors who care about your academics as long as you show an interest in wanting to succeed. They are also attentive to last year students, so that they are all prepared to graduate or even move on to other career paths. I received all these benefits as a student before the new high school was built and there was about 30 student average per teacher, so I can only imagine how great of an education these students can get going to Merced High School now with the new gym being built and a much more breathable school environment.

This school is simple and a bit old compared to the nearby schools. It has some problems such as old rooms and such stuff but overall appearance wise this school is okay. I like how the original Merced High School is the best overall school wise in the county. This school could improve by having more school spirit and landscape. In the old days this school actually had flowers!
