It’s been a horrible experience thus far and mostly because of the directors

My 2 and 3 year old (almost 4) children go here. I love their teachers and Lori is always responsive to any questions I have. The other day my 2 year old counted to 10 when I was counting with the 3 year old. The teachers here will be greatly missed in a couple of years.

I am McHenry Montessori's Director and was present at the movie theatre. This post is false and not about our school, there were several other daycares who were also present at this movie. It is very simple for anyone to post an anonymous false review because they don't have to actually sign their name to it.

If my children were attending this school I would like to know how they are talked to by the staff. This morning I attended a movie in town with my own children. Also in our theatre were staff and students from McHenry Montessori. WOW! I couldn't believe how one teacher, in particular, was speaking to the CHILDREN. "SIT DOWN!" "STOP TALKING" (these phrases were often spoken through her teeth). At one point the students were trying to tell her that someone within their group (a child) had gotten his arm stuck in the seat. She didn't listen to them right away because she was too busy telling them to "stop talking." She also liked to count how many times she had to get up to help a CHILD with something throughout the movie. She seemed very irritated that she had to get up 4 times during the movie and told any child who asked for her help that she wasn't getting up again. Was her expectation to kick up her feet and enjoy a movie while at work? Montessori schools are meant to be a calm, nurturing and positive environment. I didn't see any of those key principles displayed today.

My two children attend McHenry Montessori . I have a infant and a seven year old. The same infant staff cared for both of my children so that really speaks alot to me regarding staff consistency. My children love their school and have progressed an excellent rate. My older child is reading at two grades above his grade level. The teachers and staff are attentive to my children's needs and to my questions and concerns as a parent. I have always been very satisfied with the staff and the Director. I frequently see the director interacting with the children as I am picking up my own children. This school has a small family like setting and most of the teachers and assistants are long term with their own children enrolled too. I have always been impressed with the curriculum and the classroom organization. I am an educated and informed parent and toured other schools in the area before deciding on McHenry Montessori but am extremely happy with my decision and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality education for their child.

Very disappointed with this school, constantly changing teachers around and too many children in one room with not enough supervision. Pulled our child out due to lack of supervision. The times I have gone in to talk to the director she was never there, seems to come and go as she pleases. The cleanliness of the school seemed to vary from room to room and as the other post says this IS NOT a montessori school!!! The couple of teachers they had who seemed knowledgeable in montessori are no longer there. If you need a temporary place until you find something better this school fits into that category, but I would not put my child back in until something was done with the staff and director.
