My immediate and extended family attend Landmark elementary. The school provides a year round program that offers shorter summer break with more frequent breaks during the year. They also have looping teachers. This means your student has the same teacher for 2 years. These things combined is a recipe for major growth in our children. My students have a closer relationship with their teacher, other teachers in the building and other students- not just in their grade. Children in my family that may have struggled in large school with a traditional calendar have truly bloomed at this school. We love landmark .

This school has been an excellent learning environment for our daughter. She is thriving, and she' become more confident. I believe the multi-age classrooms play a large roll in the development of her confidence. She's made great friends, her teachers are supportive, the school community is truly a family. We couldn't be happier, especially our daughter.

Our kids started school at another school in McHenry's district and both we and they were so unhappy there. Since transferring them to Landmark, we have seen such growth both academically and socially. It is so nice to hear that your kids have had a great day when they get off the bus. The teachers, principal, and overall atmosphere is so different than the other McHenry schools. The calendar allows them time for a break in between quarters, minimizing burnout. The school as a whole has a private school feel to it with the level of care and community. With test scores as good as Landmark's I am surprised that the entire district hasn't adopted this format.
