Wow! This school is off the charts amazing. Such incredible staff and teachers. The PTA is so spirited, creating fun activities for the children to enjoy. My kids absolutely love it here. I feel so fortunate to a part of this school's community. The feeling here is warm and kind. People really care about each other. I'm so glad this is my children's first experience in school. We really lucked out.

We're very happy with our experience with Delevan so far. Our son has been there for two years, and our daughter is joining in the fall. The teachers are incredibly thoughtful and engaged with the students and parents. The families and the PTA really go above and beyond with everything from class activities and trips to school-wide events. One of the things that drew us to the area was that family friends of ours had tried out different schools nearby and sought out this one specifically, even though it wasn't their home district. That really piqued our curiosity and led us to research the school more. Part of the campus is currently under renovation, and we've been closely keeping track of the building project as it gets underway. The new planned facilities seem like they will be really wonderful. All in all, we're really glad we found the school and look forward to our kids spending their elementary-school years here.

I went to this school way back in the 60s. I loved it and live close so I visit the area often. Of course alot has changed but I remember the Science Center and that other schools used to come to visit the science center for f field trips. I am glad to see that it is still a good school as I had a great experience there. I had a crush on my 5th grade teacher who was the coolest ever. There are alot more buildings now on the playground. When I was there it was all open playground and only the 2 story buildings that are there. Keep up the good work Delevan, you are the best.

We saw them all - public, private, charter, magnet, charter-magnet, and still ended up at Delevan because it's got the best academics out there. (Also it's pretty much the only elementary school with open enrollment in NELA!) And the arts & science programs they brand really well elsewhere, they have those too, just not in as shiny a package. The school is getting a new building though, and working towards International Baccalaureate accreditation, which would bring foreign language education to the school too. Lots of good things happening. Take a tour and check it out!

My son loves learning here! Teacher and staff have worked together with us to find solutions whenever he's had a hard time adapting in the classroom. We've seen involved families, great academics, and an adaptive approach to teaching that focuses on the kids' needs. Says a lot that teachers want to stay here for years or even decades, even when a lot of staff development is required for new programs & tech.

My son is in his first year at Delevan and we are so happy with our experience. I'm trying to be involved with the school and have gotten to know a bit of the lay of the land and as I learn more, I get so excited for my son to continue here. Each grade level has excellent and dedicated teachers. The principal is amazing. Ms Woo knows all the children and is so kind and warm to them. She is also very focused on high achievement from her students and staff and is always thinking about how to best prepare our kids for the future. Every staff member is going above and beyond. This is a great school for social-emotional development and for strong academics. They have a lot of great changes happening like a new building and becoming an International Baccelearte school. I highly recommend this small and wonderful school.

I love the school, hate the principal. Never has there been such poor leadership by someone who is so unqualified and lacks knowledge. Delevan deserves so much better and a change is needed like the previous wonderful principal. Ms. Woo the current principal is the most disconnected and unqualified principal.

After touring and considering about a dozen schools, we immediately felt a "fit" at Delevan. The administrative staff is so welcoming and knowledgeable. Her TK teacher was wonderful. It is a well-run school where they strive to meet each child's individual needs while also keeping the safety and productivity of the school population at large in mind. It has an effective balance of school-led structure and parent-led input. My daughter is thriving here, in her second year. I highly recommend the school to anyone in the area!

My wife and I must have toured at least 10 other LAUSD schools before we decided on Delevan, and I am so glad we did. Fantastic teachers and leadership! They have a very active and committed PTA too.

Delevan is a little gem in LAUSD. Long-term teachers, a large, wooded outdoor garden that the kids get to plant, and all types of kids (ethnicity, income) are thriving. Parents are involved and getting more so each year.

We were floored by this school. Seemed very average at first but after getting a tour and meeting parents, kids and some teachers we quickly realized what a gem of a school this was. We had toured 15 different schools. Private, Charters, Magnets and other public schools in our area. We had applied to all and done SAS and open enrollment where available. We got our son into Delevan through SAS (because it is not our 'home school') and then a week into him going here he was also accepted into a LFCSA (charter) as well as Community Magnet Charter. This was a tough call because both of those schools are excellent but after touring them both (again) and comparing with everything we knew about them we realized we had no reason to move our son.My advice: tour as many schools as possible to get fully educated on all your choices and then make a decision that works best for you. For us it was Delevan and we really couldn't be happier.Give me a few years and I'll come back to update!

Again and again, year after year I see kids in my neighborhood excelling as they graduate from Delevan Elementary and having the education to go on to magnet schools and advanced learning programs the education they get from this school is outstanding.

I dont understand the point rating..teachs are teaching to get 900pts ..i wounder if in Japan,japanes students are studing to earn pts . And How does one become a board member of the Pta last year more than 2/3rds where teachers & staff , idn ..other reviews said great parent partisapation , when was this 6 yrs ago With the Previous Administration..Oohh well Some people believe anything they read...Well i agree The lausd teachers should get a rase but not 18% --Please...in bazaro World maybe...& Please please dont Strike.A Strike will only hurt everyone involved ..Children rember who your working for ..

My daughter really likes her new first grade teacher Mr. Fiorillo. He is enthusiastic, great with the kids and uses his training in theater to help motivate his students. At last night s Back to School night he said he was planning five field trips for the year. Go Mr. Fiorillo!

Delevan Drive is a great school, the principal Mrs. Velasquez is friendly and hard working, and always on campus. The teachers are dedicated, experienced, and caring. Despite budget cuts there are after school activities, a garden, and an arts program. But most of all, the kids are a happy and enthusiastic, which is the surest sign of a successful school.

Delevan Drive Elementary is a wonderful learning community for our kids. The teachers make genuine connections with the students and each year our test scores continue to climb. The Principal and other support staff care about the students and are a constant presence on the playground and throughout the campus. Sometimes it seems like there aren't enough parents getting involved in school activities and events but the parents who do show up, really put in a lot of hard work and volunteer hours. This is an overall awesome school!
