We have had our son here since preschool, now third grade. Overall a great school, wonderful teachers and supportive staff. Families are very involved and good communication. Our daughter is starting soon and would be sad if we ever had to leave.

I absolutely love this school. Our child has been attending since pre-school (going into first grade) the teachers are great at communicating concerns and assisting the children. There is A LOT of parent involvement. the school is welcoming to new families. They have magnificent programs music, P.E.,planet bravo and spanish (during school hours). they also offer after school activities like boys and girls scouts, sports, band, art and choir. The school is decently up kept and Mrs. Diaz(the principal) is extremely friendly and approachable. The school has a buddy system for the younger grades this in my opinion is an incredible way to make the younger children to feel like they are a part of the community.

Our son attended transitional kindergarten at St. Dominic last year. We had a wonderful experience. Mrs. Velasco was an amazing teacher! We couldn't have asked for a better person to start off our Child's academic journey. He learned leaps and bounds. The principal Mrs. Diaz who just joined the team is a refreshing addition to a close knit school of parents who want a nurturing environment for their kids. Our son Just started kindergarten and we are looking forward to his growth not just academically but spiritually. So glad to be part of this school.

My son attended kinder last year and I was amaze by the way he was taugh. Ms. Serafin is a very well prepare teacher and will go above and beyond to teach your kids. Ms. Diaz is an excellent principal, very approchable and always willing to listen to your concerns. Very safe school and a lot of new changes :) parent

I currently have a preschooler attending St. Dominics and I am more than impressed in the program and school as a whole so far. My child has learned a lot since being here both academically and socially. There is a TON of parent involvement, much more than both public and charter schools. It feels so good knowing my child is getting a great education, is in a safe and loving environment, and I feel very included in everything as the parent. My child has blossomed so much in just one semester and I am excited to see where he will go from here.! Great School, the not so great reviews below really don't give it justice. As a parent and an educator, I highly recommend this school to anyone!!

I'm writing this as an education professional and also as a parent. I have also been a section editor for the WASC accreditation process for the independent school I have taught at for the last 7 years. The preschool did an outstanding job nurturing my child's education. My son's ability to decode language and exposure to number sense is commensurate with a kindergarten curriculum elsewhere. Ms. Velasco and Ms. Serafin both exposed the children to Science concepts and Social Studies concepts that go beyond a typical preschool curriculum. These teachers and special helpers, Ms. Gloria and Ms. Angela also made my son feel loved and cared for before, during and after school. I also want to highlight that these teachers all had exceptional attendance records. I encourage more parents to write in about their experiences, the current rating of this school does not do it justice. I found the leadership of this school and the teachers extremely diplomatic and receptive to concerns. As a parent with a 6:00 am to 5:00 pm schedule I wish I could have been more involved in parent mtgs. and responsibilities.

When my child was attending this school, I noticed that they were very weak in teaching English classes. Such as strong essays, comprehension, etc. Also my child did not learn much geography, like the states and their capitals on a map. Some teachers are not very good at what they teach, or lack the knowledge they need to teach the subject. Other parents and I had problems with the principal. This school has lost many families because of the principal, but by reading the reviewers before me, I guess the school has gained families too. My child just graduated from St. Dominic's very recently. Also my child was not fully prepared for high school.

I agree with previous parent, we are seeing positive changes. Teachers are caring and enjoy what they do. Our family has been in the Catholic private school system for many years and I can only say that there is a difference between public and private Catholic schools. My siblings and I went through the public school system and I know that the teachings are so very different. Here at St. Dominic it's about respect, moral values, and learning. Our kids are in a safe, caring environment which is priceless. All schools go through uniform, logo, mascot changes so it's not unusual. Yes, there is fundraising but that is part of all private schools, from elementary through high school. It is the parents that make things happen. So, you have a choice to be here or not because you are paying for their education. Public schools have very little of this involvement and parents are not required to participate if they want. It is your choice to either be a vital part of your child's education or just sit back and complain and let others do the work. St. Dominic's is always happy to receive doers, leaders. We the parents have a choice, so make it a good one!!! GO SAINTS !!!

I'm not sure what the reviewer below is talking about. Kids aren't leaving the school, on the contrary, we just opened 2 pre-school classes and the school had to turn away some kids because too many wanted to enroll. Teachers are awesome and the principal is doing her job just the way she should be. We did a great job at the Academic Decathlon and students are happy. St. Dominic's may not be the best school but it is definitely a great school and a school we can be definitely be proud of!

The teacher student ratio is wonderful 25 to 1 max. This has been very helpful with my childs education. The test scores continue to rise! Real excited about the extended school year cant wait to see the effects. Met some of the New teachers real happy with the new focus on tangible results.

With the new Pastor on board.....The school is moving in the right direction. Happy with the new focus and direction. The principle can do her job now and the change is all positive. The cleaning up of the front office was the best thing to happen. The new front office staff real helpful and positive.

this school is really about raising funds. too many fees to pay. but yet, you don't see improvements, the staff is unfriendly, the principal is unapproachable and their # 1 priority is not about student academics, but how can we raise funds? show us where you putting all these funds..and stop charging fees we don't meet the quota..its so ridiculous.
