Adminstrators in this school are a joke!! They should be all fired!! It used to be a great school before new admistration. Teachers spend more time out of school then in. Kids are taught by substitute teachers than the actually assigned teacher. I have no clue how this school is receiving good reviews. I have seen "D" schools more organized and better adminstration. It's a shame because of all the money we pay to live in a better area. To have a sub-standard school.

This school is wonderful. Fabulous teachers and administrators. There is a tremendous sense of community and parent involvement. Wekiva Elementary and the surrounding Wekiva community are top notch.

We moved to the area a few years ago for the schools. Wekiva has been such a blessing to our family. Our children are thriving, the teachers are wonderful and the administration is personable and friendly and meets parental concerns with the openness required during this challenging time. The school as a whole and the community you become a part of by attending really is the best.

Used to be good school few years back. Currently the school teachers and principle needs to do a lot of introspect since I have been listening a lot of negativity.

The teachers at Wekiva are such a joy. The Administration on the other hand are awful!! The principle looks mad all the time & rarely speaks to parents when she sees us. The school is not what it used to be & I am not sure why with all the reviews the Admin get that she is still the principle & hasn't been moved to a middle school or high school where she is better suited!

I enrolled my daughter at this school for kindergarten and was so thoroughly discouraged with it that I pulled her in December and taught the rest of kindergarten through Florida Virtual School until I found a school I was happier with. At Kindergarten orientation, we found out that since there were too many students than were allowed, that they would put all of the overage into one kindergarten classroom so there were way too many in there 'until enough students drop out.' There was a very large bullying problem with my daughter being criticized and teased mercilessly with no action by teachers. The kindergarten classes are not in individual classrooms but in a massive room that has been sectioned off and the noise is prohibitive. The education itself was okay and I believe that the teachers are doing their best. The impression I got was that the teachers are micromanaged and overruled by the principal and that there is very little individual autonomy for creativity and control.

Wekiva elementary is not the good school it used to be 5-10 years ago. My son's 1st grade experience has also thus far been deplorable and a complete disappointment just like the other parent posted. Clueless and out of touch are the only words that comes to mind when dealing with this school.

Wekiva is an excellent school, all the way around. I agree with the other reviewers about our excellent teachers and our terrific parent involvement. Because some of the older reviews mention that the gifted program is "not worth it," I feel compelled to write that the gifted program has changed for the better over the past few years. It has been transformed from a once a week "enrichment" class to an all day, every day, accelerated class, taught by gifted-certified teachers. The gifted students and other bright, high-achieving students are clustered together in one or two classes per grade. Clustering the kids by ability allows the teachers to challenge all the students, instead of teaching to the lowest common denominator, and my children are enjoying school so much more now. The school's gifted coordinator is amazing and still provides extra enrichment activities to most of the gifted classes once a week (not in 5th grade, though).

Unlike the poster below, we have had a great experience with Wekiva. We, too, purchased a home specifically because of the school. Great extracurricular offerings, solid teachers, strong parental involvement -- it all adds up to an excellent experience. The almost-constant barrage of fundraising events gets tiresome, but you have to give the staff and PTA credit for making sure things are done to make up for the shortsightedness of Seminole County residents(and state government officials) who seem unconcerned with the public education system. All in all, an excellent school.

Purchased a home in the Wekiva area after reading the some of the excellent reviews on this elementary school. My son's kindergarten and 1st grade experience thus far have been deplorable. A complete disappointment. We will be relocating for the 2012/2013 just so that my son does not have to attend this school again.

We are thrilled with this excellent school! My husband and I, and our three kids, have recently moved to the Wekiva area. I have two kids that attend Wekiva Elementary, and we are very pleased with the school thus far. One of my children has Autism and has an IEP in place from another school, Wekiva and their excellent staff have worked tirelessly to make sure everything has gone like clockwork for our child. The staff is incredible! The teachers are engaged, caring and very enthusiastic. The parents are all very friendly and my kids are making tons of friends. I highly recommend Wekiva - both the school and the area!

My husband and I actually left this school and went to another one due to the purchase of a house. However, after being at the new school for 2 years we decided we had to move back into Wekiva's area. The administrators, teachers and other staff are not only professional and engaging with the children but show an obvious love for what they do. The parents are involved in so many different ways and levels that it is amazing what this school can do. We will never move our childre out of this school again and highly recommend it!
