We truly love Century School. Our daughter loves her teachers and her 13 classmates in her mixed classroom. We appreciate that we can both work outside the home full-time and still send our daughter to school. Honestly, we do not know how other parents work and work around the LPS schedule - Wednesday early dismissal, in-service days, and illness policies take their toll! Although this is a private school, when you factor in before & after school hours (CS is open 7:30AM-5:30PM M-F year-round), lunches & snacks, we're saving money. We are so grateful another parent recommended CS. Our daughter is 2 years ahead in most academics, 3 years in some - yet has no homework, no nervousness about testing or quizzes, and enjoys her time at school. Our biggest issue is getting her to try the different healthy items on the daily lunch menu since they serve fruit, veges & different main items throughout the month. It is a caring, individualized learning experience that doesn't forget that learning can be fun and that children want to learn if given the chance to flourish at their own pace. Century School is wonderful.

Best kept secret in Lawrence. My kids ENJOY going to school and are progressing very well. They are receiving a well-rounded educational foundation that is tailored to their specific learning needs. The teachers are engaging and care about the students.

Century School is fantastic! I'm impressed by how it combines new insights into educational development (i.e., computer-based learning programs and formative assessment technologies) with tried and true methodologies (such as smaller class sizes and multiple age-ranges in the classroom to allow for peer encouragement). The best thing about the school, besides its fostering a sense of community and good citizenship, is its individualized learning focus. Each child has their own file and proceeds at their own pace along the common core curriculum. This teaches them an invaluable skill set: self motivation. Once the children begin to understand that completion of academics results in some free time, they exploit the fact; inadvertently learning how to do something they don't want to do in order to gain the reward. Not only do the students begin to far exceed the general standards for their age group, they learn the basis for self-regulation -which will help them throughout their lives. My son goes there, and I have been so impressed by his progress. Not only do I recommend this school to parents, I believe that all schools should embrace its techniques.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TRUST YOUR CHILD'S EDUCATIONAL WELL BEING TO THIS SCHOOL. My son attended Century for 3 years and is now a 7th grader with serious academic deficiencies. His testing results put him at about a 3rd grade level in Math and not much better in reading. He will never catch up with his peers. This was a smart kid from very early on, not an easy one to teach, but certainly he should not have been allowed to flounder as he did at Century with absolutely no intervention. We were fed a lot of lines about how he was progressing, the whole time he was there. And progress testing was definitely done much less regularly than what they claimed. I know at one point he went over a year without testing. We are heartbroken and devastated by the academic malpractice that was committed by Century. He will never catch up to his peers. He will likely be in a world of struggle for the rest of his educational life And we spent over 18,000.00 in the name of "individualized instruction and academic growth" and have likely stunted his ability to achieve, perhaps for life. And now we are broke, as well. Do not allow your child to suffer the same fate. You will regret it.

Great individualized learning environment that uses technology guided learning. Classes combine multiple grade levels. Can be combined with school district virtual school program to keep students in sync with public school criteria. Only downside is most educators have limited formal education certifications.
