I don’t write reviews but I would like to share my honest feedback for parents thinking of enrolling their child at this school. My experience at this school hasn’t been great at all as far as employees, principal and disciplinary actions. However, the teachers have made a lot of effort into supporting the students, although I believe they needed teachers' aid at the beginning of the year. It was not until the last months of the school year that they received extra support and teacher assistance. Thought the school year, my child has been bullied. The times that I’ve gone to the office, I overhear between staff and front desk employees talking badly of parent(s) and have an attitude when speaking to students . In one occasion a parent was upset that her child got suspended when the student was acting as “self-defense” during an argument with a student. I talked with a few parents from the school and their child has also been bullied. Their form of resolution is creating distance/separation among students instead of creating friendships etc. I believe this form of discipline defeats the purpose of protecting other students as well. As far as academic because of covid-19 it has changed the dynamic of learning, students would loose interest or were easily distracted at home learning. Teachers lost connection on few occasions that disrupted the lessons. Going back to school was a complicated transitioning as my student felt anti-social because of the covid restrictions in class. During these 2 school years. The impression I get is that they lost respect and dignity for parents.I will not mentioned names for privacy reasons. On one occasion a person assisting with a bullying resolution was making false statements as I confirmed with my student; promised to follow up with both student but failed to do so. Until I brought it to her attention. That experience alone made me realize that they don’t have the best interest in supporting students with fairness and transparency. All I could say is that they need better training, school values and improved code of ethics for students and families. I finally decided it’s best to relocate and remove my student from the school. I'm going to a recommended school for this upcoming year. I really hope for everyone staying perhaps decides to participate in PTA meetings etc. to know exactly what the school is doing to improve relationships with families, employees and teachers.

10. A 10. This school is amazing if you as a parent have the right attitude.

Horrible. The staff needs to have higher expectations not only of the students but of themselves as well. Being that this school is diverse the staff needs to ensure students do not use this as a tool, threat or reason to be demeaning and hurtful to each other.

My daughter is in 5th grade. She has been attending this school since 1st grade. (She skipped kindergarten) The staff and teachers there are absolutely amazing. She was struggling in math and her teacher Ms. Peredo has been working with her non-stop to help her bring up her grade.

My child is in kindergarten and I want the best for her. The issue though is the teachers, they are starting to act like they do not want to be teachers no more. My daughter comes home constantly sad and not wanting to go back because she feels like she can never speak up, at the age of 5 that is when they are suppose to learn the importance of being able to speak out and trust an educator. This is why I would not bring my other child to this school when starting. They schools in the valley are so much better and worth the travel

If your child has special needs this school is not the best choice. Constant need of substitutes, no structure in my child's class (6th grade), and no consistency in her education plan.

Desert View Elementary School is a wonderful school. The teachers are dedicated to the students. My son had problems with another school and as soon as he started at Desert View his grades went up he became more interested in learning. I believe parents need to get more involved at the school. I personally volunteer at the school in two different classrooms and I know that if we had more parent volunteers it would help a lot.

Desert View Elementary School is a school that deserves the money to help further the quality of our childrens education. They have great teachers that try to be as involved in the kids education as possible and are for parent- teacher communication. They try to offer extra help to children struggling in their reading skills as well as help those who are having trouble with speaking and writing english. Some of the kids in the school come from disadvantaged families or are foster kids. The money would help the teachers to get more help in the classroom so they can focus on their learning and not so much on discipline. There are so many children per each classroom that it can be difficult to give the best learning environment.
