We are so happy there is a Montessori school in the AV area. It is a beautifull teaching method. It keeps the Children engaged and eager to learn. They are creating a respect for eachother as well as a healthy learning environment. They are always happy to go to school and are waving hello and goodbye to their friends as we go home. They are growing into these lovely little responsible young beings, and with a love for learning! The teachers are all great, they are very kind, calm and loving to the children. The school is always open to any questions you might have. They are flexibel and you feel as a part of the family so to speak. I would suggest to go for an observation, it's amazing to see a montessori classroom 'at work'.

Our 4 year old and 2 year old love Desert Montessori and have been learning a lot. They pick their own "work" and get to learn about Practical Life or about the world around them. Nothing is dumbed down for them. We pay $787/month for two kids to go three days a week (20% sibling discount). School starts at 8:00 am (though early drop off is available and they can even accommodate special requests for early drop off if you just have a meeting in L.A. one morning.) Pick up is at 3:30 though aftercare is also available. Hot lunch can be signed up for on mornings you are running too late to pack a lunch. Lots of great kids and families in the community too! They are moving to a new facility in July that will give us even more space indoors and out, a washer/dryer, parking, a bigger kitchen and a large event space. They will soon start taking kids down to 18 months too! Exciting times at Desert Montessori!

We currently have our second child enrolled in the DMA preschool. My older child, while outgoing at home, was very shy and withdrawn at preschool. The combination of the teachers working with him, allowing us the flexibility to work with him when we arrived, and the nurturing environment helped bring him out of his preschool shell and prepared him to enter kindergarten as a young 5. My second kid is currently enrolled at the school and loves it. Every day he asks if he can go to preschool. He has really blossomed and has become more independent and wants to do everything himself. Even our 1 year old loves the school and tries to sit in circle with the other kids. He will certainly be attending when he is old enough. Great experience for the kids. Very supportive environment. A great place to send your kids for preschool for much more than the daycare experience.

Great school. This place takes education seriously and completely changed my perception of the Montessori teaching method. Our daughter loves going to school, and I'm amazed of the things she learns each week. Their curriculum is well rounded, full of different activities, such as music, science and even martial arts. I would recommend this school to anyone in the AV.

I went to a Montessori school as a child, so the principles are really ingrained in our family. This school's approach, small student to teacher ratios and overall flexibility are what attracted us. Some of the techniques are not strict Montessori method, but I feel help a student transition to a traditional school afterward. Students are also exposed to a wide range of special topics, from Japanese, music, jiu jitsu, Spanish and chess on a weekly basis. You can't find a higher quality education in the Antelope Valley. We are very happy with our experiences at this school.

Desert Montessori Academy is one of the best Montessori education providers in this area. My daughter loves the school program, teachers and friends so much. She is very curious and outgoing girl, so the Desert Montessori is a perfect school for her. The teachers are all professional and dedicated. The parents are also very sophisticated and diligent to their children s education. As a part of Desert Montessori family, I highly recommend this school to anyone who is seeking a wonderful Montessori education in Antelope Valley.

Our family moved to the Antelope Valley in October of 2013, hoping to find a good pre-school for our daughter. After discovering DMA, I was beyond impressed at how peaceful the children all seemed & how many multi-sensory learning tools were available. We decided this was the place for our curious, outgoing child & have no regrets. She has been intellectually stimulated from day one. She has thrived since we enrolled her, she loves coming to school & has made friends quickly. There is no bullying here, the children are guided to being peaceful and loving with one another. The teachers & director are committed to the children being in a safe, happy, secure environment. They are vigilent, sticking to the promise of a low student/teacher ratio, while allowing the children to be independent. The staff is very easy to communicate with & genuinely values parent involvement.

My children have attending DMA for four years and I have been very happy with it. Great student teacher ratio, excellent academics in a loving environment. It is a quiet, peaceful, traditional Montessori classroom.

We all know that with all the cutbacks many teachers now have large classrooms sizes, up to 35 per class, a 1:35 ratio. Desert Montessori offers a 1:8 ratio, giving your child individual attention not available in most other environments. After two years at Desert Montessori my child had learned an incredible amount and, most importantly, was excited about learning. To give you just a few exmamples, my child was able to count to 100, was in the beginning stages of reading, started simple addition, and was familiar with shapes such as ellipsoids, which I found very impressive. This was all before starting Kindergarten! I would hgihly recommend Desert Montessori to any parent looking for a school that not only excels in academics but also in good manners and teaching children about taking care of themselves and the world around them.

This school offers a 1:8 teacher to student ratio and the level of education is exceptional. My oldest went there until the 3rd grade and his current school continues to be impressed with all that he learned at DMA. They want parent involvement if possible and the teachers genuinely care for every child there. The AV does not have a lot of good educational opportunities but DMA stands out for all that they offer: music, art, chess lessons, Spanish lessons, Japanese, jujitsu etc. The children thrive with the Montessori method.

This is a great place to send your kids if you have a lot of money and want your child to be a little android. Being a private school, the instructors are not required to have state credentials, and the Montessori training is a 3-month program. I'm not aware of any further training to qualify as a teacher, and I doubt that most --if any of them have a college degree. The instructors are poorly qualified and unable to deal with more than 3 or 4 well-behaved children at a time. In addition to steep tuition, you will be required to spend hundreds of dollars on fund raisers. Cost is around $700 per month, and they expect the parents to do the school's laundry. Maybe a good concept for Beverly Hills, but the Montessori academy in Lancaster barely qualifies as anything more than an expensive day care center. Avoid at all costs!
