The Aleks math program is for the most part a teach yourself program. The students are not separated by ability or current course level so they aren't receiving any specific help in class. This prevents many students with learning issues from succeeding, in my opinion, because these students are unable to self teach. Which may affect student's ability to attend Ellis. The freshman were forced to take an online Spanish course, last year, where no bilingual teacher was provided. Clearly some of the teachers on staff do an excellent job and care about the students such Mrs. Wright in the english department, the gentleman that teaches Civics and many of the shop teachers but too many seem are that they're just killing time waiting for their pensions to kick in. Their policy on bullying is to refrain from from any self defense even you are physically assaulted. This policy increases bullying not minimizes it, I strongly believe. The administration staff seem distant and unreachable to address issues on school matters. The school board simply makes decrees ignoring any parental concerns. Superintendent Wibhy, his staff, the liason representing his office working at the school nor the principal will answer any questions, return parents calls, texts or emails, as has been my experience. They do not wish to discuss their decisions or the facts they used to make them. This has become more glaringly obvious over the last year and a half. You would almost think they do not regard themselves as the publicly tax funded system that they are.

My experience at Ellis Technical High School was horrible because the math program is broken and the Electronics Technology shop is 95% paperwork, when they made it seem like I was signing up for building circuits.

This school is absolutely wonderful, it is so nice to see my son happy to go to school and excited about learning and his involvement with sports. Friendly and inviting.

One of the best schools in Eastern Connecticut, The Upcoming Additions should make it also one of the Most beautiful. Teachers are Amazing! Students are friendly and generally respectful. (Many Students Choose Not to Lock Lockers) Technical/science/math curriculum is great, Reading program is somewhat lacking but still very good. Lacks an Art and Music Program but has excellent substitutes for co-curricular activities.
