Community, Integrity and Respect are the cornerstones of a successful learning environment. Pomfret is a wonder academic setting that supports students and encourages them to be their authentic selves . I highly recommend Pomfret to any family looking a safe loving environment for their teenager.

My experience at Pomfret was extraordinary. The campus is gorgeous, the teachers care and push students, and the entire school is super engaged. One of the top boarding schools in the Northeast.

Pomfret is a competetive school where thew teachers expect a lot, but the students achieve a lot.

My son started as a freshman and is now a junior and has had a very good experience at Pomfret. In our 3 years there, we have found the environment to be extremely welcoming and friendly. You get the impression at Pomfret (and my son confirms this), that everyone knows each other and that the students are “good kids.” The faculty are excellent and very available to the students. To me, one of the beauties of boarding school is that the staff live right there and they encourage your child to come see them whether they are having a problem with a subject, or just want to go over an idea. My son has had a wonderful advisor who keeps an eye on him. She is so proud when he is doing well, however, when he lets things slide and is not doing so well, she is right on him! And, he fully respects her for that. Many people mention what a beautiful campus Pomfret is. To me, compared to the nurturing environment, the quality of the faculty, the hands-on/active way of teaching, the aesthetics of the campus is just a nice plus for me. My son does comment though that he loves the sunsets at Pomfret!Overall, Pomfret is a school I would highly recommend, especially for the families in the Boston area as it is an hour and ten minutes away. It’s good to know it’s easy to see your kid!

Pomfret School is the best choice I have ever made in my life. The community is welcoming and embracing. Faculties and students have a close relationship through advisory programs. I also tried many new sports and developed my academic interests throughout my four years.

I graduated in 2010 and would not have wanted to go anywhere else. The faculty are warm and engaging, campus is gorgeous, the girls pretty AND intelligent. The best/most important thing about any secondary school is the student body and the lifelong relationships you form there; Pomfret is unique in that area because of the mix and character of people. Student body populations can change over the years, but alums from ten years ago tell me it was the same then. The effort by the admissions staff to get people of all incomes and talents is evident when I compare my experience to friends who went to other schools like Deerfield or Hotchkiss. We excel and revel in doing so, but lack that cold angry competitiveness.

This school is traumatizing, full of both student and teacher bullies, no academic support or emotional support, cruel, competitive.

Pomfret was a place where I became who I am today. I graduated in the class of 2006 and still stay in very close contact with the school. I had great teachers there who were a mix of veteran educators and younger faculty who were passionate about teaching, coaching, and improving our lives as students. Socially the school was a great fit and one of the largest reasons I felt instantly at ease was when I returned to visit the campus as a prospective student, people recognized me and stopped to say hello. From the advising process, college search and everything in between Pomfret was the greatest fit for me. My closest group of friends is a group from my time at Pomfret and I am regularly in touch with my peers and former teachers and administrators.

I graduated Pomfret last year and am very happy with the education I received there. There were certainly aspects that I was uncomfortable with, but overall I think I grew a lot as a result of my experience there. I really benefitted from the advisor system. Especially my freshman year I was very shy and still feel that the culture at Pomfret is not particularly accepting of less extroverted people, but I had the support I needed to deal with that. I miss it terribly, although I was well prepared and am happy at college!

Awful school. I went there for my freshman year and i got bullied. The teachers did not even make an attempt to try to help me. Most of the teachers were not even that smart- half of them were right out of college. You're forced to do dorm activities and other school things. It's in the middle of nowhere and the most exciting thing to do on the weekend is go to target. I loved the school when i visited, it was pretty and people seemed nice; but i knew in the middle of the year that i would not go back.
