The Marvelwood School is a great school. Teachers are patient and helpful. My son has only come to this school for half a year. He is thriving with the support of the customized program.

This is my son's first year at Marvelwood. He is thriving under individual attention, small class sizes, and unique methods of teaching.

My son attended Marvelwood - unfortunately only for his senior year - we so wish we had found Marvelwood years before. He had the most positive experience for his high school years. The students, faculty and staff were all supportive, kind and engaged. They managed the distance learning so effectively - they were right on it form the beginning. Cannot say enough good things about this school and how well they handled my sons learning differences. The best!

My son Will went to Marvelwood for two years between 2014-16. He was looking for an experience outside of his high school in California. It was an incredible experience for Will and his growth was extraordinary. He made friends; joined the baseball team and when all was said and done he ended up at George Washington University. We all especially loved the quality and the caring of the faculty and administrators. They were top notch! The campus is also a treat. Located on a hill in beautiful Kent Connecticut it is a great environment for a school. Of course, that implies that you child is looking for a more rural and not urban setting. I highly recommend Marvelwood!

Excellent. I am just sad I didn’t know about it sooner. I recommend Marvelwood to any parent looking for a school that treats the whole child not just the academics.

Sending our daughter to Marvelwood is one of the best decisions we have made. The school is caring and nurturing and gives each student their best.

My daughter had a difficult time find the right school for her. She thrived at Marvelwood. Years subsequent to her graduation, a mentor of hers still calls to see how she is doing. We were so fortunate to discover Marvelwood.

There are many reasons to choose a private school education. Perhaps you are unhappy with the quality of your local high school. Perhaps you yourself went to a college preparatory school and you remember it with nostalgia. Perhaps you have some concerns about your child’s ability to succeed in college. Perhaps your child needs a structured environment in which to succeed. Perhaps your child has a learning difference. Perhaps your child is socially immature (aren’t we all?). Perhaps you have some combination of these fears and others. Those were some of my concerns when we began looking for a school in which to enroll our son. We wanted a place where he would be treated fairly and with respect, a place that had small classes, a place with a good student to teacher ratio. A place where he felt comfortable. A place we could afford. When we chose The Marvelwood School, we got so much more. I could tell you about all the opportunities that both (yes, both) our boys had during their time at Marvelwood, but I’d rather tell you about what we really got for our eight years of tuition. Remarkably, they are things no amount of money can buy. So much learning happens between the 8th grade and college, and most of the important learning doesn’t come from books. Any school can teach a child basic high school level math, science and English. By the time our boys graduated, both with honors, they had passed their AP exams and gotten into good colleges, but more importantly, they had become people of integrity. They were resourceful, confident problem solvers. They were natural leaders, prize winning athletes, charismatic debaters. They were intuitive, trustworthy, compassionate team builders. They were inclusive, socially intelligent, philanthropic, empathetic. They had become people I admired. Even, I have to admit, people I aspired to emulate. Respect. Responsibility. Honesty. Service. That is what Marvelood promotes, and that is what they deliver. When you give your children into the care of others, they will be teaching them more than you might expect. Instead of asking what kind of college your child can get into, you should be asking yourself what kind of person you want them to become. If you choose Marvelwood, you won’t be disappointed.

My daughter transferred in to The Marvelwood School for her junior year after some tough experience in her public high school as she didn't fit into the "traditional mold" of learning. She is thriving at Marvelwood as they don't have one set mold of teaching and support each individual student. The faculty and administrators are very open and actually welcome parent involvement and don't see it as a hindrance to the student's individual growth in becoming advocates for themselves, but rather a supportive extension. They listen to both the student and the parent, and the result is a symbiotic relationship. I just wanted my daughter in an educational environment where she feels that she is a valued member, and we found that at Marvelwood.

Our son has been at Marvelwood for almost two years and our experience has been nothing short of outstanding. Marvelwood meets your child where they are and actively helps to get them where they need and want to be. It is a kind, gentle environment where long tenured teachers and administrators work together to develop individualized plans to insure your child’s success - as a student, athlete and human being. The school has provided our son the opportunity to explore and experience many new things in a non-judgmental environment through varied electives and after school activities. When there are the inevitable “bumps” in the road, the team at Marvelwood has handled them quickly and compassionately. Our son has made huge strides both academically and socially and most importantly feels good about himself and all that he has accomplished, and for that we will always be grateful to Marvelwood.

Marvelwood is close to my heart in more ways than one. I had the privilege of working there for many years, surrounded by some of the most hardworking and caring individuals I’ve ever met. My husband, Dr. John Kennedy, and I were also lucky enough to be able to send our three children there for their high school education. All three thrived and became leaders in the community. Our oldest is completing her masters degree, our middle child is in his second year of college and our youngest is a sophomore at Marvelwood. I’m incredibly grateful for the wonderful faculty/staff that made my childrens’ high school experience so rich and memorable. I’ve seen the benefits of their extraordinary community firsthand through my own children, but also through the children of so many others. I’ve witnessed the miraculous transformation of so many students. Marvelwood truly encourages growth with all of their students and I am so happy to have been part of their community for the last 20 years.

A wonderful, nurturing school community in a spectacular natural setting, just the right size and with an exceptional staff and faculty and outstanding academics. At Marvelwood our daughter has learned to love and excel in math and science to a degree we never expected, while her lifelong interests in literature, writing, history, and the arts have been enriched and blossomed. We couldn't be happier with this school and recommend it highly.

Marvelwood is the school we were looking for. Our daughter came for Jr and Sr. year. Our only regret is that we did not know about it earlier. She needed a school that would celebrate her interests and talents, free from bias, bullies and keep her love of learning alive through any struggle. They gave her the tools for independence that she needs for college and the global perspective we wanted for her through the classmates and friends she now has from around the world. If you are looking for tools, but not the box, this is the place for you. Thank you Marvelwood and the entire staff, from the bottom of our hearts.Mary Fellows and John ConkCleo Fellows-Conk ‘15

Marvelwood school is a business first and a school second. They change grades to get kids to graduate, and many of them are not learning. None of the teachers who are "specialists" have any sort of qualifications to do what they do. Students graduate and go on to fail out of college because they are grossly under prepared for the academic standards.

A small college prep school with a large heart and 83 acre campus. The student/teacher ration is small and therefore very interacting and engaging. The hours are long, with Saturdays included until 1pm. The school offers, at an additional cost, a course entitled, "Strategies" which helps the students organize their work day and assignment load. My son chose this school and loves it. The dorms are well sized with a lovely view, (it's at the top of the mountain in Kent). where it is located. A quaint "downtown" and numerous other boarding schools are located in the same area. Students seem content with a family like campus. The number of students are approx. 156 with a diverse international and US population. Everything you could want in a boarding school.

I have 2 children attending Marvelwood and have nothing but positive things to say. My son came in his Junior year from public school and all the staff and faculty has helped in the transition. As a Senior he has grown into the young man I always knew he was. He always was under the radar at public school and Marvelwood brought out in him his full potential. The hands on science classes are his favorite and in his 2 years has taken 4. He struggles in math but the teachers have worked with him, after school, on their own time, to give him the tools he needs to succeed. The College Application process has been going smoothly thanks to the excellent work of the College Counseling Department. Both my children are thriving here and thanks to the small school setting they are able to receive the attention they both deserve.
