We’ve been at Sinclair for 3 years and highly recommend. The parents are very supportive and involved, and the PTO and principal (Mr. Mashburn) are responsive to feedback. Both of my kids look forward to school each day.

My son just finished the first grade and has been attending at Sinclair since he was in kindergarten. He has had some minor learning difficulties but has been able to push through largely due to his teachers which have proven themselves to be exceptionally competent. His teachers and other faculty members have been very quick to respond to our concerns and have always kept in close contact whenever an incident occurs. I have recommended Sinclair to a close friend of mine who has just enrolled his son and daughter for the fall semester, and I would recommend it to any other parent who is looking for a quality elementary school.

My children had a great experience at Sinclair. The school received an A rating and I can see why. They have wonderful and caring teachers, excellent magnet classes, and lots of family engagement activities year-round. The administration at the school cares about the kids and they are visible. I am glad that I transferred my kids to Sinclair and would highly recommend this school.

Great school, great diversity, Spark park playground, and the community/parents are amazing! We've been fortunate to have two great teacher's for our child, but obviously having a great teacher is important.

I love my neighborhood and want this school to succeed. But I cannot recommend this school and advise parents to explore other options. We've been here for 4 years and we've had problems every single year. We started our first year with a very poor quality teacher. We then had a teacher who was very disrespectful to the children. At first I did not believe my child's complaints until I personally was on the receiving end of this teacher's behavior. I felt my concerns were not taken seriously and this teacher remains in the classroom. I know for a fact that we are not the only family to have this issue. Also, there is a huge ongoing problem with 4th and 5th graders having access to drugs. Several children were involved in a marijuana incident. According to my child, only one student was punished. Also, a student left campus and not one teacher noticed for hours. Parents were not informed and the police were involved. Bullying is also a big problem that is overlooked by the school. The principal is very nice, but I question her leadership in these situations.

We've been at Sinclair 4 years (our oldest is a 3rd grader and our second child is in Kindergarten) and we could not be more pleased with how they have thrived at Sinclair. The teachers are excellent and we LOVE the principal. This year they enacted a "low homework" policy, so now we have more time for play and learning through family time, rather than being stuck on worksheets. The PTO is active but not as overblown as some of the bigger schools; if you want to be involved there is a spot for you! Their campus has a huge amount of outside space. Sinclair truly is a gem!

This review is based on fact that I found out from my daughter that a 5th grade girl left school in middle of the day and no one knew she left. The school did not notify parents of incident. Then a few weeks later they found a 5th grader selling marijuana during recess. We did get a letter about this incident. Also a few of these 5th grade girls wear acrylic nails! Take your daughters elsewhere! Education is good but under circumstances I'd select a different school.

They lost my child the first week for not listening. They are not prepared for divided homes. No matter how many times you explain a difficult/challenging dual home situation, they don't care to help. They act like divorce is a foreign concept. It's 2016! Not 1950. They don't give both parents information ultimately hurting your childs potential. They ignore your request for dual copies so both parties are prepared and can be the best for your child(ren).Front desk is rude and incompetent when asked what all is sent weekly (just a folder of random stuff). They have terrible communication. I do not plan on sending my child here again. They will treat you with disrespect if you confront issues. Not everyone has a perfect amicable situation. It is up to everyone to work as a team for the well being of the child. I'm highly disappointed in this schools lack of preparation in "different" situations. It's outdated and they're rating is based on people who probably didn't have a situation like mine. The only person affected was my child. Though he preformed well academically. My suggestion go to a different school if you are divorced and need a school who can work with your sitation- or have a dual home situation. This one was a waste of a magnet. Lesson learned.

I am so happy with Sinclair! It's my son's second year there and we couldn't be more pleased. The teachers are great and always make themselves very approachable and accessible to parents. If I could rate it higher than a 5 I would. As another review said, it's truly a hidden gem. Put it at the top of your list, picky parents! You'll be glad you did.

I went on a tour at Sinclair last week and was surprisingly impressed. I thought this school would be at the bottom of our application list, but now it is at the top. It offers great programming with a new STEM lab that does coding and robotics and even has a TV studio. Everyone was happy and excited and the magnet coordinator was so enthusiastic. I can see my family at this school. I highly suggest applying to this school and ranking it high. I am hoping to get a spot and not to be on the wait list.

I have to agree with the most recently posted comment below. We are new to Sinclair and after coming from a nearby "highly desired" school, we have been completely impressed. Our daughter loves going to school everyday, teachers are excellent and principal and administration are very approachable. Aside from that, I am extremely impressed with the PTA, which is down to Earth and inclusive of anyone who wants to be involved. This school will be tough to get into in a few short years, and we feel lucky to be here. As you do your research, do not overlook Sinclair, it is impressive!

My daughter loves this school, therefore I have nothing but great things to say about it. The principal and teachers are always so helpful and really seem like they want to be there. This school hasn't gained quite the following that Oak Forest has (which is nice) because not as many people are competing to get in...yet. It's truly a hidden gem. I couldn't be more proud to say my child attends Sinclair!

This is an exceptional school. My kids thrive at Sinclair. The staff, principal and teachers are top notch. One of the fabulous teachers was recently recognized s the HISD teacher of the year. I couldn't ask for a better school or better teachers. Love Sinclair.

My great niece loves her teacher and her school. She was even offered to be a part of the magnet program. She attended pre-k class. It is reassuring to know that she has potential to be in the magnet program. The teacher, Miss Paige,is influential in her willingness to learn and do well in school.

I went to this school years ago (I'm now in high school) and I can honestly say I loved it! The way they taught was outstanding! Every year I got commended performance on all T.A.K.S. tests. Sinclair tries to get to know kids to teach them in a way they would learn. In fact, I ran into one of my teachers from fifth grade the other day, and she still remembered me! I obviously haven't attended in a long time, and I know there is a new principal so I can't comment on that, but when I did attend, our principals were great and extremely nice. The school was a safe and fun place to be.

I absolutely agree with the last review. I too live in the neighborhood and my son has attended Sinclair since kindergarten and is now in the 4th grade. We are pleased with his progress and have compared his projects to other premier area schools. We have come to realize that these other schools look pretty on the outside and can fool you with the flash and circumstance. Sinclair may be 50 years old and not as pretty on the outside, but it is full of quality on the inside. Support your neighborhood school!

I'm very pleased with the new principal. I think the current leadership team is what this school has been searching for. It is high time that the surrounding residents buy into this neighborhood gem. This school sits on a large plot of land in a hot area. I would hate to see HISD with their financial woes look to sell and allow developers have their way with it. Great schools make great neighborhoods. I live in the neighborhood and was hesitant after hearing about the other schools that are close. I chose Sinclair and my daughter and I are very happy to be at Sinclair.
