This is an incredible school. There is gorgeous artwork throughout, there is a stunning outdoor garden where the children get to pull fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the earth! They learn outside. It is a wonderful community, and a historic building.

Great local school, very personal, great academics and small class sizes. We moved to the Memorial Park area last summer and are very happy with our school choice vs private for our 10 and 5 year old. Some of our highlights: - Staff and principal greet every student by name each morning- Experienced teachers are very engaged and motivated- Principal is on top of things- Dual language program and the community garden- Great additional initiatives by Lift Memorial and PTO

We live in Rice Military and love being a member of the Memorial Elementary School family. Dr Garcia (principal) and her wonderful team have turned MES into a high performing school with a friendly and warm learning environment. Our daughter had been accepted into a well-known Houston private school but we decided to give MES, our neighborhood school, a chance - - and I am SO happy we did! MES's smaller campus, dual language program, Urban Harvest garden, music program, journey towards International Baccalaureate certification, active PTO and supportive community (see Lift Memorial) and recent awards (Platinum Certified Family Friendly School; 2020 National Blue Ribbon school) are just some of the reasons we are all - especially our daughter - very happy with our charming neighborhood school.

I have had such a positive experience with Memorial Elementary. My son has been here since Kindergarten and now he is in 4th gradeds. He is excelling in his academics, thriving in his spanish immersion program (we are a non spanish speaking household), and socially he's confident. We were considering private school because of the reviews, but I am so glad I met with the Principal and GT coordinator and expressed my concerns. Couple of times a year I sit down with the teachers and administration, and they are so receptive to my feedback. It's important to understand that your role as a parent to your child's school should be a partnership. Memorial wants to be the best school and as a parent, I want Memorial to excel. I love the team approach we have and if you are an involved parent, your child will succeed.

Awful experience, the principal and secretary are the worst staff members. If a student is late to school, they make the child sit outside of the classroom to eat breakfast in the hallway. The principal discriminates students that are new to the Country, and tells them that if they cannot speak or understand English then they should go back to their home country. But of course the secretary has to cover for her and herself. How can any of us want our children to come to a school like this. They are very rude towards all parents and students, including their own staff.

At first I had mostly pleasant experiences with this school. Over this school year my experiences have been nothing short of awful! While the staff for the most part remain friendly, the disorganization at this school is astounding. Teachers don't take any accountability towards students success, and the administrators are completely out of the loop regarding the success of the students. Constantly having to email about my students success, and my concerns are repeatedly brushed off. There is one particular staff member in the office who is beyond rude. Can't wait until my child can transfer out of this awful school!

Memorial has been great, Mrs. Rozas is an excellent principal that shows leadership and motivation to help the students to excel. This year Memorial has implemented new programs and activities that are very well planned according to the children's age.The teachers are qualified and very conscious of their challenge and the impact they have on our kids.
