We were ecstatic to have our child start the 2022-2023 school year at Lutheran North Academy and be one of the first students in their new middle school. Its been a wonderful year. The teacher to student ratio is exactly what we were looking for, not too small and not too big. The sports offered fall right in line with the other private schools. The academics offered are fantastic as well as the theater program which was way more than we expected. An added plus!Our child has thrived in the Christian environment the school provides. We are very happy to have found this school where our child can attend through 12th grade.

This school provides everything we wanted when choosing a school for our two children. My daughter graduated and was very well prepared for college and had a strong Christian foundation because of this school and my son is happy to call LHN his school.

This school has been a wonderful experience for my grandson in both his emotional, social and academic growth. The teachers do an effective job of helping him succeed. He loves them all. The school sends a weekly report on progress and assignments are always posted for both students and parents. This school has been a blessing and I highly recommend it.

I greatly enjoyed my high school experience at LHN. LHN helped mold me into the person I am today and fully prepared me to succeed as a Christian leader in college and beyond.

My daughter has just graduated from Lutheran High North. She had an awesome high school experience these last four years. What I love about LHN is the small community, and the many opportunities my daughter had. She was able to explore the fine arts. They have a truly great marching/concert band program for a small private school. She also participated in two sports and was on student council. She grew and matured under the supportive and loving guidance of her teachers and coaches. They are doing amazing things at LHN with their students. It is definitely a Christ centered environment with excellent academics and many extra curricular activities.

As a current parent of a severely dyslexic child that is going to LHN, I would like to state my point of view that is a little different than below. The teachers at LHN went above and beyond to assist my child with extra help, extra time , and extra encouragement. In high school, kids need to start to be accountable for their own work, which is what LHN does. But that doesn't mean that a parent cannot go into RenWeb daily to find out exactly what their child is doing or not doing. Having a child with a learning difference is not an easy task, the parents, teachers and child have to work together. I also have to commend the leadership and athletic departments that worked with my child to accommodate tutoring, extended time need to finish exams and projects, and the ability for my child to find life long friends through athletic teams. Not every school is perfect for every child, but please do not discount LHN if your child has a learning difference. I will not lie, the school is academically challenging but the teachers and staff truly do want to help each and every student succeed. They have never turned down any request to help, but you do have to ask. Throughout the year, my child had challenges, victories and failures and has taken on those and owned them. My child is not a star athlete, a straight A-Student, the most popular, or a child of an Alum but loves being a LHN Lion!

There are only 2 things that Lutheran schools care about, the students who do not need any help academically and the students that are in sports. Oh, and also the children of the staff and the children of the Alumni. I completely agree with the parent who posted on 08/19/2012, first I would like to say good on you for posting at the beginning of the school year, parents need to know what they are dealing with before school starts. Second, you are so correct with the comment regarding that when you read the negative reviews about LHN, you thought it was just some disgruntled parent, like you, I thought the same thing, now I wish I had listened. Unfortunately, I did not and my kids paid the price. This school is not any better than a public school, at least in a public school you know what you are getting, not here, it is an over-priced private education under the guise of Christianity that it is anything but. The students in sports are given whatever freedom they want in the form of not complying with the uniform code to wandering the halls after class without supervision. Just like you hear on the news the students involved in sports are conditioned to have an attitude of entitlement and coaches explain away their behavior in the tone “that kids will be kids”, when you see this kind of student behavior then something is terribly wrong. Bullying, harassment and other behaviors that are questionable are explained away by the staff and coaches because the school must have a great football team no matter what. Last, the counseling and teaching staff, they only focus on students that are exceptionally gifted, if your child is average or has challenges they are left to fend by themselves with the parent not finding out there is an issue until the 6 weeks’ report card comes out. This I believe this happens because the assignments are not graded until the 5th week just in time for grades to be entered in the system to release the report card. Our experience with this school overall was very disappointing due to sub-standard teaching requirements and staff with a lack of proper student/academic psychology.

I have graduated two children from this school and a third who now attends. So many opportunities for growth and maturity take place on campus. The academic standards are excellent and the ability to participate in so many activities benefitted my children who are out on their own now as well as the youngest still in school.

Lutheran High North is a quality Christian school in Houston. They've recently hired a new Head of School and Athletic Director that I've met. They are strong Christian men of Faith that are going to be great additions for LHN!

Lutheran High North is an excellent school choice for students and families that are looking for strong academics, an incredible sense of communty, a faith centered approach and a place where the students and their overall education is a top priority. The teachers and staff are extremely good and communication with parents and students is a clear focus. The school has deployed technology resources such as an ipad 2 asset program, whiteboards and many others that ensure students are learning in a cutting edge environment necessary to support them in furture educational and professional endeavors. This school is also an excellent choice for families when students need extra help or certail modifications to assist in the learning process. Lutheran High North has many activities (athletic and otherwise) and a wonderful Fine Arts and Music department so that students are very involved thus getting a well rounded high school experience. I highly reccomend this school and trust that those who attend will have a rewarding experience.

LHN is a fantastic school! They offer AP courses, dual-credit college courses, and Honors courses. The teachers and staff are Christians who truly "let their light shine forth" in everything that they do. My girls love going to school there and are receiving an above-average college prep education. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants a high-quality Christian education for their child in these times of lower standards and attacks upon Christian values that seem to plague our public school systems.

LHN is a great school and the teachers are compassionate and eager to help the students achieve their goals. When I attended LHN I found that the teachers were tough but fair. I think it was a good balance in teaching you that not everything in life will be handed to you and really prepared me for college as well as my current job. Hard work pays off.

My experience at LHN was everything I could have wanted out of high school. It definitely prepared me academically for college as well as grad school. The teachers took the time to make sure I learned and not just got through the class. Athletically there were many options and great coaches. I still go back as an alum of the school and am impressed by the continued improvements to facilities and technology and the dedicaton to helping kids prepare for college and beyond.

We are so fortunate to have found this amazing school. My son was a senior last year, and the college help was superb! My daughter is a freshman and absolutely loves going to school every day. She is getting wonderful grades, loves her teachers, is involved in sports and is truly happy. Both of my children are making friends they will have for life. As a parent, this a safe, loving, nuturing environment where my kids can stay after school and be well supervised, and nearly every night there is something for everyone at the school to make it a real community. This week alone we'll be at report card night talking to teachers and staff, watching the football game as a family tomorrow night and going to the musical this week-end.

My children attended LHN, and I all I can say is do not waste your money sending your children to this school. The only kids that any receive any type of recognition are the kids who have wealthy parents, kids that are in sports or with a very high GPA. If you have an average student expect to be ignored or treated irrelevant. The academics are sub standard to say the least and it is the average student who gets left behind with very little "positive" encouragement from the counselors or the teachers. The worst culprits are the coaches and teachers who are coaching or teaching their own children or relatives because the dress code and behavior expectations do not apply to them. Do not let the facade of a christian education fool you, if you decide to enroll your kids at LHN be prepared to be as proactive as you can about your child's education. What they experience here will follow them the rest of their life. If I had to make this decision all over again I would definitely choose another school.

LHN is very overrated, to say the least. The communication between parents and teachers is beyond poor. I read some reviews of LHN before I enrolled my student that said the same thing, and I thought oh that's some disgruntled person. I should have listened. They just want your money and aren't interested at all in the growth of your student. Ask if they have exact statistics on where their seniors went to school. It will tell the story. Many of them are at Houston Community College....not that there's anything wrong with that, but you would think that they'd produce more attractive students, with such a small graduating class.
