I have two children attending Waltrip with very different personalities and interests. They are both thriving and feel supported by their teachers. I love the staff and administration and feel my kids are in a safe environment.

I have two kids at this school and even despite all of the changes in HISD, they are happy and learning. Many of their favorite teachers have left but many are hanging on. The kids at the school are respectful and I am on campus often and see a positive learning environment. My kids play lots of sports and have had good experiences with the programs and coaches. It is a typical high school and we love the families that are at the school.

In my personal experience teachers will make sure you are passing but with your personal permission, what i mean is that if you aren’t trying they won’t try either, they’ll give you the minimum if they know you don’t care about your grades like they do. I feel like some teachers don’t care about your mental health and only want you to turn in 3 long assignments in under 90 mins. but you’ll get a teach like that in every school, im not a special needs student but i’ve seen how the teachers are with them, they support them and take care of them with so much care even when they get aggressive. Waltrip has a lot of meetings, open house, and everything in between for parent involvement including sport activities.

Since Waltrip has gotten a new principal, the dynamic of the school has changed in a positive way (students are getting to class in a timely manner and not congregating in the hallways and bathrooms). Both students and staff are kind and respectful.

My child is a freshman at Waltrip, and I continue to be impressed with the teachers, the staff, and the administration. The curriculum is extensive and well rounded. There are so many options for AP classes, career readiness, different interests, electives, sports, and extracurriculars. At public events (sports games, theatre, open house, when working at the PTO store), the students show their true colors and look like they are having fun being typical teenagers while being respectful of each other and others. I'm so glad we made the choice to send our child to our zoned school.

Our child is a freshman and we are happy to be here! Our freshman is doing very well academically and has made wonderful friendships. We are happy with the teachers and I can’t wait to see the improvements our new principal, Ms. Honore, has planned! Please come check Waltrip out!

This is our daughter’s first year at Waltrip and we are happy to be here! The campus vibe is warm, welcoming, and positive and we’ve been very impressed with her teachers this year. They are dedicated and engaged and care about student success. We look forward to watching the Waltrip community continue to grow and improve. Ignore the unfounded rumors and outdated scores, and come visit Waltrip for yourself!

I have two students currently at Waltrip and they both participate in multiple sports and are loving it. The coaches are very supportive and they have had great experiences and made lots of friends. You don’t have to have played select your whole life to have a chance to play a sport. Refreshing! The atmosphere is positive and supportive of their development. We are building up our fan base more and more each game and the student section is rowdy! There are extracurricular programs for everyone’s interests. The UIL one act play was wonderful and the band program is amazing! The staff is open to creating any clubs the students want to have. Come see for yourself. #ramnation

I can not say enough positive things about our experience with Waltrip High School. Our student is in the business pathway and is working toward the AP Capstone Diploma. The school has an extremely comprehensive academic program offering (currently 6 pathways and 22+ AP options), as well as access to several sports, clubs, and extracurriculars. We have continued to be impressed with the teachers and staff at the school, and our student has always been supported with regards to her IEP and the necessary accommodations for her learning experience. Highly recommend!

Pretty rough, lots of drug use and people who don’t care about their education
