This school was our first experience in public school for our family and our 5 year old. We started in kindergarten. We have been homeschooling our son but he expressed to us that he wanted to try out public school. We always give our son the option so we decided on Thimmig since it was so close to home. From the little days my son went, he had maybe 2 or 3 “good enough” days but the last few days made us decided to pull him out. His teacher was very rude for being a kindergarten teacher. I honestly can’t believe my ears the way she spoke to my son. I spoke to the principal and at first they shrugged off the complaint and eventually stated they were sorry for the experience we endured. My son said his teacher yelled a lot. I imagined all k teachers are kind and encouraging but from what was shown to us in person as parents we do not agree that she showed encouragement to my son, more like forceful behavior and off putting comments were seen. I do not recommend to send your child here for kindergarten if you have Sherri as a teacher. To not be bias I want to be clear we started in December, our son was homeschooled and he had started with an easy drop off the first days but the next days started being very hard to the point of tears and begging and pleads that he did not want to go anymore. I trust my sons judgment more than a teacher who I barely know. So he was pulled out and we were not happy with the experience. Next time we will put him in a public school at the beginning of the year and hope his experience is a lot different. I only speak for the kindergarten teacher and for the principal who emailed us. The kindest person we encountered as parents was Kaitlyn the school registrar.

I think that these numbers have got to be off. My son is in the talented gifted program here at Thimmig, it is a very extensive program. At least 60 kids at the school take part in this program for either Math or Reading and they are frequently tested. they have to be testing somewhere above the nations 90th percentile to participate. So how does the school as a whole score so low? I don't trust these numbers one bit.

There is a strong bully culture at this school and the staff does little to nothing to discourage it.

Thimmig Elementary is a school that has teachers and staff who believe in kids and who are dedicated to make sure each child is successful. My daughter has made amazing growth and I couldn't be happier with teachers and administration.

I am absolutely satisfied with this school. My son has received the best kindergarten experience I could ask for. He has excelled so much this past year because the teachers here care and work so diligently with all the children, not just a select few like I have heard about with other schools. The teachers pay attention and know each and every single one of their students, as well as each students strengths and weaknesses. I am so very pleased with Thimmig Elementary, I look forward to having my son attend this school for the next 5 years!

Love this school. After transferring my child from a nearby charter that was terrible. My child is now academically progressing. The school to parent communication is awesome with weekly e-mails and phone calls. The staff is awesome. My child had a awesome 1st grade teacher and we're looking forward to the upcomming school year. This school has a great program. Also, the Charter school I refered to earlier has a tutoring program that charges 19.00 an hour and Thimming offers the same program for free. Awesome for parents who need to watch spending. Great principal!

We transferred our kids from a charter school to Thimmig because my oldest was having problems. They have been very supportive and helpful, not only with my oldest but with all my kids. The teachers and support staff are great, the school is nice, and Mr. McMillan is a great leader!
