My daughter just started at this school and her teachers seem to truly care about the students. I do like the “pods” to allow the group of teachers to get to know a specific group of kids. The teacher in the pod will communicate and work together to support their group of kiddos. My daughter thus far has had a positive experience. Which is a relief as we are new to the area. I do notice that parent involvement is a big need at this impressional stage for our kiddos. Some kids do come across unruly due to the fact there is no consequence at home for their actions . However, I use it as a learning tool with my daughter. We are faced with all kinds of challenges, personalities daily and how we approach and deal with them. My daughter has been taught character traits through the Mapleton public schools and we continue to hold those values and believe Stuart MS does too. So far I do like the school and would recommend.

As a previous student, I highly recommend you consider other options. Bullying runs rampant in the school, fights are on the regular, and admin doesn’t do anything to stop bullying despite their so-called “zero tolerance policy”.What their zero tolerance policy actually means is the victim is not allowed to defend themselves and will face punishments if they do.I had another student threatening my life daily, cornering me in the bathroom, and screaming in my face. I was in immediate danger consistently for an entire semester (to the point I developed a stress responsive autoimmune disorder which I still have today) and nothing was done until several friends approached the office and caught her on tape threatening to bash my head into a table. Even so, the only repercussion was a 1 DAY SUSPENSION.If you care at all about your child’s safety and academic success, Pick. Another. School.

This is the worst school you could imagine, staff is terrible. Teachers have no idea what they are doing, the kids are the worse. Staff does nothing about bullying. For example many of the students were extremely racist, it’s not a safe place to be. Kids are getting jumped here, Doing drugs. Starting drama, rumors all that sort of stuff. The bullying is nonstop.

This has been the worst experience we could have imagined. From where our daughter started to where she is at now academically is concerning. Bullying is a nightmare here. Goes unnoticed. Staff blames COVID and lack of social skills on students parts, but what about all the MANY reviews about bullying issues here well before the pandemic? Can’t blame COVID for that… My daughter is on a 504 plan. This school takes that as a joke. No follow up from teachers. No care for the students. The racism is a huge issue in the class room. Apparently my daughter is too white. She gets told she’s too pale and ugly in front of staff and teachers don’t care. Her confidence has taken a massive dive in the last couple years here. Won’t be coming back next year. I have nothing good to say about this experience. I wish I listened to prior reviews….

This school has been wonderful to our child. They have had issues in the past with bullying and this school has gone out of their way to make sure our child felt welcomed and accepted.

Worst school experience. We started with Stuart during COVID and my child was starting 6th grade. They wanted a lot of grace for policy changes etc, which we were happy to give. However the dean called me to reprimand me and brought me to tears because my child was absent too much (due to symptoms and policies of quarantine) and was not able to hear me when I explained reasons behind all absences including switching to the at home platform. She and the office staff treated me as if I was a dead beat parent that didn’t care and was not able to see how much we were struggling in this new system. No grace on their part. That said, even though there are good teachers there, the administration is awful and I do not recommend sending your child there unless you don’t care about the leadership they are exposed to every day.

I wouldn’t even given it a one star, but that was the only way I could leave this review. This is the WORST!!!! School district. In the whole state of Colorado. The bulling started when my daughter was in fifth grade at Henderson. The administration (principal and vice principal) didn’t want to punish the one that was causing the problem, so they made my daughter out to be the problem and also with them going onto 6th grade that wasn’t there problem anymore. Thank god covid happened so my daughter could relax for a few. Then when it started back up again at Stewart. The “new principal and vice principal” were to preoccupied on letting everyone know that the got a pay raise to let all of this start over again. Now it has come to the best decision (and yours too) to remove my daughter from this horrible school district.

Bad on many levels. Let our son fall between the cracks even with the 504 plan. Bullying is a big problem, that is not solved by a hand shake, as the staff has tied. We have another child who will have to go through this system too and dont expect any improvements :-(

We are most troubled about the lack of control regarding bullying. Mrs. Dunaway has really let us down. My son was sucker punched in the face by another student who had hit other children in the past. No suspension or anything. Weeks later he used a bad word toward a teacher and was suspended for several days. Priorities?? There have been plenty of other issues like this as well and nothing happens. Our son doesn't feel safe there, perhaps its time to look elsewhere.

Great school. I'm not sure why it's rated so low

My daughter just started 6th grade and our experience has been great so far. The enthusiasm of the principal and the commitment of the staff are a welcome change from her elementary school.

Teachers and admin office focus on the wrong things. Instead of encouraging children they seem to dwell on the negative. There's never any homework! And boys are suspended for playing football outside for 1 day due to the fact they seemed to be playing to rough. (silly) Grade score level is low due to the unskilled teachers. Run far away from this school. On a positive note it's a great place to socialize and make friends.
