27J in general is less than stellar. I was having high hopes with a new Principal coming to the school, but it hasn't changed much. The teacher turnover rate is extremely high, even though going to a 4 day school week was supposed to combat that. Additionally, if you have a student on an IEP/504 plan, please continue to follow-up with your student to make sure the accommodations are being met. My child's academic plan has "teachers will check student's computer to assure internet usage is being used only for school". I checked my student's history and it was mostly YouTube videos. Lastly, we all know bullying happens everywhere unfortunately, however, I feel like it is really bad at PVMS.

By far the worst school my daughter has attended in the state. The bullying, fighting and disrespect from the students is amazing! Administration isn't much better either. They punish students (entire grade) the following year for things that happened the year prior. They won't allow students to change into appropriate gym clothes, yet count that as part of their grade. They claim it is due to security reasons, yet the school hasn't communicated any security concerns to the parents. Lack of communication from the school on any topic. Buses arrive late, which in turn the students arrive late to school. Considering looking for another school, one that not only cares about education, but the safety and mental health of students

no concern for students and honoring diversity; most effective teachers forced out; principal does not respond to concerns

My daughter is super bright but did miserably here. The classes were to large in no teacher invested in my daughter or her learning. She was continually bullied and the school basically did nothing. They made promises on how they were going to address it. But did not follow through.

The class rooms are way to large. Only a few teachers engage the students. They allow bullying and do not protect the students. The officer they have talks down to the students, has favoritism and threatens them. If you have a special needs child, they do nothing to assist these children. Again a couple of great teachers but the rest just give lip service.

As a parent of a current 8th grader and a former student, I can say with great confidence that PVMS is a wonderful school. The new administrative team is doing wonderful things within the building. The office staff is so friendly and helpful! The teachers show true care and support for student success. Even the traffic situation is better thanks to the new SRO! I am so grateful that my sons attended this school ~ they have bright futures largely in part to their experience here!

Excellent honors programs for advanced students. The music program is top notch with a wonderful band director. The administration are very approachable and we'll connected with both parents and students. Absolutely will not hesitate to send my younger two children to this great school.

Test scores should not affect your opinions or willingness to send your child to this school. I have a child in 7th grade and an 8th grader, both of my children love it here. Your child is able to excel socially and as long as the motivation is there your child will be able to grow. We moved schools from Stuart also in the area last year due to lack of grade level education, the difference is noticeable. Many of the instructors have advanced degrees and are able to execute lessons properly. Bullying does happen occasionally but it is not common as most of these parents say. As long is your child has ability to learn and have fun they will strive in this environment. This is the best available middle school option in the area, including the charter in the Brighton area.

If you want your child to be focused on school and feel safe at the same time, this is not the school for you. If you have a little bully, they will fit right in!

I have a 6th and 8th grader that attend this school and I moved my 8th grader last year from a charter school in Jeffco School District and she has absolutely loved this school even better than that one! My 6th grader comes home everyday saying he had an amazing day with no bullying whatsoever. I know the education scores don't look the best, but both of my children are in advanced math classes and doing quite well being thoroughly challenged! In fact my 8th grader is in Geometry which is technically a 10th grade level class and my 6th grader is in Pre Algebra which is a 8th grade level! Don't overlook this school due to it's scores and past reputation it is a newer school and is continuing to get better and better in that area. The teachers are very well educated and many have Master Degrees. Also for my kids to have such an amazing experience everyday with their peers and teachers is worth more than anything to me!

I feel that half of the teachers are very good but then the other half just do not care about students. They say they are there to help with parents or administrators but really do not give the time to students. We have seen this in 6th and 7th grades so far. It is unfortunate that adminstration does not look into this more and really release teachers like this as it really does just make students and parents frustrated.

The school building is very nice, unfortunately the classes are already large, the teachers are unable to really observe the students which allows bullying and harassment. The principal was rarely available and the assistant principal is very naive and does not deal well or fairly with incidents. Our child was pulled out after one semester.
