The school is fine it's just the staff when you walk in it's like they hate there jod they always have an attitude and stuff when you ask questions or anything they have an attitude other then that the 6th grade teachers are nice and help you learn easily and the food isn't the best one time I got a burrito and it was basically a bunch of lettuce and a few pieces of meat.... Ew

I am the guardian of my grandchild. From the beginning I've been concerned about the lack of opportunities for parent involvement, non-communication/response by administration, the uncaring attitude in general, and bullying. One: There is no parent group: If there are opportunities for involvement, they keep it hidden--see below-- they don't answer inquiries. I do NOT feel welcome in this school. Two: Lack of communication. As someone who had worked for a school district for over 10 years (and had children in Denver, Jeffco and an Englewood Charter) and volunteered in varied capacities at all my kids' schools at all grade levels (including PTO, School Accountability and Gifted and Talented) I am appalled at the lack of response to valid inquiries via email, sent separately to the school counselor, the 6th grade dean, and principal. The office staff seems to lack information as well. Just never a return email or call. No acknowledgment- ZERO. So frustrating.Three: Uncaring attitude. "NO ONE LISTENS" is what my grandson says now at the end of the school year-given up going to his counselor, asking for help from the office or any other adult. I feel the same. THEY DO NOT LISTEN. How about updating that bulletin board in the reception area . . . most of those kids from the 2022 Track teams are in HS now . . how about asking a parent to help? Lol. How the staff can walk into the school every morning and not think about that-- so very UNCARING AND SAD.Four: Bullying. I was warned by three educators inside the district (separately) to NOT send my student of mixed race to this school. One a former staff member! I should have listened. Admin does not resolve issues well. There ARE ways that work. I've seen it done. They are failing. THEY DO NOT LISTEN TO STUDENTS OR PARENTS.I had hoped that with a new principal (he's in year two) that the culture of what I am perceiving as favoritism and outright racism would be resolved. But school cultures can take years to regenerate and for whatever reason this school is having issues. I am hoping to communicate this issue at a district level to find resources for parents/guardians who want to build community so kids are not feeling segregated and can find the joy in learning like they had in elementary. This is our neighborhood school and I really am torn moving the kids (we have incoming) to another school. Look, none of these kids should be felt as though they are less than any other. Hopefully someone with LISTEN!

Teachers have no control over the students, and they take advantage of it. Only a tiny amount of the teachers actually do have control, but the rest that don't are screaming at the kids which makes them more rowdy. I still attend and it's a mess, don't come here.

Come here if you want your kid to have depression because the teachers are strict.

There is MANY problems with this school. Such as the racism, homophobia and sexual harassment in girls. Not only is this school horrible but so are the teachers, One,They never discipline student for bullying other but are crazy about you having your phone out for 5 seconds. Two, Many students say ableist, homophobic and racist slurs and are never punished for it. 0/10 would not recommend

Just visiting this website to check on the status of the middle school my 3 kids went through over a 6 year period ending last year. Based on its current rating and comments I am not surprised that things have not changed. I have 2 new colleagues moving soon into the north metro area that are asking me about this school and the Adams12 district. I will not recommend this school at all, but we have been happy with our kids successes at Horizon High School in spite of having to attend and deal with the low expectations at Shadow Ridge. At the high school level there are lots of AP classes available and thankfully it seems that the bad kids from middle school either wised up or dropped out. We are lucky that our kids are pretty much self driven, so they managed okay dealing with the handful of lousy teachers and overall low behavior standards from the general student population. Was not impressed with the administration staff across the board especially the assistant principals. They need to spend more time in classrooms helping with student behavior instead of just being playground and lunch room monitors. Music, art, and drama programs a big plus.

I would have to agree with many of the negative comments here. I would give minus 5 stars if I could. Not at all happy with what our 6th grader has experienced so far this school year. We saw the school regress when our two oldest kids went through a few years ago. Luckily both were good students and could work around distractions of other students and choiced into Legacy's L2K program. Have not experienced any positive changes and and are worried about our 5th grader so we also decided to move - into the Westlake area. That way both of the younger ones can also go to Legacy. Thankfully we have Kahn Academy to augment their instruction at home. Some of the teachers are good, but most struggle with managing the classroom and the behavior problems of the 1 to 5 kids every class that ruin it for the others that want to learn. The school needs to do a better job with that, but my kids have not seen any changes. We will not wait for our 5th grader to have to experience the same. Our 4 kids have made us experts at school behavior and this school needs to reboot behavior expectations. Otherwise, do your homework and find another school district.

Not good. No discipline in the classrooms. Kids smart off to teachers all the time and call them names behind their backs. Kids get sent to office with no consequences. Kids that create disruptions and don't work in class are not held accountable. Kids that go here are the worst. The teachers are okay and try, but I will not let my kid attend 8th grade there because of the students. Moving out of the school area this spring into Rocky Top / Legacy HS area. Thank God there are other options.

Overall, you will have your best Shadow Ridge Middle School experience in 8th grade. 7th a lot of teacher are strict but some of those are cool teachers as long as you're on there good side. And 6th grade since some teacher change I really don't know but I do know most of the teacher that was bad are still there. So I guess all I could suggest is... come back during 8th grade since the teacher for 8th grade are really awesome.

Terrible! I didn't learn anything going to this school. If anything it made me even stupider. I was always in the highest math classes in elementary school, then I went to Shadow and my math grade dropped. Now I left Shadow and I am right back at the rate of math I was in elementary school.

Horrible, I didn't learn Jack squat from this place. Don't put your kids in this school unless you don't care if they don't learn. In short terms this place is like a 'daycare/playground' for older kids.

After reading the reviews for Shadow Ridge I was sceptical and worried my kids would not receive a good education. I have two kids with IEP's and one has already tested out. I am extremely pleased with their progress and success. Every time I have had a concern, the administration/teachers have gone above and beyond. As one parent said some teachers are better than others but I am pleased so far. I really want to extend my gratitude to all the teachers and staff for yesterday's evacuation. You all did an outstanding job. The buses were there very quickly, the line went fairly smoothly (considering all the parents there to pick up their kids). You were in communication with us constantly. It is unfortunate we have to train for these kinds of situations but what an outstanding job. Thank you!

We have had a good experience at Shadow Ridge. Administration has been great. Some teachers are better then others. But, overall most of the teachers have had the best interest of my children.

So far I do not like this school. There are always fights. Boys were punching girls at a dance. Nothing seemed to be done about it. Most kids here are rude and ungrateful. It's a group of spoiled bratty kids! I am pulling my daughter out of this school. It's awful!

If I could rate this school a 0 STAR I would. It is very bad school. Teachers and Staffs are harassing students more than anything else. They think that because the school has law enforcement, they are thinking that they are being protected. They think they have the right to pick on students everyday. Especially the administration staff. Specifically a person named Bernie Donin. He was not respectful to students and my son also. He gives lack of motivation and confidence. I definitely 100% do not see this is a good school at all. There are better schools than this one in particular.

Going to this school I've learned nothing educational wise. I learn not to trust people and watch my back. And honestly that's all I've learned from here
