current 7th grader, this school is not good. (Especially if your child is a POC) the school food is good on occasion but otherwise looks unsafe to eat. most of the teachers are alright but some are just plain bad. there are other reviews from students that go into deeper detail than me. most of the white students are racist and the staff only ever give out warnings no matter what. most of the clubs are really boring and there is at least one gun threat a year. last year, a few weeks in a rumor went around that an 8th grader at the time had a gun and no one did anything. no warnings, no "We have it under control", no nothing.

First of all, my student/kid for dress coded for wearing sweat pants/pj pants and they made her wear this very tiny short shorts that half her butt was showing. It was a cold day and she couldn't so nothing about it. This is not a good punishment for nothing, its sweat pants not pants with guns, or drugs on them. This is not good for students at all, and even the learning. She was a top student at other schools even won rewards and yet she is failing and keeps letting violations.

Learning:Almost all of my classmates didn't care about classes or what they were learning about, only about getting a passing grade.Teaching:A few good teachers here and there but most just look forward to the end of day and pretty bad at teaching.Social-emotional support:Counseling is always available and is somewhat able to help with your issues, most of the time though your better off going to your parents.Special EducationI had a cousin in special education, on Valentines day they all went around giving cards to the teachers praising them. My cousin saw me in the hall and wanted to say hi, his instructor instantly scolded him for yelling hi and told him to shut up and get back in line to enter the next class instead of listening to why he yelled hi to me. For being specially designed at comforting a person's emotions that may not be "normal" or considered "special" this was especially harsh and he went home that day incredibly angry and sad.Safety:Fighting is a huge problem here, nearly a fight every month or so, most kids settled drama by fighting, the environment of the school is very harsh and not welcoming to those who don't fit in the system, I can only describe it as everyone is trying to get to the end of the day and anyone who had a minor inconvenience by you would instantly take it out through anger, both teachers and especially students are notorious for this. The school also didn't have any janitors or custodian, leading to the school to always be dirty and smell, especially bathrooms and locker rooms. Family Engagement:I have no comments on this as I am not a parent.

As I am writing this I am in 7th Grade about to be 8th . This school has its pros and cons. First the most concern is safety, tbh I really don't feel the most safe at this school. There are consent fights and half the time the kids don't even get any kind of punishment, if anything the kids who are just walking by not getting involved get suspended. I, myself was assaulted once and the school really did not do much even with all the proof. Kids constantly talk about shooting up the school and sometimes it just does not feel safe. Next with Teaching, There are some AMAZING teachers like Core Plus Tech, Ms Beers and 7th Grade Colorado Core Science ms Lockwood but there are also teachers that yell at kids for not doing something right when they really just need some help and guidance. They will sometimes kick them out of the room for no apparent reason. Third with Learning, I think its fine but off course there's always the kids who "I HAte mAtH". Social-emotional support, this school has some of the best counsulers and they frequently check in on students and you can talk to them at any time! They also do social emotional days were we learn stuff abut it. Family engadment is fine, they send out weekly newsletters and host events. Special education Is good, they have special ed teachers. Overall this school is ok but it does have its problems. Thanks for reading!

This school is by far one of the worst iv seen. There are consent fights and the staff doesn't know how to control them so instead, they yell at the students and threaten bystanders with suspension. They have policies that don't make very much sense such as their no phone policy, this would be reasonable if my student could still have their phone during passing periods and times not in the learning environment however they aren't even allowed to have their phone at lunch not even in their pocket. This school is not the best option for your child unless they have a special education plan.

I really wich I could take stars away from this school. There is no investment in these kids. Especially any children with disabilities. The school counselors suffer from apathy, then will move up a grade every year so any kids they decide they do not want to help, does not even have a chance of finding a counselor that will help them the next year. So many kids get lost because there is no care for any disabled students among the faculty or staff. Unfortaunately, parents in this neighborhood work full time and just try to push their kids through struggling. Teachers are heartless. Probably burnt out. And if you think the assistant principal is going to help, guess again. She could care less about these kids. She knows her kids with dissabilities are struggle and makes a point to, in stead of helping them, bully them. I reached out to the assistant principal with a concern for my disabled student. She pulled him out of class, and intimidated him into saying what she wanted. Easily the worst school in the district. I really do not understand how such a great school, like Stellar Elementary, can feed into this waste of tax dollars.

I enjoyed being at century school. There are a few things that I would suggest that they fix. I would rate the teachers a three out of ten. I do suggest the band teacher Mr crump Bertram. He is bomb. I also really like mr Billar. He is a 6th grade math teacher. I would rate the lunch a three out of ten. The homemade pizza is gross. They do a lot of things with cheese. What if someone was allergic to cheese. The breakfeast gets a four point five. Sometimes they just serve us bread with jam. What kid wants that for breakfeast. I would also like to mention how school starts later but then it goes until four fifteen. Thank you for reading my review. Bye bye.

Less than satisfactory. However, the band teacher is phenomenal. He is a master of teaching music and my son adores him. He has been the most positive experience at the school. I wish ever teacher could teach with such enthusiasm.

My experience here was dreadful. The events that took place were not my cup of tea at all. For any student. If you want to bring your child/children here, make sure to tell them to be prepared for anyone or anything that tries to get in their way.

I recently finished my three full years at Century Middle School, but the school will receive negative comments based upon my experience. Yes, the school does teach the students and I did see a huge improvement in my work from 6th grade to 8th grade. Most of the teachers I had were greatly effective upon my learning. Of course, there are a few in that bunch that happened to be real hard upon me. In 6th grade, I did slack off, but was still in the top half of classes. I did struggle a little. It helped me with knowing my rights and wrongs, yet that's when things started to get tougher. There would be nights where I stood up until 1, working, and wasn't able to spend a lot of time with my family. I remember coming home some nights and just passing out almost instantly due to being stressed out. All my teachers were nice to me (only because I stood on their good side). Coming into 8th grade--well--was horrible. Nights were spent the same, only less time with the family. I had one core teacher who treated the students so badly. One little mistake on an assignment would bring our grade down way too much. I started to feel like I was a stupid child and started to tell people that I was horrible at the subject. The 8th grade project only made it worse. I cried myself to sleep most nights, my parent would yell at me almost everyday telling me I was such a slacker, and I spent hours trying to research the perfect project that was unique, but I couldn't with such little time. For future students, think about the project before the school bring it up. It really is a lifesaver. Additionally, teachers never really pay attention to what is being said in class. During an educational movie, some teenage girl was informing us in the video. These two boys I sat behind just sat there sexuallizing her body and continued on to talk about their preferences. It made me uncomfortable. The teacher was just sitting at their computer or got up, getting a little closer to the students. Another time, a group of boys just started to sexuallize female students. Talking about each girl and whether they would "smash", kiss, or, date. I was mentioned.... One kid in 6th grade was even bullied three seats in front of the teacher! As an 8th grader, the whole grade was blamed for all the 6th and 7th graders mistakes. We were always yelled at daily! Just be careful when enrolled at this school.

Horrible! The staff does not care about their students. They do not have time for important matters. I also feel that their skills dealing with youth are poor. Opportunities to make great lessons are ruined because of their bullying I'm in charge attitude. They never had time for me as a parent either. I have to say the registrar Jeane is amazing that's why they got the one star is because of her.

This is my 8th, and final, year with students at Century. Overall, I think that Century does a good job of educating our students. The administration is welcoming to opinions and concerns and have always been receptive to my children and my husband and I. My children have thrived academically and the older two were well prepared for their high school experiences. All three of my children are academically gifted and the school provided them with the appropriate challenges and classes to help them grow through honors classes. The issues that we have had at Century are bullying. Our 8th grader has dealt with a lot of bullying issues throughout middle school. While early bullying issues were resolved, this year is a totally different. There has been a groups of children consistently saying degrading things to girls at the school, using sexual words to describe them and groping and sextexting happens on a very regular basis. The school needs do more to stop the bullying before they lose a student.

This is my daughter's 3rd year. I asked if she thinks there's a lot of bullying. She said there are rude kids, but she isn't aware of any real bullying. I feel very so-so / meh with this school. My daughter has had mostly good teachers. This year I'm concerned because her core Science teacher hardly has any graded work. e.g. In December - they only have ONE thing they'll get graded on! It's hard to end up with a good average grade if you only have one assignment. As a parent, I'm irritated by poor and last minute communication. e.g. Most communications that come out are missing information and I have to reply back with questions. Or they send out announcements for things happening that night...like everyone has a wide open schedule and can just show up to something they learned of that day.I hate the grading system (0-8). They can get 8s on assignments, but NOT on a final grade. And the grades don't average out. e.g. 5,5,4,5 doesn't necessarily mean the end grade will be a 5. And yeah, teachers complain about the online system - that "the system" didn't "take" the grade right, or it "lost" entered grades, etc. So there's either an application problem - or a user problem. The principal seems no nonsense to me. I appreciate getting same day communications when there are issues, e.g. safety issues, locker inspections. Once my daughter told me about a substitute that was creeping out the girls, being too touchy-touchy (hands, shoulders). He crossed the line with one of her friends (thigh, I think?). She reported him - and the school police immediately walked him out and the principal sent out a letter. I was proud of the girl who reported him - and glad the administration took swift action.I can't really gauge if the students are learning the right things that will prepare them for college and real life...So - while I can't rave about this school, my daughter's experience seems to be OK (and grateful it was definitely better than my Jr High!).

My son was a proficient/advanced student. I chose my house based on the rating of this school and other nearby schools. I was shocked by how low quality the teachers were at this school. I emailed all of his teachers at the beginning of the year to let them know I was there if my son struggled at all. I asked them to contact me if there was any issue. At one point, one of them emailed me because my son was talking too much in class. I was not contacted besides that. In January, I learned my son who had always been high performing failed all of his content classes. I was furious. In the second semester, one of the teachers emailed me, while my son was in her class, that she wasn't sure if he was "getting it" but was obviously on her computer instead of teaching. This is based on my experience when I am a school principal. I pulled my son from the school after one year. I was appalled.

I am giving this school a 3 star because I don't have an option to give it a 2.5 star. There is a lot of problems with this school. First, I have had 2 children here and both of which have had their share of "terrible teachers." There is a lot of miscommunication with the staff, their students and communication with parents. First, there is a significant problem with the grading system. Some teachers don't enter grades at all, while some do. I have had issues with teachers losing or claiming to have not seen assignments, which they have clearly been graded and not marked correctly in the grade book. There has been many instances where my children have gone for help and have been told to ask other classmates for help as the teacher doesn't have time to explain to them. I am very disappointed in this school as a whole. Not to mention there is an abundance of problems with bullying and the appropriate teachers/principles penalizing the child that is being bullied instead of the bully. I could elaborate further with additional comments, but will refrain. In my opinion, this school needs some work and they need to actually hire teachers that want to be there and help the kids as opposed to those who don't. They are not helping our children succeed.

Some of the teachers don't help. The principle does not reply to the question we ask, some of the kids give opinions on how to make this school a better school, but the principle doesn't care. The teachers do not give out extra credit, and some of the teachers are boring. My math teachers room is dark she doesn't turn on the lights, this makes the students bored and they do not pay attention.

This is my 3rd year at this school. My greatest concern is that there's tons of cliques! I absolutely hate how the "popular kids" treat the "losers". Other than, it's a great school. The teachers are super nice and they help you out a lot! But, if you're not rich or your kid has low self esteem, do not take them here. They will suffer.
