My son has been at STEM Lab for 7 years and we couldn't be happier. The teachers really support my son in his efforts outside of school and he excels at school. Problem Based Learning format is great. Great school, staff, teachers and environment!

Excellent. The Teachers and Principals truly care for the kids at STEM Lab. For example, my child was having behavioral issues, the teachers and leadership staff looked beyond the surface of the behavior to help determine the cause. They developed a program to help him adjust and were transparent about the process keeping us in the loop on a daily basis via email and through in-person meetings. AND... academically my child is growing by leaps and bounds, so much that he is performing above grade level in all subjects!

I like this school, but my child has been bullied and they weren't really effective in stopping it. Untill it blew up and was a bad situation. Other than that the school is great.

Amazing staff and community! The kids I've seen here have great respect for each other and themselves. They also have amazing field trips, especially in 2nd grade!

STEM Magnet Lab School has been a great fit for our daughter. The teachers and staff are wonderful, and there are great opportunities for the students. We like that the school is made up of "normal" kids, not just G&T, and the focus is on problem-solving. We have been very impressed.

I was a student who attended STEM Magnet Lab School. I wasn't chosen in the lottery at first but 2 months of the schools very first year we had gotten a letter that said I had a chance to transfer to their sixth grade class. I was nervous at first but you know what? I had no reason to be! The class sizes are small that you get to know everyone. The teachers there are amazing! They get to know you and I think that's what helped me improve my test scores. They helped me become what I am today and they have also prepared me for the future! Honestly if you're looking for a great school this is the one. Don't take it from a parent take it from me, a student that went there all 3 years and loved every bit of it!

Our son was selected in the lottery for the first year this school opened. We were super excited, as was he. Most of the teachers did even know how to use their own online grading system (Infinite Campus) we found many incorrect grades posted, and our son was very upset. The one teach he like left the school half way through. The principal was probably the worst part of the school, she was all about herself, and how she looked for pulling the school together. We removed our son from the school ate his request with only one month left in the year. He hated it that bad. I don't blame the STEM idea, I prefer it, but not with the leadership and teachers they had.

We weren't sure about working through the growing pains of a brand new school, but we went for it anyway. It's proven a God-send. It's not just a STEM program, it's "STEM Lab". There is a ton of hands-on learning, regular shark-tank presentations, learning field trips, etc. Sure, there is a lot of homework, but that's part of the "secret" to their success. The learning continues at home. STEM Lab is one of the top performing schools in the district, second only to the "advanced" schools that take students by placement, not lottery. That means they take nearly the same caliber of student as the neighborhood schools and cranks out "advanced" ones. If you have an "average" kid and want something better, STEM Lab is the place. I feel the need to rebut some past posts. Have no illusions going in, this is STEM. Yes, they teach reading, writing, social studies, art, music, etc. but their focus is on STEM subjects. If you want a "balanced" education, stick with a neighborhood school. The principal that some complained about has now moved on to greener pastures. She is, however, the one responsible for assembling such a spectacular staff, and will be missed by many.

This school has gone from an amazing idea to a true educational leader in our community. The focus on 21st century skills is not only essential but the way the school goes about integrating these skills into the curriculum is outstanding. The Problem Based Learning Model is truly the wave of the future in education. My child has been at STEM from the beginning and he is a 'raving fan' of the school...so proud do be a part of it.

While the concept of this school is great, it does not support a fully balanced curriculum. The students are learning how to use technology for every part of life. While this is where much of the world is going, they don't actually WRITE anything. My student's handwriting is still terrible and is not the exception. You can see from their test scores that writing is not a priority. Even the best teachers here are teaching for the testing, not necessarily for problem-solving and critical thinking. While this may be the best that Adams 12 has to offer, it is definitely not worth the high marks they've been given. Parent volunteering is high, which is a great thing about this school. We are able to attend to our children in the classroom environment and witness how the teachers teach, so we may supplement at home. This school, like many in Adams 12, require major parent supplementation in order for the students to excel.

Our family feels grateful everyday that we had decided to try for the lottery in 2010 to get our daughter into STEM. Our daughter is being taught in a way that encourages her individual creativity and input. Because of STEMs additional focuses on engineering and technology, we feel that she is very well-rounded in her base knowledge of the world around her. She recently taught me all about Geocaching. Since 2010 our Principal has changed. Both Principals have been very educated and organized. Our new principal is more hands on. She is also a parent! It is obvious with her attention to each classroom that she is dedicated to helping her teachers create an environment filled with respect and learning. Thank you STEM!

Fantastic, hands-on learning at STEM Magnet School. Our daughter was part of the inaugural class and will be graduating this year into High School with excellent study skills. The teaching staff is engaged with parents and uses a variety of resources (Facebook, school website, etc.) to communicate assignments and expectations. I high recommend this school to any parent.

I Love this School. They are teaching my son problem solving skills for the real world! The teachers have been great. I have spoke with the Principle and found her to the point and straight forward. I think her job is to run the school not cater to parents. The kids are getting a great education! Thats what I want for my son.
