Bullying incidents are swept under the rug and not dealt with on multiple occasions. Very disappointed in the school administration. Ten out of ten would NOT recommend sending your child here.

I have no experience with the school's educational aspect but when I called the school to request a tour for a potential new student, the principal was "too overwhelmed" to provide a tour.

It's not a bad school but its not a good school maybe fix the teachers and this would be a better school

As a former student—do not send your child here. Worst experience of my life. HOMEWORK-Homework is reasonable unless you have a learning disability like adhd or add then there is very little forgiveness. TEACHERS-Almost every teacher there acts like they are being forced to work that job. They make little to to attempts to connect with students and are often very rude and disrespectful. It’s obvious they have no training in how to deal with different kinds of students. LEADERSHIP- There is none. CHARACTER- This school does not develop character, in fact the lack of trust and respect for students makes students more likely to be sneaky and disobedient because there is no mutual respect. LEARNING DIFFERENCES- If your child has a learning disability do NOT send them here. They do not know how to work with kids with learning differences. BULLYING- This school consistently turns a blind eye to bully and sexual harassment/assault i can not express how many times i have seen or experiences a male classmate inappropriately touch a female student in front of a teacher and that teacher as seen it and said nothing. If you are a girl, have a learning disability (adhd, add, autism, etc) you will be mistreated and the staff will not care. About half of the teachers at kernodle are literal bullies as well they talk to 11-14 yr olds will so little respect it actually blows my mind.

As a public school goes if your student is average and falls in line Kernodle is a good school. If there are any reasons your student does not fit the mold, they get left behind.

My son is in 8th grade now at Kernodle. He complained every year about teachers. A few that he loves but for the most part said all they do is yell at students and makes him very uncomfortable. He is a quiet kid so he isn't any any trouble but it makes him uneasy and not want to be there. This year he doesn't like one in particular. I understand that they are trying to prepare for high school but there is a way to speak to people. You don't have to be mean all the time. The saying you get more with honey than vinegar is very true. My son is completely uninterested in what she is teaching and therefore grades are dropping from a's and b's in first quarter to b's and c's with 1 d. A friend of mine took her kids out for extreme bullying with no resolve. Very sad because they are great obedient kids with a great mom. Terrible that the school allowed this to happen. Obviously this is more common than I thought as I read other comments. Pearce was a great elementary school and I am praying northwest high will be a better experience for him. Middle school is a bummer.

I would have to agree with the bullying as well as nothing being done on any of the below topics. My Step-daughter has told us for the past 2 years about this, and we kind of brushed it off but she has been exactly right. Kernodle started as a great middle school, and over the past years has turned into a bad school. It's all driven by the administrators who in fact don't have a handle on the situation and truly the school is being run my the kids and no one else. I hate to say it, but you would be better off to home school your kid if you could, before taking them to this school.

This school is ridiculous in not taking any steps towards bullying, My daughter has been a victim of bully since she joined 6 the grade, reports have been made to school counselor but this behavior only seems to escalate since there is no consequences or actions taken to stop it. Am very disappointed that my daughter is not comfortable attending this school any more, and that I have to withdraw her from this school. Am a very disappointed parent on those who make other students life miserable while all they want is to get the best out of school, my daughter has felt victimized every day At this school. Am please calling on the school board to act on this for the sake of the students who are in school to make a better future for themselves. Please Stop the bullying.

My son went to Kernodle Middle School. He was bullied every day at school and on the bus. Nothing was done. Bullying is out of control at this school. It just isn't the kids bullying each other. You have teachers and staff members bullying the children as well. Yelling at them all the time They are just pushing them through, there is no real learning going on in this school. There is no privacy regarding your child. If you call with a problem know the gossip mill in the office will start and everyone in the school will know what is going on with your child.My son isn't the only child to leave this school because of bullying. There have been several of my son's friends leave this school for the same reason.

My kids have attended this school and unfortuntaley one more is still there. Front office staff are very irritable and DO NOT call if you forget your password for Parent Assist because the person that gets it back up and running for you is very condescending and talks to you like a child. The great teachers at this school are very few. Their are so many who seemed to be upset and intolerate of the students who struggle and in turn the students who struggle begin to give up and not care. My oldest son who graduated high school struggled in elementary school (don't get me going on Claxton and their terrible teachers) and 6 years ago the teachers at Kernodle really helped him and encouraged him. Not so for my other 3 kids. 2 had good grades but still they hated Kernodle and it is so sad that they will always remember the bad times and not the good. Unfortunaelty I still have my youngest who continues to struggle, who is talked down to daily and he has given up and I feel he will repeat the 6th grade for the 2nd time. If you have a child who is academically gifted then you should have no problem, if not, then your child will not have a good experience here.

We moved here specifically for my child to go to this middles school, and this year was his first year attending. His 6th grade homeroom teacher was absolutely awful. She yelled, criticized, and I never spoke to one parent at the school that liked this teacher. On the flip side, he had a male teacher that was wonderful. I am thrilled this year is over, and really hope next year will be better.

If I could give this school a lower rating than 1 star I would. This 6th grade year has been horrible for my child. There are several bad teachers here, but one of her main teachers is just awful. The yelling and insulting the students this teacher gets away with is unbelievable. I am so glad this year is over, what a bad way to start out middle school.

My school is large but laid out well. Each class has their own wing. I have had two children at the school. Like any place there were strengths and weaknesses. As a parent you need to be your childs advocate. If I was asked to write this two years ago I would have given it one atar. We left for a charter school, came back with a different group of counselors and teachers and for us, it was a different school. Both my children were/are challenged: one has moved on to high school.

My child had a terrible 6th grade year but good 7th and 8th grade years. I agree that many of the teachers are negative, unhappy, and seem to not really want to be there. I think it filters down from principal and front office staff. But there are some great ones as well. I'm shocked a principal with such terrible grammar was selected and a top educator at a middle school. It does not represent well at all. Overall not a bad school but I think some faculty changes are in order to get a better attitude throughout the school.

My son is a student here. We moved to this district because Kernodle is ranked in the top 100 middle schools in the US. This school has been responsive to my son's individual needs and he is excelling there.

Our son has excelled at Kernodle and is in the 7th grade. He is in advanced classes and all o fhis teachers have been encouraging and have pushed him to excel. The teachers have been great at communicating with parents as they send home weekly updates on assignments to keep us aware of the responsiblities that our children have. Our son is challenged everyday by the curriculum and that is exactly what we want. Wonderful school!
