Excellent experience from K through 5th grade.The building was still the original from the early sixties, but the engagement of the teachers and the outstanding principal Dr.Bergman( who greeted every morning all kids by their name, all 600 plus of them!), made up plenty for the deficits in the building. This school building is currently under reconstruction and promises to emerge better suited for it's pupils in the near future.The school's teachers established discipline, guided the dress code, corrected interruptive behaviour. Outstanding teachers were Mrs Francisco in reading and grammar, Mr. B in math, and the teacher for the academically gifted, Mr.Harmon.

My family and I relocated from Sweden and enrolled both of my children at Claxton, and we couldn't be happier with the experience. The way they care for the children and the active engagement of the principal with both students and parents is truly commendable. The teachers, both in the first and second grades, have been exceptional in nurturing my older son, who was in the 4th and 5th grades. His self-esteem has seen a significant boost, and he's thoroughly enjoying his educational journey.

We love this school. Great teachers, very involved parents and P.T.A.Dr Burgman (the Principal) is very involved in fostering a caring learning environment. She greets each student every day as they come into the school. We bought a house in the area just for this elementary.

The principal is excellent, smart, and creates an environment that is conducive for personal development, academic excellence, and diversity. This is truly a great school.

This is an incredible school with a great principal, assistant principal, teachers and staff. They care about every child and work so hard to make sure everyone has a chance at a good education. The PTA is great and works so hard. My mother is a retired New York City principal. She ran an award winning magnet school which is still top rated, 14 years after she retired. She loves this school from the Principal on down. How this school only gets a 7 from Great Schools is beyond me!

I am just new in the area, and my son, who is a kindergartner, just started at Claxton, but so far, I have had a positive experience. My son's teacher is very knowledgeable and communicative. Also, having come from New York, I was wonderfully surprised by the diversity of the student body.

My daughter is in the fourth grade at Claxton and there is a reason why this school is loved by so many. The teachers and the principal have created a loving and supportive learning environment. They go over and above spending time with the children making sure your child is learning. With all the bad things you hear about public school, Claxton is an exception.

My children have attended Claxton for the past 9 years and I'm extremely pleased. Excellent teachers and a terrific Principal who meet children's needs at all levels. Highly recommended!
