We had an absolutely horrible experience with this school. Our sweet, smart, 5 year old was kicked out of this school because the teacher did not know how to handle a child with ADHD. The way our son was treated - as well as my husband and I - is not something I wish on any family. We were very upfront about the ADHD diagnosis and we were assured it would be no problem. As it turns out, the teacher and support staff are not willing to work through any “issues”. I would HIGHLY suggest looking for another school if your child has any sort of diagnosis such as ADHD, if they have difficulty sitting still, if they occasionally cry, if they get excited and talk out of turn, or if they like to run around at recess. It was suggested that our son was not at the intellectual level of the rest of the class because he wanted to play tag at recess when all the other kids were making up a different game. He was a 5 year old boy at the time. Tag is a completely age appropriate game to play at recess. To put it in perspective, he is now absolutely thriving at a different school, and his current teachers have nothing but positive things to say about his behavior and the level of his academics. He was not the problem. This school was. Please consider your choice carefully to place your children at St. Pius.

My son attended St. Pius from 4th through 8th grade. He was more than prepared for high school upon leaving St. Pius. The programming has continued to improve and expand since he graduated.

The main focus at St. Pius is on the Catholic religion and not academics. If your child is not Catholic they cannot read from the Bible during Mass or participate in communion. My child was behind in math. Most students from St. Pius need to have a math tutor if they go on to attend a public middle school or high school. They are very focuses on handwriting. There are a lot of crafts and preschool like activities that come home in the take-home folders. However, this is not a lot of academic evidence of what is being done in the classroom. There is a lot of hands-on learning and the younger children receive two recesses a day. However, the strict dress code at St. Pius is unbelievable-belts, button shirts for mass, no Comet hoodies, etc. The students are also strongly discouraged from going to the bathroom during Mass (which is usually an hour). The learning support at St. Pius is not adequate. The learning support teachers will place students on an IEP on a computer program for math or reading for fifteen minutes! That is not an effective form of learning intervention. I would not send a child here who has a learning disability such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, Autism, etc.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our experience with this school. We currently have three kids attending. From the sports to the arts, from the academics to the community, it has been wonderful for our family. We have felt supported and encouraged.

Excellent. I have loved having my children attend St. Pius and have never regretted my decision to send them there. From teachers, staff, athletics to most importantly spiritual life, it has been a great experience.

My kids have been at SPX since kindergarten (they now also have a Pre-K program) and my oldest is now in middle school. SPX provides a wonderful faith-filled education -- both Catholic teaching AND the practical pieces like charity, service projects, etc. The class sizes are mostly small, with lots of enrichment – sports is BIG, but so is Band, Art, and Drama. There are lots of other enrichment areas, too: book clubs, chess, Lego Club, cooking, painting, languages, etc.One of the best things I’ve seen is the school's response to the COVID-19 crisis and the switch online. Kids were told on FRIDAY they would be learning from home, and by the following MONDAY the teachers had made the switch. By the second and third weeks, my kids had regular zoom classes with every teacher, and many were broken up for smaller online sessions. They’ve actually continued learning and been engaged the whole time.

I have had 2 children graduate from St. Pius and have another enrolled. The school matches our values for our faith and our expectations for academic achievement. My oldest children were well prepared for rigorous high school coursework and to be moral human beings.

Our school experience was terrible here. I have two wonderful, smart children. They have destroyed their self esteems and desire to learn. I would never recommend sending your children here.

I have two kids at the school (1st grade and Pre-K): the staff, the facilities and the parents and the community around the School are wonderful. Definitely recommended.

St. Pius the Tenth is an outstanding school. Here, the students are given the chance to lay a firm academic foundation for future success. The curriculum offered gives students the opportunity to learn and excel in the core curriculum (math, science, social studies, english, grammar, handwriting, vocabulary/spelling, religion) and also includes Spanish, technology, physical education, library skills, music and art to enrich and round out their learning. The teachers and administration are excellent and well qualified. They provide a caring learning environment where the students grow academically, spiritually and are encouraged to succeed. There are extracurricular activities which includes sports, drama, music and many other clubs. The school is centered on the Catholic faith that is taught and nurtured in the classroom. Here, the kids apply this heart knowledge of God to their relationships with other children in a spirit of love for their neighbor. Stewardship and service to the sick, the poor and those in need is a hallmark of the school and teaches the children the importance of charity and love for all. I have had 3 children attend this school and it is a place that has given them an excellent foundation in academics which has grown my children and given them a love for learning and a springboard to succeed in high school and beyond. Most importantly, it has been a place where my kids have grown spiritually and has nurtured their faith. It is a complete education that teaches and challenges the students to work hard, aim higher and connect their faith with the world we live in today so that they can be all that they were created to be.

Outstanding! As a parent with two students at this school, I can say there is no better school for our children. The academics are rigorous and challenging, yet balanced; the Catholicity, character-building, and extra-curricular opportunities are excellent. Our children frequently tell us how much they LOVE their school, their friends, and their teachers. The administration is top-notch and the staff is outstanding. St. Pius X Catholic School is among the best schools in the Triad area.

I am a parent of three children that have attended St. Pius X for the past several years. We left the public school system because our children were not being helped or valued, and they were lost in a system that only values rigorous testing and standards. The curriculum at SPX is current and diverse, and there are plenty of opportunities for extra-curriculars, clubs, sports, and the arts. Their music and dramatic arts are some of the best in town for a lower-grades school. Their math and science teachers have fostered growth and interest in my children. Math is challenging and has opportunities for advanced classes, and recent fundraisers have provided for a new science lab. They do follow common standards for education and curriculum, but my guess is that it's not "rigorously" monitored because the students there have no problem meeting the standards that the school itself has set. There are benchmark tests in place to assess these things (Stanford, OLSAT), but the emphasis on the testing is extremely low-key and my children have never (never-ever) come home stressed out or upset over the content or duration of these tests, though they have always done just fine. There are enough kids there that my children have found friends with genuine common interests - whether it be sports, legos, or outside-of-school activities. Yet the environment is small enough that we feel like we know everyone in their class and it is more like a big family than a sea of unfamiliar faces. The administration changed several years ago, and the Principal and VP are extremely caring and considerate. They listen to parents and from a personal standpoint they have worked with us on many occasions to ensure that our children are receiving the best education and environment possible. And we are far from being large donors in any form or fashion the church or school, which says to me that they care about all of their students and families - not just a select bunch. The teaching staff is a great mix of experience and youth and comprised of a good balance of male/female teachers. The students are given a ton of leadership opportunities in and out of the classroom, and character education is stressed every single day. The quality of education we have received at St. Pius goes far beyond the monetary value, which is also more than fairly priced for all that they offer their families.

St. Pius X Catholic School is an excellent Catholic school that fosters excellence in academics as well as stewardship and faith. The teachers truly care about each and every student and they go the extra mile. I would highly recommend this school to anyone who wants a quality education for their child and they live in the Greensboro area!

This school is not one i would recomend to anybody who wants the best for their children. St. Pius is mainly 'below average' and, being a science teacher at another school, st pius science is just a joke. Their lovely Christian enviroment is one of hate and prejuidice. They focus more on the strict uniform dress code than they do on academics. Stay far away from St. Pius!!!!
