We have one child at Woodview and we have been very impressed with the instruction and communication provided by the school. His teacher is quite good at dealing with young kids, and we can tell they are learning a lot. The administration sends out weekly updates, so we know all about upcoming events.

After four years as a Woodview parent, I’m extremely happy to be moving onto a new school. Four years ago when I dropped off my son for the first time I had some questions. I was allowed into the building five minutes before the start of school and was directed to the office. Upon entering the office I said hello and the office staff looked up and the principal said “how did you get in here?!” There was no hello, no welcome greeting from the staff. I explained I was a new parent to the school and asked my questions, then went on my way. Another lackluster experience was when my child forgot their lunch. That morning had been extremely hectic and stressful due to identity theft issues. My child had seen me very emotional and also became upset. I got them off to school and noticed the lunch right when the school called to tell me it had been forgotten. I rushed over to drop off the lunch and while I was there I asked if I could speak with my child. Angela/Angel (the secretary at the time) asked the reason and I explained we had some personal struggles this morning and my child left confused and upset and that I wanted to assure them that all would work out okay. To which Angela said “we don’t pull kids out of the classrooms for conversations.” I was appalled at the lack of empathy. On the last day of school they failed to organize a proper send off for 4th grade students. They didn’t allow parents to attend and then couldn’t get the live stream to work. They changed the time at the last minute and sent out several bad links. When I expressed my disappointment I was told “we can only do our best”. Again, no empathy. No apology. No owning up to the mistake. There are several other instances that I could reference, but overall I was unimpressed with the school. It’s very cliquey and if you’re not part of the mom groups or PTO they take very little interest in you. We did have three great teachers during our time there and one teacher that wasn’t so great and didn’t seem to be aware of the special needs of our child. During the pandemic the other schools in the area seemed way more prepared while Woodview seemed disorganized. I’m glad to be moving on.

Underfunded? Maybe. Unimpressive. Definitely. The principal seems uninterested. The staff flounders due to administration's lack of direction. And the fact they still can't figure out how to extend central air to the rest of the school, causing children to suffer in class or miss days, while the office staff enjoys A/C is boggling. Look to Meadowview in the north part of the district for a better example of grade school education and environment for students.

The teachers and principal are hardworking, dedicated to learning and they take education very seriously. They use a positive reinforcement behavior program that gives students clear guidelines for behavior expectations. My daughter is just leaving this year after attending K-4. We were very pleased with the school. Music, Art and Physical Education programs are a nice bonus. Lots of parent helper opportunities and fun special events. We had nearly zero problems during 5 years of attendance. 3rd grade assigned far too much homework, but we talked to the teacher about it and we were able to work out a compromise. Thank you Woodview for a fantastic start to our daughter's education!
