Teacher claimed my child was self injuring himself in attempt to justify restraining him. The director later told us this was not true, and that he, in fact, was not self injuring. When asked to move him to a different room, our request was denied.

This is the best school for kids with Autism in Arizona! The culture at every campus is truly 'Kids First'. They want parents to see amazing improvements in their children, and all staff members help support students academically, socially, and emotionally! They believe in teaching kids strong character values, and they have the resources to do it! They're able to make modifications in the classroom to meet students needs. Their education program is HIGHLY individualized, ensuring that every students needs are met. Students are put in classrooms with other students who are on their same level academically and socially, that way they can make lifelong friendships all while learning at the right pace for them. My life has been changed by Autism Academy, and I've had the honor of seeing many lives changed dramatically for the better here! Students are able to make friends and feel that they fit in just the way they are! They are accepted and loved. Staff members are like family, and professionally trained monthly to ensure everyone is always on the same page with the way they implement different de-escalation techniques and teaching methods. I am truly blessed to have AAED in my life! Autism Education is their expertise!

Autism Academy has an inclusive and wholistic approach to the curriculum and students. They are not just an academic focused school or a therapy specific school. They provide academics along with social-emotional education and therapy services. After working here for quite a long time I think that the teachers are what really set AAED apart from other schools for autism. The teachers go above and beyond and make sure they are meeting the needs of all their students and always take on any challenge that comes their way. The administration is great at what they do by making sure each classroom is setup with the resources and support needed to run an effective program.

Our son started at Autism Academy when he was a 9th grader. We are very impress by the training that the teachers, staff and paraprofessionals receive.It's nice to have a school that actually uses curriculum that is specifically for students with Autism. We love the work based learning and vocational program. School is now a positive experience for our son. He wants to come to school to learn and of course see his friends.

They called my son autistic!!!!! And they didn’t teach him anything cuz he already knows everything! What a bad school, I’d recommend Lexington instead!

Unsafe. Staff can’t handle aggressive kids. The staff mean well but the management makes questionable decisions.

The absolute worse experience. The value business way more the students. The dismissed abusive behavior to save face.

5 Stars!!! One star for each year we have had with no worries about school! My boys started attending the school when it opened in 2013 and AAED has truly changed our lives. We have seen an increase in in learning and communication, a decrease in behaviors, and they finally have peer relationships. The staff is highly trained and cares about what they are doing. The program is specialized and highly individualized. I would highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a a great school for their student with autism.

What a great school! This is not a "one size fits all" school as they only accept children with ASD so they specialize in educating and leading children with autism. Their staff is hand-picked by the owner, Laura Newcomb to insure that each and every staff member has the proper credentials, training and passion to work with autistic children. They also have innovative programs like the Genius Program, on site therapy dog and karate programs, sensory centers in each room, gardening, small teacher to student ratios, on site Speech Therapy, OT, PT, AT and more. They help you review your child's IEP before your child's first day here to learn about your child's unique needs and to fine tune any part of your child's program that may have been unsuccessful or overlooked at previous schools. They have awesome curriculum and therapies for children in grades K - 8 and they have extensive programs for high and low functioning students. You won't find a gem like this anywhere else. No other school will care for your autistic son or daughter like Autism Academy for Ed & Development. As a parent of a child with autism, sensory disorder and moderate to severe LD, I highly recommend this school!
