Harris Elementary School is a welcoming and friendly school! The staff is attentive and willing to help, even when the student is not in their direct classroom. The principal, Mr. Roth, has an obvious passion for his staff and students and is always willing to hear out a parent. Students appear happy to be at Harris and I know there are many students who attend through Open Enrollment, which shows that Harris is the place to be! We love Harris!

As a 8th grade student who has been learning at Harris since kindergarten, I don't really suggest this school due to the Food they served since late 2022 until now and staff doesn't really do that much do bullying, its just going to the office, probably a referral, and the bullying just happens again.

Why can't everyone be like Bill? If your kids attend Harris Elementary. You know that Bill is an amazing Principal and human being. This is our 4th year at Harris. And literally Harris Elementary has been a God send to my family. As we have an especially special needs child/student. This, along with other factors makes our family especially at risk and underserved. I would have loved to give Harris 5 stars. Only I've noticed a decline in Mutual Respect from several staff members as of late. Particularly Jackie and Patsy at the front desk. It has been reported to me by other mothers that Jackie has been extremely discourteous to them during phone calls and visits to the school. My experience has been the same. But I never had any clashes with Patsy. Until today. It seems these 2 Staff Members feel emboldened to be disrespectful to parents. I can't imagine that being in line with the school's culture or directives from Bill. Other than that, overall Harris is exemplary.

I have two children who attend Harris and they love it there! We have had so many amazing teachers there, and the staff is always welcoming and create a wonderful atmosphere for the students. The principal has worked really hard to improve the school and the education our students receive. I am so proud that we are an A rated school and will keep my kids there until they move on to junior high.

This is my daughters 3rd year at Harris. She is in the SPICE program there and it is great! All the teachers and staff I have met or engaged with are awesome. Mr. Roth, the principle is constantly trying to improve the physical appearance of the school AND the education of the students. We even moved out of district and still choose to drive to Harris for my daughters education.

Horrendous and mind boggling. The teachers I dealt with la the most part, were vindictive and lacked character the moment I removed my son from their school due to lack of support in resources. There was no initiative to improve their processes or methodology. They were closed minded and closed off to suggestions or requests. The teachers I dealt with seemed so rude to parents and could use serious attitude adjustments. I did report them to the Dept. of Ed who told me I needed to address with the district or principal. I attempted several times to contact the principal and director about the vindictive nature of the report to CPS, stating "he wore mismatched socks" and "I was rude to teachers". Of course I was rude. They were disrespectful and why was the teacher removing my son's shoes in the first place. CPS laughed about the false report. I was terribly inconvenienced by this action by Harris elementary staff.

Absolutely awful the front office staff has been rude. When the morning bell rings the teachers stand around and don't tend to the kids. The teachers, do not communicate and ignore parental concerns. My childs teacher was giving her students candy and telling them not to tell the principal

today while dropping my daughter off the principal was outside we were parked in front of the school where all parents drop off their children and as my daughter got out of the car , he grabbed her by her arm shoved her back in my car and told her she couldnt get out there .. Now usually I am the type of mom that would freak if you put your hands on my child and knock you out but I did it the adult way and called the district they agreed they were wrong but it seems this principal gets off easy all the time .. he is on a complete power trip and my daughter who is a very good student has been suspended for other kids actions since he took over .. one kid brought a lighter to school blamed my daughter .. they searched her stuff and found nothing .. they didnt investigate or have both girls confront the situation with parents present they just suspended her .. thats just poor tactics in my opinion.. He leaves a very sour taste in alot of peoples mouths

We were thankful the year ended after attending Harris. The principal failed to properly address a situation that involved a police report and only offered an apology after contacting the district. My child's teacher seemed more interested that her students could pronounce her name with a Spanish accent and failed to enter any grades until the day before report cards came out. The staff seems nervous to make a mistake in fear of the principals wrath. The atmosphere and environment feel tense. I'd walk my child up hill both ways in the snow barefoot before attending Harris another year!

Dedicated teachers and they are always working hard! I am very impressed with the 6th grade teachers. They seem to have the student's best interest and are always keeping me involved in my child's learning.

This school I had enough and will be placing my son in a new school. The front office staff is featherbrained, cant comprehend a simple task given to them. Ive called in to have my son in the font office because we have an appointment, we arrive five minutes later for them to ask why we are there, what for even though I had called. Along with it took them five more minuets for them to call to get him up the office. During a meeting just this Monday 3/10 the Principal decided he wanted to text and play with his phone. And we were discussing my sons education I was so furious to say the least. The school has a ton of pink eye breakouts, and strep throat, lice it feels like cess pool of germs. Ive sent my sons class room plenty of hand sanitizer and tissues. I understand kids are kids things get germs but threw out the whole year my other son has been in Val Vista Lakes Elementary not once has he come home with paper stating outbreaks or gotten sick. Yuck! I understand the buses are not apart of the school but we are getting tired waiting 25-30 minuets during the hot summer so late! They do not provide our buss route with air conditioned buss its Arizona ugh!
