Attending SEM Elementary proved disastrous for my child, leading to our decision to homeschool. Initially optimistic, we were shocked by the school's harsh treatment. In one incident, my first-grade son was reprimanded for a minor issue, labeled "extremely defiant." Despite our concerns, the principal, Krystal, responded dismissively and aggressively. The situation escalated in December when our son faced bullying. Despite our request to keep them apart, SEM made him sign a disciplinary contract without our consent. Krystal misrepresented our communication and ignored our protests. The biggest issue we had with SEM was in December. We notified the school via email that our son was coming home daily complaining about a classmate picking on him, kicking him, being mean etc. We told the school via email that we would like them kept apart. The next day we received an email from the school with a contract they had our son sign agreeing to a disciplinary policy that will go into effect if he goes near the student. He listed the following: (silent lunch, unable to attend assemblies and recess alone). They had him SIGN this document without us being present or even reviewing it prior to. HE IS 6. The meeting I had with Krystal was TERRIBLE. She runs SEM elementary like a prison. She treats little kids like they are to be policed, isolated, surveiled via video and she oversteps parental rights on a REGULAR basis. She is a very bad influence at SEM and not someone I would EVER want to be in leadership at a school serving such a young, vulnerable population. My son came home daily so anxious and stressed that he was becoming non-verbal. He was sad, depressed and upset. She runs the school like a prison, overstepping parental rights and causing immense stress to children. Leaving SEM restored my son's happiness and love for learning. Krystal's leadership is detrimental, and I'm grateful for taking control of my son's education.

Most teachers were good but fifth grade was a nightmare. The teacher was horrible and all I heard from my kid through out the year was the teacher keeps yelling at us. She was not keen on replying to emails. I wonder even the teacher even cared about the kids.

I just want to say the past 3 years at Sem has been such a positive difference. The first year that the new principal took over you could tell there were a lot of positive changes going on and staff morale was up. My kids and family have great relationships with all the staff and I am glade we are part of the Sem family!

There are some very good and nice teachers there . However there is a key person , the front desk lady, they really need to change to a warm attitude one. She gave negative points for this school.

Was not very impressed with this school. The teachers seem willing to try and extremely new and inexperienced. The front desk needs an overhaul. Totally detest seeing the front desk staff who are anything but friendly. Especially the one we encountered. I think she is Brandi. She needs a lesson on people skills. She will smile at her select families. The rest of us get the cold shoulder. Glad this school was temporary and we will be in our zoned school next school year.

awsome!. All teachers have great knowledge and engagement with the parents. The principal and assisting principal have a lot of experience.

Excellent school all around. The teachers work hard to ensure student success and the staff were pleasant.

Sadly, our family has had some less than professional experiences with members of the staff at Sem Elementary. We are sorely disappointed.

Sem Elementary has a highly qualified group of teachers. They have high expectations and find time to foster each child's creativity. I like that they use a lot of hands on activities for learning. And as an elementary teacher myself I feel good about the education that my kids are receiving.
