Legacy has been a great school for all 3 of our children. Legacy promotes a culture of respect for students and teachers. Legacy has effectively prepared our children to continue our education. The administration puts students first. We are very happy with Legacy Academy.

Do your research on Charter Schools and what requirements and rules and regulations they are required to follow. The school administration does not listen to the parents or what they want for their child. There is little to no communication from the teachers or administration during the school year. If you raise any issue with the school, the teachers and the principal are very unwilling to listen with fully open ears. Our son struggled in reading, and we were not told until 3 months before the end of the school year and were told at that time that he would need to fail again on his testing before they would offer him any additional help so we put him in private tutoring on our own dime. When I asked his teacher what other resources the school could offer, she said she didn’t know. In the meantime, our son struggled. Talking to the special Ed director we received similar info…he would have to fail again. This was all very frustrating and disheartening. Schools should be helping children. Then, 2 weeks before the end of the school year, we were told that he would be held back in kindergarten due to his reading, and we had no choice in the matter if we wanted him to go to Legacy. We ended up putting him in another school who did a retention assessment to see if he was a good candidate to be held back…he was not. His grades in all other areas were fine…he would be bored repeating and should just be offered some additional help in 1st grade just for reading. Easier for legacy to make him repeat kindergarten and repeat the same curriculum then to try and give him extra help in first grade. Again all frustrating for our son and our family. Schools should be helping children.

We enrolled our son into Legacy Academy becasue it was a smaller school with a more "hands on" learning path. We were assured that bullying wasn't tolerated. We sadly didn't get to experience this. The school waits to react until there's physical damage/violence. My son was tormented emotionally and physically throughout the entire school year. The teachers have so much happening in class to react to all the "little things" happening in their classrooms. These little things were extremely detrimental to my son and behind the scenes there was no support besides when we got involved (the parents). I find it devastating that things were only truly paid attention to when my son had, had enough and laid hands on another student. When we came in, the Principal Ms. Thorn was very angry at the situation and her face was bright red as she was very loudly giving us the rundown of what happened. The Vice principal kept his cool. Our son didn't start this fight but did end it. Mind you these are the kids who were relentlessly bullying him all year. We helped our son understand that he was wrong for getting physical. You can only take being emotionally abused for so long until you react. We have him in therapy and also on anxiety/depression medication. For being eleven years old we feel this shouldn't be necessary. The discussion of suicide has been brought up by our son and it absolutely breaks our hearts. We kept him home from school on many occasions (check attendance) due to his mental state driving him to the school. We were told things were being "dealt with", we did not see any results. Do you truly expect him to report any or all inappropriate activity EVERY TIME something happens? How can he focus on his education if he never leaves the office? We don't condone physical violence in our household nor do condone bullying. This is the reason we are pulling our son from your school and we will be sharing our experience with anyone who will listen.I hope my message is heard.#stopbullying

7/10the school recently lost almost their entire middle school staff, they had to find replacements and almost all of them the students get along with, the other teachers are rude and disrespectful to the students.

Over all I would say make sure to ask lots of questions before signing up. Ask about the way classes are progressed through early elementary to upper elementary and into middle school. Ask about hand off from one grade to the next and what they do to prepare the students for the next grade up. Also ask a lot about the Board and how you would be responded to from them and how they handle working with the parents. I found that they hated interaction with most parents unless you were their friend or were doing something for them. Overall I would say they have some good teachers there that are in a bad situation. We left the school because of the Board and the inconsistent way the grades hand off the students and prepare them for the next grade. Even the teachers complain about this but in 4 years we never saw a change.

There are very few school that are better than Legacy Academy, and none in the vicinity that I would rather have my grandchildren attend.

My kids love this school. We transferred from another school and my children have thrived since we've started attending here. Mr. Naber is a great principal who truly cares for his staff and all of the students. The board is supportive and focused on moving Legacy forward in a positive direction!

It has been a roller coaster ride with the school. Last few years has been horrible with regards to administration and school board members. I have seen the school board president force other board members out because they did not align with her religious views. The teachers, for the most part, have been great to deal with. Outside of a few, which is normal in any school, teachers are pretty easy to deal with.

Neutral. Some kids get along fine and other kids fall through the cracks.
