Faithful Shepard is an amazing school that truly feels like a community and home. The teachers care about the students so much and it shows everyday. My kids have thrived in this environment and we let them choose each year if they would like to transfer to Eagan public or stay at FSCS - and each year there is no hesitation to stay. There are so many fun events and the parents are also highly active and involved and we have made so many new family friends. Great role models for the kiddos across the board. HIGHLY recommend!!

FSCS is a great school. The teachers are all very engaged and really care about the students. My kids really enjoy the teachers and the other kids. We have had no issues at this school like I have read about in the news regarding the public schools. The school focuses on classical education (reading, writing and arithmetic), and Christian faith. The school seems to stay away from the polarizing agenda driven nonsense that the public school seems to be mandated or be coerced into by activist teachers, staff, and school boards. FSCS feels like a safe place to send our kids. It feels like a safe environment that will let them be kids and still teach effectively to the mind, body, and soul of our kids. The community at the school is fantastic as well. Many of the other parents are volunteering and helping throughout the school year at events, clubs, and sporting events. There are a great deal of clubs and sports that children as young as kindergarten can get involved in. It is truly a rich community where you have a great group of human adults all contributing to helping our children grow into great people and citizens of the United States. I strongly recommend Faithful Shepard Catholic School.

I am the same person from the previous review and I realized my phone autocorrected Butel to Drexel. I have no clue how I didn’t catch it but I just wanted to clarify.

If I could give a ZERO I would. The principle (Catherine Butel) has her own agenda. She is a dictator and I would not send your kids to this school for any reason. Does not even seem like a Christian school.

The principal (Catherine Butel) and the board (mostly the Priests) at this school do not listen to the parents. They run the school as if it is their own company and have no idea what is going on with the employees. The principal had not even been in education for the 10 years prior to joining the school. She worked in the Scranton PA Diocese. If you are considering the school I would look up what was going on in the Scranton PA church, then see if you feel comfortable with the principal making rules for your kids.

This school truly is a community. Our children have made great friends as have we. It is so nice to see our children excited to go to school every day. It is also nice to see what a positive impact it has had on our children.

FSCS is a great choice for families looking for a great balance of traditional academics incorporated with faith and respect. It's a supportive and engaged community of parents, teachers and administrators.

This is a great school! Our children have made wonderful friends and love coming to school. We have been very impressed with the curriculum and the extracurriculars offered. The families really support one another and it is a great community to be a part of.

Great, but preschool program needs to be better integrated with the rest of the school

I love this school! It gives the proper resources and knows how to deal with all sorts of students. I have met and seen very different students and all have done pretty well in the school. Faithful Shepherd just gives off a good vibe. I have loved all my time there.

We removed our children from FSCS this year and have not regretted the choice for a single moment. While FSCS has great families and kids they fail to do great things with these great kids. There is an extreme lack of leadership or vision to move the school forward. Our children, after leaving the school, have redeveloped a thirst for knowledge and sense of inquiry. It is sad to realize just how powerful a bad teacher can be, especially when supported by an administration. There are so many other options available in the area - I encourage others to think critically and really consider why they would pick FSCS over the other options available.

This is a wonderful school for our child. The small classes (17 in our child's class with 3 classes per grade), coupled with teachers and a principal that truly know the kids and parents make this a perfect school. The kids are well behaved and there aren't the problems and bullying one sees in the local public schools. While it is hard to pay for education when it could be free in the public schools, compare the costs. At Faithful Shepherd, the tuition is $5200 per year, but that really is it. At our local public school, our neighbor spent over $1600 in, field trips, technology expenses, athletic costs, etc. There is still a gap between $1600 and $5200, but when you add in that you get a tax credit, you're looking at roughly $2000 a year for one of the best educations your child could receive. I'd encourage any parent to take a look and walk the school with a teacher, parent or student and you'll be convinced how much this school would benefit your child. My husband and I are extremely happy with the school and our child loves it. It was a hard decision to make when we were checking out 7 schools in kindergarten, but looking back now it would be so easy to make the same choice.

We have two children at FSCS and couldn't be happier. The teachers are wonderful, the classes are small, and the administration cares and knows every kids and parent by name. The enrichment program is thriving as well and more and more kids from the public school are transferring in since the local schools are cutting costs and their enrichment programs are suffering. As someone mentioned in an earlier review, there were some issues with a past principal who has since been asked to leave and since then, the administration has excelled. Most teachers have been with the school since early in its founding and turnover is very low. One of the best parts of the school is the sense of community for both the students and parents. While the education is second to none, the students also develop into young adults that parents are proud of. Take a tour and see how many of the students look you in the eye and say hi to as you walk through the school. This school is turning out more than great students, it is molding great citizens too.

This is not just a school, it's a wonderful community! Your child will benefit from: (1) small class sizes (2) dedicated, excellent teachers (3) a high quality education (4) being part of a school community where service & character development are built into the learning environment (5) learning about & acting out our Catholic Faith along with their school friends as part of their daily life. Things it's hard to put a value on - 8th Graders sitting next to Kindergarteners at Mass, 8th graders leading multi-age teams at Track & Field Day, teachers who know your child's favorite book, color & animal, teachers willing to shave their heads for a cause, so many great families working together to help out the school. We researched & toured 4 local schools. We are very happy with the education & learning community at Faithful Shepherd Catholic School! We highly recommend it!

We love Faithful Shepherd Catholic Scool in Eagan! The teachers and Prinicipal are kind and caring. The Prinicipal actually greets each student outside the front door each morning. Weekly Mass is held each Wednesday morning in the school gym with all 500+ students and dozens of parents in attendance. The school facilities are modern and the school spirit couldn't be better. Many team sports are offered to the students and the school competes against other area Catholic schools. The parents are friendly and very involved in school functions. The school provides several social networking and fundraising opportunities including the annual Septemberfest Rock With The Flock event. Faithful Shepherd is a feeder school to several private High Schools in the area including Cretin Derham Hall, Saint Thomas Academy, Visitation and Holy Angels. We are very pleased that we chose to send our daughter to Faithful Shepherd.

Choosing a school for our children was a hard decision; we liked the faith-based values and excellent education at Faithful Shepherd but we live in District 196 with excellent schools, does it really make sense to pay to go to Faithful Shepherd? YES, YES, YES! Nothing could have prepared me for how perfect this school is for our children and our family as a whole. The educators, students and families associated with this school are wonderful people and provide our children with an amazing education and community.

At FSCS we have experienced a sense of community, faith-based, action-oriented school curriculum, and now we cannot imagine anything else! We have had excellent teachers, each time a perfect fit for how my child learns in the classroom. The principal is an excellent leader and is involved, and is a positive presence in the school. The parent community is involved, friendly, and just a fun bunch of people. Some of my favority things about our school include: UNIFORMS! (less laundry at home, and kids get to know each other at school for their interests and personalities), Catholic mass each week (singing songs they know, with priests from each parish), Catholic education each day (little to no additional classes outside of school required for sacramental prep), and the rotating schedule of specialists each week (Spanish, art, computer, gym, library, and music). I love that as my children get into middle school (FSCS is K through 8) they will be in an environment that supports them through preteen, instead of an enormous middle school where they are expected to grow up too fast. Really, I could go on and on about what I love about FSCS!

If you are looking for an academically excellent school, loving environment, amazing community of parents and a faith-based education for your child, your search is over. Faithful Shepherd has all of this and more. Ranked in the top 20% nationally in academics, Spanish starting in Kindergarten, ranked in the top 25 private schools in the Twin City area and an amazing group of teachers. I strongly disagree with the teacher reviewer below. My family has been in this school for most of the time she quoted and Faithful Shepherd maintains a fantastic group of teachers. Check us out! You won't be disappointed. We welcome you to our amazing community of families.

We love this school. We moved our kids from the local middle school to Faithful Shepherd. It is a wonderful learning environment and academically challenging. My kids will definitely be prepared for High School. The teachers and leadership are caring, committed and thoughtful. We are not Catholic but love the Faith education. If I could do it again, I would have sent my kids there for elementary school, too. We feel blessed to be there!
