This school is great! They are working hard towards learning to teach and nurture African and African American kids, which means a so much being that the school is less than 8% Black. Still far to go but amazing strides in the last seven years.

The Second Grade Math/Science Team is the best in the district they definitely help all the students achieve success. There are lots of hands on learning activities for the students. The teachers are very caring and encouraging to all of their students.

Teacher bullys students And when vice principal is contacted and speaks with child she states child agrees that he/she can overlook the teachers comments. Since this has started my child wakes in the middle of night crying about school. This is our first year at this school.

I have 2 daughters attending Keith and this is our 2nd year there. The culture here is quite condescending and aggressive. My kids hate going to school here. Here are some examples of what you can expect: 1.) 2nd Grade, McmeekinGarza, a constant yeller and dictator. Don't be fooled by the Disney decor, she is no princess. She is trigger happy on consequences, public shaming and she is down right rude. At back to school night she told us all about how she would control her kids, if she had them. Typical display of professional immaturity and on a genuine power trip. 2.) The PE program. If your child isn't a strong jogger then they must be lazy. At least, that is what the teacher will call them if they get a 7. Seriously... my youngest is 7 yrs old. Jogging is not her strength but maybe you could help her develop it rather than humiliate her and discourage her? I know, crazy talk. 3.) Communication in general is lacking. I have sent various notes and emails over the years and a response is unlikely. However be prepared to be reminded how important it is for you to be responsive at all times - just don't expect it in return. 4.) Windowpane math? Omg what an awful concept. For positives, the music teacher is the best I have ever seen. He is so funny and effective. Principal Fisher seems very genuine and i believe she does her best everyday. If i had any choice, i would not send my kids here. Life is hard enough and this world is so full of negativity that we don't need to make it worse. Build the kids up, teach kindness by example and let them explore their creativity.

I had both of my daughters graduate from Keith Elementary and they both had a great experience, it is the Best school they went to, the Principal definitely rewards the students, one of my children was a Principal for 1 day and she talked wanders about Mrs. Fisher. I certain HIGHLY recommend this school.

We just moved here from the Washington Dc area three months ago. My daughter, who has ADHD and is in the third grade has a teacher at Keith that makes the children sign "THE BOOK" every time they forget their HW or are talking or other infractions. My daughter often does these things because of her ADHD. I am outraged at the public shaming of having to go up and "SIGN THE BOOK".
