My daughter is on her first year at Spillane Middle. Within the first week she forgot her badge, right away it’s a $1 fine. No grace period, no letting the kids get use to wearing a badge, you pay them or the kid gets punished. A couple weeks later she forgot her badge at her mother’s house witch is over 20 miles away. You have to pay $5 for a new one and can’t reuse the old one once the new one is active, so if it’s lost or forgot again, it’s $5 again. Kids get automatic detention for being tardy in the mornings due to things like fatal crashes on highway 290 blocking the way to school. My daughter was 5 minutes late for the first time in 11 weeks of school and was put into detention for being stuck behind a fatal crash that was in the news and as of now the school refuses to remove or correct it. You are better off waiting to do a late check in or let the kid miss the day so they don’t get detention. My daughter was sent home from school due to have a 100 degree fever, which is fine. The problem was it was the last week of the 9 weeks and she had test. She has not been given a grade for her Science DPM and took a couple of days for her LA/RDG test grade to update from an “F” that the school gave her to the “A” that she truly earned. My daughter is an honor student and it’s hard to work with the school, I can only image how hard it is for kids already having a hard time with school. Spillane policies are very much put all effort into fines and punishments and no effort into understanding the kids. The school really needs to rethink how hard they are on the students and relax on some of the small stuff.

Great school! Amazing Music program my kids are in Orchestra and it has been great for them. Great teachers and administration. We moved to this area just to have our kids at Spillane and it was worth it. This will be their last year now in 8th grade. They will have great memories.Thank you Spillane staff!!

Excellent school and wonderful resources. The teachers work hard and succeed as a whole with the students. The principal is caring and has a great administration. The asst principals are directed and challenged to bring out the best in each area. Highest ratings for this wonderful middle school.

Spillane is just amazing. We all come together as a family and support each other. I've made so many friends here at spillane. I'm currently an 8th grader and I have to say that this has been the best 3 years of my life ever'

This school is amazing! It is like a huge family! Like most it has its ups and downs but in the end they always come together! But then again like most families there is the mean girl clique and the gossip queen clique and then there are the too cool for school clique! Once we got the new principal (my 7th grade year last year) I had less drama but the year before that I had a lot of drama so if you or your kids come to this school my words of wisdom is its better to be a nobody then the gossip queens the mean girls the ones constantly dating and the too cool for school because then you won't have to deal with ups and downs AND you will be able to concentrate easier besides the best friend you can have are not at school!! It is your family and church group which in my opinion is just a big happy family with LESS ups and downs... But like I said in the begining it is an awesome school!!!

Spillane is a wonderful school!! I highly recommend. This is my third year at Spillane and I was always kinda scared for middle school like most pre teens but here there hardly any bullying and the teachers are hired only by the principle. I'm in girls athletics and last year our 7th grade girls cross country came 1st in the district we also are second in the district for the most STAAR passings. Hamilton MS beat us by 1 or 2 people. Also Choir teacher ms.Bouley is one of the best teachers! Spillane is a great Middle school that lots of people love! GO SPARTANS!
