This is our second year at Mashburn Elementary and we love it. There is very welcoming envirnonment and it is very nice to see the happy faces of the children each morning when they arrive to school. There is a big sense of community and that is what we love. The school is diverse and the staff works very hard to provide to each child what they need to develope and strive. From the academic perspective, we feel that our daughter is in a good level and we also see her learning while having fun.The other great thing of this school is that it is part of the Dual Lingual Program, so the kids that are part of this program learn english and spanish at the same time. We consider that a huge plus in our child's education.

Overall, this is an average school that is quickly going downhill due to the large influx families moving into the area, the school will continue to get worse because of overcrowding an already overcrowded school.

My two sons go to Mashburn, we moved this year from Miami and I was afraid they wouldn't fit in, but they are all so welcoming, that there was no problem. The teachers, and the staff really care for the kids. The parent asociation is very involved and doma lot to help the school. They have lots of clubs! Mrs Dunn, Mrs Escobar and Mrs Cook my sons teachers are simply spectacular, they are so caring and patient. It has been a completely 180 change from Miami to here.

I love this school! My son has special needs and they've gone above and beyond to not only help him feel "included" but also to meet him where he's at socially, academically and emotionally.

This school is phenomenal!! We have attended another elementary school in the past (in the same county) and the experience here has been night and day compared to the other school. The Principal and VP are both extremely approachable. You can always expect a return phone call or email from them. One of our kiddos has special needs and the school has been extremely accommodating. He is a part of typical classrooms and well respected. The principal has created a fun learning environment for the kids and the "trickle down effect" of great leadership is apparent within the entire school. Our second child is in the gifted program and I have been impressed how the teachers continue to raise the bar for her in areas that she excels and assist her in areas that she could gain more confidence. This school has special group meetings complied of children from all grades-they all wear their group colors on selected days and complete fun activities together. It is not uncommon for our son, who has special needs, to receive "high fives" as we walk him down the school hall b/c he has been introduced to so many new friends in different grades. Means the world to our family! Highly recommend!!

My son is graduating from Mashburn this year while my daughter graduated in 2012. For the most part, we had a good experience with all the teachers. They all are very dedicated and care for their students' character and educational progress. In the end, that is what should be considered when choosing a school. Unfortunately, Mashburn's reputation is tied to its CRCT scores as that is what gives the school it's 'ranking'. On that basis, Mashburn has been sliding over the years for whatever reason. So, if you want a school that cares about its students, Mashburn is a great school. But if you want to say you are sending your kids to an 'elite' school, then Daves Creek or Big Creek will fit that bill better. I personally think a child makes a school elite and not the other way around. I rather get value for my money when buying a home (instead of forking $100-150KK above fair value) and enjoy the beautiful lake scenery and nature than get too tied up in the 'ranking' system. Teach your kids the value of education and it will not matter if they went to a 9 star school or 10 star elementary school to become successful in life.

We have three kids that go here. My daughter is so sad to go to middle school because she loves Mashburn. Mashburn is AWESOME and I feel blessed that she was a part of this school from K-5...all I can say.

Love Mashburn! The school is small enough to still have a family-like atmosphere while providing excellent teachers and academic programs.
