As a parent and a grandmother I will State what I know. 1 I had 2 teens who went to this school when it 1st open and at that time it was GREAT, The JROTC was wonderful and Colonel Taylor was The Best. Both of my teens Graduated. Now we come to 7 years later when my grandson started going there. He had a learning disability and would loose focus but this school was made award of this, did they try to help NO, was bullying a huge issue? YES! Did they try to handle this? NO! Not only did my grandson get bullied daily, he also saw a young teen girl jump from a ledge, oh yes we had to do counseling on this one. So what happened? Well 2022 I was called 2 days after 11th grade started and was informed I would need to pull my grandson out of school and enroll him in night school cause well they had let him slip thru their cracks and could not help him to pull up GPA to keep him there. I had called many times over these issues to be told They would handle this and encourage him to pull them up and yes we did a lot of summer school. Would I recommend East Jackson Comph High School? NO.

I am a student that currently goes here. I will be a senior next year. Last year was my first year here and i loved it. But ever since this school year started I hate my school more and more everyday because of the administration. Especially Dr. Henry. He and the other admin decided the best way to stop bathroom vandalism, which is what they called drawing on the walls and vaping in the bathrooms, was to shut down all but 2 of the boys bathrooms for like a month. Even after they did that they still stood outside the bathrooms taking names on a list and had a SRO on the inside basically watching us use the bathroom. Now that they have gave up on stopping bathroom vandalism, they are focused on us skipping. As I am typing this review right now i hear Dr. Henry yelling in the hallways. They say high school is supposed to be "the best years of our lives". Well I am spending the best years of my life getting limited breaks and time in the bathroom, and when i get to go there is either a teacher, coach, or SRO hiding in a stall that accuses me of vaping or skipping. I am spending the best years of my life being followed from the vending machine or bathroom back to class being accused of skipping by admin even though I had permission from my teacher to go. Admin also profile students here. Just because I got in trouble twice for which i got a total of 4 days of ISS this year, admin (especially Dr. Henry) keep tabs on me and others, remember us by name, and call us out on random stuff in school. I think it was a week after i got ISS, I was walking to class and Dr. Henry yells my name and says "pull your pants up! I don't wanna see your behind" in front of everybody. I wasn't even trying to sag my pants, but how i wear my clothes is not admins business. Especially not their business to yell at me about in front of everyone in the halls. To be fair, this school would be so much better if it had more admin like Ms. Palmer. She is as sweet as can be, greets you with a smile, and comes to some of my ELA classes to help teach. The other admin just assume just because some students vape, skip, and write on the bathroom walls, they should just punish everyone. Wow. What a great way to spend "the best years of my life". As of right now, until admin changes, I would never recommend this school to anyone. Not even my worst enemy.

Best school in Jackson County!! Mrs. Palmer is an amazing leader. She always comes to school events, and deeply cares for each student at this school. The teachers are wonderful and very helpful! Lots of lovely student too. We also have the highest graduation rate in the entire Jackson County area! Kids are given my wonderful opportunities such as AP classes. We even have access to dual enrollment with UNG, Athens Tech, etc all for free! Wouldn't want to attend any other school. Go Eagles!
