10 stars. Great teachers, great principal and all the staff too. I have two kids at this school and we are very happy here.

Neal Dow has excellent teachers who are committed, caring, professional, and well versed in current curriculum. Also, the principal is always parent supportive and highly visible before and after school.

Neal Dow Elementary School is #1. My kids love going to school here because of it's way it runs and the wonderful principal, teachers, volunteers, and staff. I get assurance, comfort, and peace of mind as a parent knowing the school empathize safety & no bullying. My kids focus well in their academic & physical activities because of good balance of everything.

This has been a very challenging, but quite successfu,l year. Our staff and students have been required to learn many new skills in order to keep pace with technology as one of the major learning modalities of the future. The culture of the school was mostly positive and focused on helping each other achieve and relish academic successes, of which we had many.

I had three children attend Neal Dow. We were very impressed with the teachers. They are creative, thoughtful, professional and caring. It's unfortunate that they lack the freedom to do their jobs under the thumbs of CUSD and the administration. Although my children loved their teachers, they lost their love of learning at this school. This school is great if you want to prep your children for standardized testing. The administration will make certain your student will acheive the highest possible score. But if you are looking for an environment where your student will be enriched with science, music, art, languages, you will be disappointed. A disproportionate amount of time is spent preparing for the standardized testing. This seems to be the case for most of the CUSD schools. Thumbs up for remedial reading and math. Thumbs down for whole education.

The school is top notch. The facility is old, but well maitained. Best library in the Elementary system, over 20k books. Teachers cooperate and support each other well. Staff culture is one of excitement for learning and teaching. this school has more technology than most high schools, with over 100 laptops, over 100 PCs, Smartboards and document projectors in each class, even Kindergarten. The school and staff have high learniong standards and use a reliable and data-driven method of helping students reach their potential, should they chose.

i was a student in Neal Dow in the 1980s, then moved to Los Angeles with my family and discovered i was a full year ahead of my new classmates there and was put into "advanced classes." can't say what the school is like today, but here i am years later still thinking about it.

I have been caring for my grandson who comes to me with severe angst. His home life since he was five years old leaves a lot to be desired, however with the deep caring, patience and concern Neal Dow has shown, he is finally reflecting his progress with his studies. Just think of how many families have the same problem and how many teachers must face fighting through the mire to educate children such as this without feeling the sense of failure. I have noticed the interaction of children these days in many different scenarios and I have become more aware of the social pressures on our young. Without the help of a good school it is no wonder why some neighborhoods are falling on the wayside.
