This school has still a very long ways to go.This school needs a new principal that will actually improve everything fully and it won't be just with an eyes view but with actually getting more involved with everything.after my first experience 4 yrs ago with my older son who is now 17 I hate that I now have my 5 yr old in kindergarten at this school.i am hoping to have him in another school for 1st grade.i worked 4 years with the school district back home and I can say from my own personal experience, this school just might not ever make it close to a four or five star or let alone to the top of the charts with anything.

After attending this school I passed middle school with amazing grades. The teachers are nice and they care about their students.

The administration goes above and beyond to help these children succeed in and outside the classroom (before and after school programs, community garden, social events, food and clothing for needy children). The teachers deeply care about their students well being and it shows (interactive science activities, self-funded field trips, take-home reading material) . While the campus is not Chico s most aesthetically pleasing elementary school, some of the buildings are adorned with colorfully painted murals. Despite all these efforts, it is unquestionably apparent that the greater number attending McManus do not have the home environment needed for these children to prosper. These children come from households that are broken, neglectful, low-income, ESL, and single-parent run. As a former McManus teacher s aid, I would advise parents and/or guardians to be attentive to their child s social group as some students are ill-mannered (most likely due to a lack of parenting). However, if you are in fact attentive to your child s social group and if you are reading this review, you are likely the type of parent or guardian any child would be lucky to have! GO YOU! :)

I currently have an 8yr old grandaughter in the 3rd grade who, due to unfortunate circumstances has been emotionally held back from accomplishing her full potentiol. Private tutors, counceling, etc., and she is at a 2nd grade academic level in all subjects, we tried to have her held back in the 3rd grade for the fall semester and the SCHOOL OFFICIALS have decided otherwise, we have now acquired the services of a professional link to help handle this situation. It is in her best interest to be held back at this critical time in her life to give her a stronger academic threshold. JOHN MCMANUS ELEMENTARY IS NOT ACTING IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THIS CHILD AND IS LITERALLY PUSHING HER THROUGH THE POLITICAL CRACKS OF SOCIETY, upon checking www.greatschool.org I can NOW understand WHY, apparently my grandaughter isn't the only one they have FAILED to recognize as a child desperately needing help, unfortunately they only seem to be interested in pushing her through the system whereas she is no longer THEIR RESPONSIBILITY .... THIS SCHOOL RANKS "2" IN A POSSIBLE SCORE OF "10" ON THE SCALE, any parent interested in their childs education should think twice before enrolling them here ....
