Our 3 year old son has been attending SJB for his first year of pre-k and has learned so much. Half way through the year he knows all of his (upper case) letters, numbers to 10, is doing simple math, counting, pattern recognition etc. More importantly (for us) he loves going to school every morning and has made many friends. His teachers are welcoming and warm and knowledgeable. We also love the community, everyone is very engaged without being overbearing!

I can't say enough about the positive experience my son and our family has had at SJB. Our son is in PK3 (Wise Owl) and in his prior playgroups/daycares he had always been hesitant to attend and was craving more structure. At SJB he runs right in every day and is excited for school everyday. He is getting an enriching classroom experience with caring and professional teachers who are working so hard everyday to keep all the kids engaged and learning (He was recently telling me about MLK). The aftercare and enrichment opportunities are also fantastic with our son getting the opportunity to do cooking classes, sports classes, STEM, dance, and there are so many other opportunities for him as he gets older. Lastly, the community has been incredible and my wife and I have felt extremely welcomed. Friends of SJB are consistently putting together a schedule of events for parents to attend to socialize, get to know each other, and welcome new folks in. We are still early days as our son just started in August but we plan to be at SJB for the long haul.

The support my son received at this school came at a crucial time for our family. We were guided and provided with the help we needed. The strong sense of safety and organization at the school is especially valuable to me as a single mother.

I’ve had two of my children attend SJB, one who is still a student. Both have been challenged and nurtured in this school environment and both absolutely love the school and the teachers. As a family, we are completely satisfied.

St. John Berchman's has been phenomenal. Our 3-year-old had been in daycare but we felt he had outgrown the classroom physically and in terms of learning and development. The Pre-K program has been phenomenal. Within the first few weeks we noticed our child becoming more mature and his excitement for learning increasing. He benefits from the classroom structure and he loves his friends and classmates. Overall "SJB" has been a fantastic experience for our family.

St. John Berchman is an excellent school that provides a nurturing environment for my daughter to grow and learn. The principal is very hands-on and makes it a point to visit each classroom regularly to offer support and guidance. I appreciate the principal's open-door policy and the fact that my daughter's teachers are always willing to share information about her progress, whether it's related to academics or her personal development. The school also maintains high cleanliness standards, with everyone wearing masks to prevent the spread of germs. My daughter has already shown remarkable progress at the age of 2, spelling colors, saying her prayers, and even identifying the shape of a stop sign as an octagon. I am eager to see her continue to thrive in the coming years at St. John Berchman.

We enrolled our son here for pre-K and it was the best decision. He loves going to school and especially loves his teachers, Ms. Crystal and Ms. Eileen. SJB provides so many opportunities to get to know other parents and students with a variety of ongoing events and volunteer opportunities. Their aftercare program is top-notch, as well as all of the various classes they offer after school. Great for two working parents. Excited for our second child to start in the fall.

Our son transferred to SJB in Third grade. We only wish he would have started at PK. The SJB community is like no other. We are so thankful. The education that our son has received at SJB made us realize how behind the previous school was. It goes without saying our little one will be attending SJB as soon as he can.

Our family is so thrilled with our experience at SJB. We moved from out of state with a kindergartener and preschooler and were instantly welcomed into this incredible community. Involved parents and administration, TREMENDOUS teachers who genuinely care for our kids as students and individuals. Seeing them grow intellectually, emotionally and thrive with their little classmates has been so validating. The parents welcomed us, have supported us and included us in so many activities, the parent's org hosts so many events at the school and in the community...we feel so fortunate to have landed here!

I'm a mom of two kids at SJB. We landed there because I wanted to find a small, local school we could walk to that was focused on education but also helping them to grow as well rounded kind and confident people. Now four years later I am so happy we choose to come here and appreciate all the support and care shown to my kids. Educationally they needed some extra support, which the school facilitated. My kids work with someone on reading, math and on their confidence and emotional health. They love learning and are excited to go to school. RE: safety the school is laid out in a way that I feel good about and they've taken extra efforts to add even more security measures.

Our son started at SJB in PK3. This Fall, he will go into kindergarten and our daughter will be starting PK3. In PK, the kids benefit from the small classroom sizes (less than 20 students) with two full-time teachers. Parents receive a weekly newsletter from the teachers on the area of focus for the week which includes the theme and activities related to math, science, language arts, fine motor, art, and religion. PK students also have gym and Spanish class weekly. Students can participate in extracurricular classes (our son loved the cooking one) and sports. Our son has blossomed in his two years there, both academically and socially. The school community is just wonderful! Staff are kind and compassionate and parents are very involved. There are several events during the year to participate in such as dances, grandparents tea, book fairs, movie and bingo nights, festivals, playdates for the younger kids, and parent night outs. Social media (Facebook, Instagram) posts provide notice on events and information on classroom happenings. We have seen that recent graduates are set to attend selective enrollment schools (Whitney Young, Lane Tech, Jones) and schools like DePaul College Prep. We plan to complete our children’s education at SJB. Go Eagles!

We originally chose SJB because PK starting at 3 years old and location is close to our house. Navigating formative years with labor-of-love staff, an incredible principal, and wonderful parents has brought us a level of community, support, nurturing, consistency....I didn't know possible. We are on year 6 with plans to have both our children graduate Eagles.

An absolutely wonderful school community - supportive and warm, families and engaged and come through for one another. When a family has a new baby other parents are quick to step in with a meal and other supports. Extra curricular activities are broad and diverse, academics are challenging and students are held to high expectations. Could not recommend the school and the community more.

SJB is an outstanding school that provides its students with an excellent education, a strong sense of community, and a solid foundation for their spiritual and moral growth. The dedication and commitment of its teachers, families, and students make it a truly exceptional place to learn and grow.

My daughter attended St. John Berchmans School from PK3 - 8th grade. She had several offers at excellent high schools including a CPS Select Enrollment High School and DePaul College Prep. This school 100% gave her the tools to succeed and have confidence in learning. She excels in science and math because of SJB's amazing teachers and small class sizes. The community of kids and parents are amazing too - really great people. SJB is our home away from home!

I absolutely adore St John Berchmans school! Sending our children to this neighborhood school was the best decision we could have made for their academic success. The school's test scores soar above and beyond ANY school public or Catholic in Logan Square. The teachers are dedicated and committed to the students. The parent community is involved with lots of fun events and volunteer opportunities. My child started at St John Berchmans school in 3 year old preschool. She graduated and got accepted into several select enrollment and private schools. She had so many options! SJB fully prepared my child to be competitive and ready to succeed in high school. I would 100% recommend St John Berchmans over any school, public or private, in Logan Square. They are simply the BEST school in terms of academics, test scores, social-emotional learning and parent community. A+
