I am a mother of three boys - - two who struggled through the traditional high achieving public school system and my third who I could no longer buy into the thought that "through struggle there is gain." I finally listened to my instincts and sought a new approach. As soon as I walked into Greenfields I knew. The vibe was welcoming and warm, the kids were engaged in their various projects and the guides (teachers) were there to offer support but it was amazing to see the kids so enthusiastic, and so focussed on their projects -- they collaborated, they worked individually, the environment felt like a real life working situation and not like some factory institution. Kids were free to be themselves and they learn to be a community, holding each other accountable. Whatever social needs my son had were remedied through this way of interacting and the projects they engaged in were deeply enriching and life-enhancing. My son was learning high level physics at eleven years old. He learned more hands on important skills in two months than he ever learned in his years in public school where he had to sit and recite facts for testing. Greenfields is a visionary school that knows what our kids need in today's world to go onto to be successful, emotionally healthy and balanced and empowered individuals. This school has not only changed my son's life, but it has in turn changed our lives too. School is no longer a power struggle but a bridge that has connected us to deeper and more affective communication and harmony. AMAZING.

Our son has attended this school for 1 year in Grade 1. This school is everything I was hoping for and much more. Reason for us to look outside CPS:1. Homework was extremely boring and didn't challenge him at all, a page would take 1 hr not because it was difficult but because it added no value.2. The only part of the school he actually liked was after school.3. He was getting a lot frustrated in the strict regime.4. All parent's meetings were very positive like really good at the core, his test scores are good, etc. Actually that was the only feedback, core feedback for a kindergartner.How things changed in Greenfield.1. There might be no homework per se but he still enjoys continuing his work. He comes home and is excited to say finish that project he was working on, or a level in his core which is just his, not the entire class so is always challenging.2. Guides/Teachers don't wait but give feedback good and bad and just not related to maths and English.3. Getting a button and improving himself brings a sense of pride.4. He talks better and more openly and is more comfortable in talking to people outside his circle.5. He looks forward to going to school.As a parent I cant be happier. The session helps us as a parent to know what they are doing and see the amazing things the kid do.

Greenfields Academy has had such a powerful impact on my son. He was anxious to go to school before Greenfields. The school's approach is so different than the public school he came from that it completely empowered him, developed confidence as he expanded both his passion for learning and his social life. The school's emphasis on Social Emotional development and support for all ages has created such a kind culture of kids. The project based learning and strong peer to peer emphasis has brought out his leadership skills. Greenfields has shifted not only your son but our home life by removing the daily stresses he was experiencing and the challenges that brought to us as parents.

Our experience has been amazing. After seven years our kids still are excited to go to school and the projects they take on in their personal time are amazing too.

My daughter has grown leaps and bounds after her first year at Greenfields. Their unique approach to education has enabled her to thrive. We look forward to future years at the school.

We have been a family at Greenfields for the past year. Our son and daughter have an excitement for learning and exploration that they did not feel at their Chicago Public School. It was been an eye opening experience for what school can be.

This is a small school that focuses on getting the most out of each student. My kids love going there.
