We have two children at Audubon and overall have had a very good experience thus far. The community is super supportive of the school, the principal and teachers are caring and hard working, and our kids are developing strong friendships. The curriculum is strong on Reading and Writing, includes specials for music, art, gym, computers and health. The school is not blessed with a big property, but the outdoor play areas and landscaping were updated a few years ago and are very nice. School-based team sports begin in 5th grade.. There are afterschool programs available that have been hit and miss.. but we appreciate all the options we have in the City. We would like to see the school differentiate more so all students feel challenged.. for our family this feels especially true in math, which seems to be taught only to the middle of the pack. However, we find there are many enrichment options either within the school or nearby in the community which have provided plenty of growth opportunities.

What a wonderful school! We have been so impressed with teachers and staff here. Ms. Duffy (principal) is very responsive, has excellent communication despite all the recent hurdles, and the community is very involved. It's a little gem tucked away here in Roscoe Village. Very happy we chose Audubon over Bell and Coonley.

The positives first: there are very caring and nurturing teachers amount the staff, and the staff as a whole is very friendly and welcoming. The community has a very village vibe, though it can get very cliquey fast - there is a fine line between tightly-knit and exclusively obnoxious, and Audubon parents straddle that line. The problem is that the administration and specifically the principle allows ultra progressive models to dictate the school agenda and the indoctrination here starts in kindergarten. Educating kids thru a politically charged lens, especially in elementary school, is a gross abuse of public trust, but Audubon's leadership believes they want to out-progress the progressives.

Excellent. Very impressed with leadership shown by principal, how well teachers know the kids, and by the amazingly supportive community. So happy to have my child in such a progressive school where social and emotional learning is emphasized.

I would rate it as a 5 out of 10. It's a great neighborhood, but the school is not a very good place for learning.

Overall, I'm really pleased with the teachers and staff. The newly renovated school yard is also a great neighborhood asset with a track, basketball court and playground!

This school is fine, if have a middle of the road student, and as a parent, are ok with them being average. If you're not ok with that, it will drive you crazy. You will have to beg for updates on how your student is performing, as there is no proactive communication from the school.

We love everything about the Audubon community. We have a new Principal who supports an inclusive environment and is willing to give the parents an opportunity to partake in all aspects of the school from volunteering inside the building, coaching after school activities to helping create a vision that leads to the success for all students. In addition, the teachers and staff at our school are phenomenal...we support them in everything that they do! Audubon is definitely a "gem" of a public school on the North Side!

We have been a part of Audubon school for over 8 years. Our children are happy, well adjusted, and beyond prepared for high school.

Audubon has an amazing principle, a tight night neighborhood feel, and superb teachers. An overall wonderful school.

The teachers are excellent and the administration is great at involving parents in the school. There is a lot of community support for the school, including from Roscoe Village, and really nice families. Audubon has full-time art and music teachers, unlike almost all of the other CPS schools.

Fantastic group of teachers, a great new principal, and a welcoming and enthusiastic group of parents. Truly a gem on Chicago's north side.

Audubon is amazing! Not only a high-quality educational experience, developing the whole child by focusing on inclusion, differentiated learning and social emotion well-being, but because of the amazing dedicated community, comprised of excellent staff, teachers, parents, support staff, and community partners. Audubon is truly a gem of a neighborhood school and different from several of the other north side CPS K-8 schools because it is smaller, with an average of 520 students total - what this means is that there are 2-3 classes per grade level and so your child gets to know everyone within their grade level and you as a parent develop relationships with other parents. The parent community is so significantly committed and engaged in the school, and truly look out for every individual child, offering a unique and highly valuable support system for raising a child in a city. If I am running late, I easily text another parent to ask them to pick up my kid from school and it's done. Playdates occur on a daily basis. When families have new babies, classmates deliver lasagna to your doorstop. When there is hardship and trauma in families, your child's peers and their parents all chip in to show support. Audubon is at the heart of Roscoe Village, truly a village within a city - everyone walks to/from school, parents are always outside chatting, developing lifelong friendships and this has a tremendous impact on the students. They are more confident, agile, adaptive, well-adjusted and socially-emotionally healthy kids. I would highly recommend that you come check out Audubon today! We just hired a new principal, Ms. Meghan Duffy, a phenomenal educator and exemplary leader, dedicated to the students and staff. She brings her enthusiasm, experience and organizational leadership to making Audubon excellent every day!

I wanted to comment about the preschool program. The teacher is amazing. She actually emails every parent a written report on how the class is doing. These people really care.

Best CPS elementary school. Teachers are caring, supportive and simply amazing. If you wasn't your child to get a well rounded education this is the place. Organized fundraising, school dances and wonderful staff.

Wonderful inclusion of children with atypical learning needs here. The teachers are all excellent, caring, and fun professionals. The parent community is extremely strong and cooperative -- they raise lots of money for extras like Teacher's Aides, Special Ed teachers, and equipment, and initiate programs for tolerance and community service. The newish principal brought music and art back!

As a former student of this school, I can confidently say that this school is below average academically and beyond. While situated in a great neighborhood on the north side of Chicago, it doesn't match up to the kind of educational standards that you need to meet if you want to be a great school in Chicago. Its teachers are lackluster and its school facilities are very old. Bell Elementary is close by and clearly beats Audubon by a league and a half. Early on in my education there I was very bored with the curriculum there, and I felt like the teaching could have been much better. Their special needs or education accommodation is very unsatisfactory. Overall, if you want to enroll your child in a friendly environment, you're in the neighborhood, and academic excellence isn't a priority, then go for it. But, honestly, in the complex of schools in CPS, there are much better schools, even in the north side.
