So the teachers are ok But the office administration is the worst. They lost my school fee payment and tried to say they NEVER talked to me (which they did via phone) and NEVER sent a receipt via email which the did. Another thing is they lose registration forms have an email hat it was received been waiting since before school for my information t be updated. Reached out again and they want all this documentaiton with regards to me moving. I gave then this with registration. Just be careful! Make sure you keep every receipt every email any documentation from them!

This is one of the top schools in the city. There is no need to rate it less than a 10. This is also the most well rounded school

This website's methodology is so tragically flawed. It is using the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) results for many of the academic scorings, but that is only given to 3rd-8th graders. So it is only counting the ~350 students in the middle school program (Lane Tech Academic Center) instead of the 4000+ high school students. There are many other flaws, but this is one glaringly obvious one. I'm surprised they haven't been sued as these scores could theoretically impact housing values in neighborhoods where the neighborhood school's scores are blatantly incorrect.

US News has Lane Tech ranked #5 in Illinois and #79 in the country. GreatSchools has it rated 6 out of 10. There is clearly something deeply flawed in GreatSchools rating model.

I am not sure how Lane Tech got a rating of 6, it should be a 10. My niece recently graduated from Lane Tech and got a full scholarship to study medicine at the University of Chicago.

Our child has an IEP and significant learning challenges (despite testing as an "average Lane kid"). I can't say how amazing the learning services and social work team/staff is ... they care so much. Lane has changed my view of the "big public school" -- it has a personality and a heart. It is gigantic (and may not be the best fit for our kid, let alone others) but I will be forever grateful for how the teachers and staff have supported our teen. Thank you, Lane!

We have two selective prep high school students - one at Lane and one at Jones. Our perspectives of the two schools have completely flipped. Lane far better prepares its students for STEM education, college application, and life. And this is across both advanced and learning challenged students. The teachers really know the kids - despite being twice the size. They are doing an amazing job at Lane Tech.

1966 - 1970 the school was very helpful. At this time the school was all boys. I doupt if any of my teachers are still there. The classes (various shop, drafting, 3 years of math) helped a great deal in my career as a technical support engineer for AT&T. There where no computer courses offered at that time.

The teachers are caring and help the students to succeed. The curriculum is rigorous and culturally competent. There is a lot of support for the students and many extracurricular activities to get involved in. My daughter loves Lane and so do we!

My son attends Lane & we we are greatly disappointed. The size of the classrooms were overcrowded & unfortunately, it came as a price for my child. We're transferring him to a charter school for next year. Hopefully he hasn't fallen too far behind. The teachers at Lane just don't have the time to take out & help the kids. Well considering there are 4,000 students, I'm not surprised.

My school is unique...to say the least. I'm currently finishing my junior year at Lane, and the school has definitely been a challenge. If you're a parent you should send your child to Lane to experience diversity like no other, challenging school work, and to gain a proper education. If you're a student, and Lane is on your list of potential schools definitely choose Lane! As a student you'll meet sooo many people, and you most likely won't like everyone...but that's life. Overall Lane provides a well rounded experience.

I am focusing this review on the social event opportunities not the academics. If I'd known how the social events were managed I would have steered my child differently. My senior has participated in sports all 4 years and has done well academically. My complaint is with the limited opportunity to attend school dances and events requiring limited tickets. I feel that social aspects are important to consider as well as academics and athletics. I understand that there are close to 5000 kids at Lane and limits must be put in placed. However, I find it sad that junior and seniors do not have a better opportunity than freshman and sophomores to attend dances. This year only 160 tickets were available per lunch period on a first come first serve basis(last year it was 300). My child rushed to the line and the tickets sold out. It was a repeat of prior years at Lane. Again, seniors were not given a priority over freshman or sophmores. So 4 years at Lane, working hard, representing LT in sports and my child has not been able to go to the homecoming dance at all. Words cannot express how sad I am that my child, once again, was has been left out of an memorable high school event.

This school has many great class options, such a wide variety. The new LTAC six year program is great because it allows the students to get a head start on high school courses and then college. This school has done very great with this program by having such amazing teachers, so many classes and activities, and support by upperclassmen. Overall this school is fantastic!

Lane offers many more classes than any other high school out in Chicago. This year Organic chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, and engineering and design were available as electives. Next year Neuroscience, Apple Class (where you design your own apps), and a class where you build your own PC and design your own IOS will be offered. There are many more classes but these are just a few of the new ones. You get what you put in. Great school.

Along with the football stadium lane has, there is currently a baseball stadium being built behind it!

Lane is so diverse and so academically challenging, if you take the right courses, you cannot go wrong. There is something for everyone here and I do not regret coming one bit. I am proud to be going to the School of Champions. Who are we? LT!

The academic center at this school is amazing. It is very advanced. This school also has a great orchestra, and in general, music program (band, chorus, etc.). Lane is very diverse, with different kinds of people and a variety of clubs and sports. There is a great Science Olympiad Team here (both high school and the academic center) and a good math team. I would also like to mention the teachers here are amazing.
