Constant turnover of faculty. Most experienced teachers always leave only to have teachers who are too green. Have seen principal act completely irrationally toward faculty which probably explains the problem. To parent who thinks DCP is competition for St. I , maybe for some sports but in academics not a chance. Just look at the curriculum, experience and degrees of teaching staff. Just having a teacher stay more than 2 years would be novel, my kids favorite AP teacher leaving this year. Parents rule and my kid gets tired of working hard to see others who slack still get the A's. If your looking for a strong academic place go elsewhere.

This is a great school for kids who could just as easily teach themselves. If your child needs strong and suppportive instruction, run, don' walk. The school claims a level of support for learning differences that does not exist and views these differences as character flaws to be punished. They have grown wildly in the last several years and even for average learners, the quality of instruction is incredibly poor. There are far better options in the city of Chicago, don't waste your money.

DePaul College Prep is starting to become the top Catholic high school in the city (on the way to overtaking St. Ignatius). The teachers are young and, therefore, still enthusiastic about teaching. The sports programs are top-notch. The facilities are new and modern. And the socio-economic diversity is better than what we've seen at other Catholic high schools. We're so glad our child is going here.

My son graduated from DPC. The teachers and counselors were GREAT, thankfully, because the administration was not. One Dean is lovely, and the other missed his calling as a prison warden. They love rules and introduced many new rules while my son was there. E.G., they implemented a new rule that if homework is one minute late, you get a zero. If your child has any executive functioning issues, this can cause them to go from a high grade to failing a class instantly. If you value rules with punitive consequences, and your child loves to do homework lickety split, this might be a good fit. If you value compassion, emotional intelligence, and the human spirit, you might not love the place. If your child has any executive functioning challenges such as ADHD, this place might crush their motivation and confidence, and you might enjoy lots of absurd conversations with the Dean! If I had a rewind button, I’d have sent my kid to Lane or moved to the burbs.

Graduate of the class of 78’, this school allowed me to discover and begin my career, did not go to college inspite of a scholarship to NWU because I was ready for my career out of HS. 42 years now in the technical end of the entertainment industry

Okay so this is my first year at Gordon. People say it's an outstanding school and the academics are great. It is a pretty good school, i'm not going to lie. The thing is i'm thinking of transferring because it's not challenging! I'm in honor classes and it isn't challenging enough. I get extremely bored in the class because there's nothing new. Some teachers don't care and aren't really good teachers. The lunch is way to over priced and i'm upset i'm making my parents pay all that tuition and dumb fees for a school that's not challenging me enough. From a student, I recommend you to just take your kids to a really good high school. Don't waste so much money in countless stuff.

Gordon Tech High School is a beautiful example of a high quality curriculum, outstanding opportunities in sports, heart, diversity that works, teachers that give more than 100 percent, and a community that helps young people grow into fine adults. I am so happy my children are here!

I used to go to this school. The classes are ok, but some teachers don't clearly explain things and are overly sarcastic. The "school spirit" here is played out, they expect you to be "peppy". The pep rally's stink. The interior school looks like prison and the lockers are extremely small. The library is decent and you can get work there easily. The students there are somewhat welcoming but socially things get around quickly. The lunch is ok, but overpriced. There aren't a lot of after-schools programs and the electives are horrible. Teachers/Faculty give demerits constantly for stupid things. The uniforms policy is strict and you really don't get a sense of freedom or to express yourself, you look and feel like a "nub". The sports they offer are basic, but other schools in the area offer more sports/electives that are top-notch. Don't go here, it's not worth the money.

I am a '63 graduate of this school. I can't speak on how good it is now., but I can say that if I had not gone to GT, I would not have turned out the way I did. I and 4 others attended Purdue in engineering and all 5 graduated. I can't even count the number that went to U of I at Champaigne and graduated in engineering. One of my class mates is a math prof at Ohio State. I went on to law school and at 62 am still having a great career as a patent lawyer. I was not the best student at GT but the teachers and the atmosphere gave me confidence and purpose. So a belated--Thank youto GT.
