This school, although it does have a great education system, fails in most other categories. Not only is it unsafe (with many conflicts happening throughout the school), but the measures that the school takes to 'prevent' this are ineffective and end up punishing the innocent students more than the ones actually responsible. This not only causes students to think they are responsible for the actions of others, but it also leads to many students feeling unsafe in the school or uncertain of what will happen next. Many times, when one student does something bad, their entire class or even their entire grade gets punished, instead of punishing the individual. This also lets the troublemakers, who often don't care about their peirs, get away with bad behavior. The school also has an issue with communicating with students. When things happen in administration that affect a student (for example, a change of policy, or a teacher being fired), students are usually left in the dark, even when these changes have a direct impact on a student's education. Although the school does seem to be improving, with the lunches tasting much better and less burnt and soggy than last year, it still has a long way to go.

Failed to help our daughter with her struggles. They actually made things worse. Discriminated and labeled her. The so-called social worker was detrimental to our daughter’s well-being. When I emailed him about things he did or didn’t do, he lied about everything. Our daughter actually ran the school by walking in and out of class as she pleased. Teachers never told us about her struggles and missing assignments. When I would talk to them about our concerns, everyone there would look at us like deer in headlights. I would give a negative star if available. Awful school unless your child needs no assistance with anything.

Excellent school! Our son has been attending for two years now and we are pleased with the teachers and the communication they provide. Smaller school is able to give more one one one attention to the students. We love that they offer free tutoring Monday through Wednesday, which helps if your child may need a little more direction.

This school is racist, unhelpful, and barely has any moral codes. I used to attend this school and when there was a problem, the teachers lied and said they were going to do something about it. The teaching is good, but if you want your children to attend a racist school then you have been warned. 0 stars, DO NOT attend.

The overall experience at this school is negative. After 2 years we are making a change in schools. If you have a student that needs support as ours does since English is her second language they do not have the resources.

If you have a student who does not need any help and can be self taught this is the school for them. If your student needs any resources or needs help from teachers and administrators to succeed do not send them here.

We have been here now for 2 yrs and our kids have adapted well coming from a small Christian school. We like the friendships our kids have made. It's a very diverse atmosphere which I like. The teachers are mostly very good. Like any other school, some stand out as exceptional and then a few not as much. The standardized testing is something to adjust to, but kids adapt quickly. I like the sports program. They have a lot to offer as far as clubs, electives and AP classes. Our kids really like it, have 4.0 GPA, so it works for us.

WARNING! WARNING! Do not send your child to this school. Extremely low class sizes compared to other Charter schools, pick up/drop off is a nightmare!! No structure at all. Yes, new administration but nothing has changed. Less staff turnovers, but students are constantly leaving. The staff is very rude. The new principal is clueless and never knows what her administration is doing. Very inexperienced as a principal. She could use a few courses to sharpen her skills. This school only offers excuses for their poor leadership. Grand Valley State University should be embarrassed to be associated with Canton Prep.

Canton Prep has done an amazing job this year! Students are engaged, staff energetic, and the new Principal, Ms. Aquan Miles, is amazing. No teacher turnover this year.

As stated earlier, the school does have a very high teacher turnover rate, which is annoying to say the least. When one of my teachers left, the sub that was hired stayed for a week before leaving. . A lot of the teachers don't seem qualified and seem as though they were hired in a rush. Save your time and energy and don't go to this school.

Very interesting school to say the least. They loose about 1 teacher a month. Continuously suspend students for stupid things. The children have a hard time passing because of the constant turn over of teachers. I will be surprised how long this school stays open. Do yourself a favor and do not enroll your child into this school. The principal and vice principal do not have a clue on how to run a school.

It is college preparatory just as the name implies- no frill, no fluff. If you must have your son in football or daughter in cheer, look elsewhere. Having said that, Canton Township offers numerous avenues for extracurriculars so no big deal. My tenth grader has awesome teachers who connect with the children. My son is on track to take (and hopefully pass) eight AP courses. Not only are the AP courses helpful in passing the test, the volume of information learned is extraordinary and beyond what they learn in public schools. The only negative I can see, and observe at other charter schools, is the turnover rate. We already had one teacher leave in January. I just hope that CPHS is going to make teacher and staff retention a priority.
