Horrible school, please don;t go. Disgusting and unsanitary bathrooms, rusty water fountains, and expired school food. THe teachers are decent, but the People in charge, could care less about the school. The pricipal literally left for the ENTIRE YEAR. The school used to be amazing, and now its DIRT. D-I-R-TThis school is sad, and begs for money, too. We have to pay to wear casual, the USED to charge for the school food, and they charge parents if students are picked up late. Would not reccomend.- Alejandro Colon

Canton Charter is a great school. It is a safe place where your kids are taught and challenged at their own level. The teachers truly care about their students. The leadership and administrative team are an asset to this school. CCA is highly ranked and is a Blue Ribbon School and School of Excellence. My kids haven’t experienced any bullying here. Teachers work through and actually help students who have been bullied. I love the Moral Focus Virtues and lessons that are taught.

My sons love going to school here. All of the teachers that they have had have been wonderful. They challenge my kids beyond grade level and allow them to learn at their pace. They foster leadership and the principal is a strong leader.

Compared to our homeschool district, this school truly excels. My child is flourishing and I appreciate the compassion and accessibility to the faculty and staff to stay on top of what's going on within the school. My goal as a parent is to be active and aware. So I take it upon myself to inquire regularly or what certain scores obtain mean and how they're being scored. I have found the school to be quite welcoming, goal oriented and resourceful. The only low point for me would be classroom size. Although there is a teacher and an aide ( who has teacher certification) if I could change anything it would be to lower, the amount of students per class.

From my experience, Canton Charter Academy employs highly dedicated teachers who go above and beyond expectations to make sure every child is successful. They do not hesitate to communicate the great successes as well as issues that need follow up. The teachers and staff act on the moral focus values that are taught, teaching students how to be a successful community member. The office staff are the best around - always answering parent questions, taking parents on a tour of the school, attending to students who have forgotten a lunch, don't feel well, and are in need of extra attention, just to name a few. The diversity and community at Canton Charter academy make it a well rounded, friendly, safe envirnoment that helps my child thrive. All of these reasons make it the only place I would send my child.

I can't stress enough how amazing this school is. We had the pleasure of having Mrs. Scott for kindergarten and I couldn't imagine our lives without her now. We unfortunately had to move for this school year but we have RE applied for next yr. Mrs. Major is amazing too. Their special education program is fantastic. There is no better than CCA in my eyes. WE MISS YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!!

Amazing school! The staff is like a second family. My son has had amazing growth and loves school! I love that they incorporate moral focus in the curriculum and individualize work for the students. We are very proud to be apart of canton charter!

I am very sad to say that despite reading the reviews I chose this school and I regret it. I should have taken my child to her homeschool. The teachers do a pretty mediocre job and lack interest in teaching. The homework system and parent communication is not very good. They have some extracurricular clubs, thats one good thing. I have tried talking to the teacher and I don't think she cares. I read the most recent review and it almost sounds like something the school will say. If you don't like it why are you here. Unfortunately as a parent its hard to uproot a child and "go somewhere else" once the school year has started. I am surprised that the reviewer thinks that reviews are to bring a school down . Its not.. it is one parent trying to help another one out to make a good decision. I might move my child after this year but unfortunately we are stuck as of now.

The teachers are amazing! I love that they give personal attention to each child and have creative learning activities. I am THANKFUL that my child got into Canton. I love the new principal. She is friendly and approachable. I had a problem earlier this year with my child and she worked with me and the dean to resolve the problem. The parent wasn't helpful, but the school was.

I am unhappy with the curriculum and management. There is an increased focus in trying to get more money from families. The main problem with the school in there is no consistency in teacher standards. If your child gets a good teacher then he or she will excel. They prefer cookie cutter kids and do not have much tolerance for other kids. Some teachers have the patience and the willingness to help all kids while others could care less . Some families know who the good teachers are and request those teachers for their kids. You may be stuck with a bad teacher if you do not have inside information. Bullying is a major problem starting in kindergarten. Teachers and administration do turn a blind eye to most cases. No action is taken for verbal bullying. My child also picked up derogatory words from the playground from other kids as early as 1st grade which was a bit of a shock for me. My satisfaction with the school has decreased over the years.

Incompetent teachers. Bullying is a huge problem both verbal and physical. Verbal bullying is ignored. Kids use all kinds of bad words and no body checks them on it. Physical bullying is addressed if the student complains. But actions are not taken to prevent it from happening again. Poor teachers. They only care about a few students. If you complain to the Dean or principal they will tell you what you want to hear while you are there but then teachers actions do not change. the main reason for me to send my child to this school is for discipline but this school is terrible at both academics and moral focus. This school has had 3 principals in the last 6 years. I am taking my child to Workman elementary.

Over the years, and in the past, I use to believe that this school was great. But, after being here from k-8, this being my last year as an 8th grader, I must say: my opinion has changed. It's everything -- back in the day with Mrs. Williams and Henkenberns; it was good. Now, the curriculum has become worse, some teachers and staff are sexist, the layout of the school is inefficient, and the school year is no longer very educational and enjoyable. Let me explain; the school had decided to let girls wear leggings and jeggings, then banned it because a small some of people couldn't handle themselves. Then, they banned sweatpants for boys and girls; even though the boys did nothing wrong. Then, when it comes to a problem caused by 3 or 4 guys in the bathroom, the whole middle school's boys get blamed and nothing is done with the girls. Also, it takes around 20 minutes to leave the parking lot even if you come at first whistle (right away). If you don't pickup your child by 3:45 the school charges you $5-10. The school has also gotten rid of a lot of enjoyable events such as harvest day, the school is now less of an enjoyable learning experience and now an obligation. Also, if your looking for a safe, bully free learning environment -- look else where. There is much profanity language and harassment sent from student to student. Rumors and trash. And if the teacher likes the person bullying you (AKA popular girls), they wont do anything about it. They will ignore you and pretend to forget. So in conclusion, ignore the stats, those are old stats, look at Achieve or South Point, forget about the stats and the awards and reviews, they're old. I've been in this school and ever since Mrs. Henkenberns left, it has gone downhill. So, forget all about the great things you heard - and forget this school. I will say, however, this school isn't nearly as terrible as our neighboring South Canton Scholars or most public schools. If you can get into either private or certain charter schools, I will recommend this one. This school does still focus on education just not as much as before unfortunately. Not terrible, but not great. Just OKAY. 6/10 Overall.I only do this because of my true care for other students. No student deserves to be bullied, given sexist favor, and/or bias. I did, however, reconsider my review twice, and I think I've left it at the most fair position.

My kids have had the worst experience here. Most teachers have no interest in teaching. Kids have no discipline and respect for each other. No clubs for K-5 students until recently. Unless you are actively teaching your kids at home they can fall behind. I am moving my child from this school and they outright refused to fill out a behavioral survey that the new school requested. They are so worried about retaining their student that they won't co-operate when you decide to chose another school for you kids. This is only hurting the child because they cannot be placed with the best teacher at the new school. It shows that the administration does not care about the kids.

Average school. Standard has gone down over the years. Hopefully the new principal can turn things around. The curriculum is ok. Unorganized testing methods and grading system. I noticed the other comments about bullying and I agree that kids are really mean to each other. I am not sure if teachers or administration gets involved at all.
