Teachers are very involved with their students and the moral focus is very positive. I get a lot of updates from my sons teacher and haven't heard of issues with bullying or sports. The pickup/drop off isn't my favorite, but without a bus system I don't see how it could be much better- they do great getting people and kids through in a timely fashion and I haven't seen anything unsafe with it besides some parents on their phones instead of paying attention while waiting.

This school is very agitating. They do not seem to care about the status, health, or safety of their students. They seem to care more about guidelines and regulations than the experience the child will remember for the rest of their life. For example, in their P.E. class they do not care about health conditions or physical ability. They do not take the time to sit down and talk with say, a non-athletic student. Instead, they blame students for their mistakes and, don't do anything when students with higher skill level bully them. I do believe that they are effective in teaching their students, I think some of their teaching methods are cruel and abusive. Their saftey rules and regulations are over the top and strict. For example, you aren't allowed to even touch other people. That can ruin sports like, football, soccer, and basketball. Also, when a student gets injured playing a sport, they often resort to banning the sport for some time, ruining people's recces. Overal, bad school.

This school has a horrible drop off/pick up arrangement! Very challenging and unsafe. Sometimes, we get to school on time and get held back in line up to 10 minutes! Ridiculous!

I realize now that this school is only interested in my child for one reason - the per student stipend received from the state.

We have had a wonderful experience at ACA for the past 3 years. The teachers and principal are great and always care about the students. We love ACA.

Our girls have been in Achieve for 7 years now. They absolutely love the teachers, friends, environment. As parents we feel they are getting proper education and learn great values. The only concern is great teacher turn over and limited electives in middle school. Hoping something will be done to improve that in coming years.

It was ok but definitely not as good as the TAG programs if your child is gifted. I am a high achieving student( one of the best in the grade) and sometimes I feel as if none of my friends really understand me. They only come to me for help on homework or tests. I just have different viewpoints than them and it makes me depressed that no one really gets me. The environment is just so tightly knit and that I just want to meet new people that I can relate too. I would say there is less bullying than a typical Michigan school but it definitely still exists. This school does not have a variety of electives. Credits for taking courses such as algebra 1, geometry, and foreign languages do not count towards highschool. So even if your child already took the course, they still have to take a placement test. Teachers are constantly leaving midway through the school year causing inconsistencies in your child’s learning. The subs know less than the students do so the only way we are able to learn is through our peers. The new teachers hired are often inexperienced, they do not know how to take control of a classroom or teach. I have not had a science teacher for months now( he left) The students here are awfully immature, constantly telling inappropriate jokes. ACA also doesn’t teach basic health courses so your child will be clueless(like I was) unless you teach them. Overall if your child is gifted, have them take the TAG test before you send them here, otherwise they might be depressed like I was. This school is ok but there are a lot of problems with it. I personally feel trapped here but I know it will be the right fit for some students. Just note that the teachers are either inexperienced or about to leave, and ACA does not provide a lot of essential courses. I can’t wait to got to highschool

(This is my experience, things might have changed but who knows.)This is towards the middle school section at ACA (6-8):This middle school does not have a vast array of electives considering that electives are only 30 minutes long. I believe that electives would be beneficial if the school gave any value towards the classes. The school mainly focuses on math and english. Math would be the only class that has a set concrete curriculum. Science and social studies where every other day, which I thought was rather odd considering that it wouldn’t prepare us towards high school. Most teachers would go off topic a lot, and the teachers are all fairly new and inexperienced. The school does not have the option to take high school classes (ex. Spanish) that makes you ahead in 9th grade. Sports: not taken seriously for those kids that like athletics. When I was in middle school the average game won for soccer and volleyball was 1-2 games. Food: Sometimes served undercooked or overcooked, but it is cheap. Environment: There was a lot of bullying and teacher would usually just shrug it off. The teachers I had used to gossip about disobedient students. Also teachers would provide extra help after school, however it was paid. In public school there is so much aid but everything is non-profit. Teachers would meddle in the students personal life (ex. dating, family problems) If you are scared that you don’t want your 12-14 year old kid to be exposed to drugs/ bullying that isn’t something you can control. If you don’t make them aware of what is occurring in the world/ around them they will be more susceptible into peer pressure. (Drugs are everywhere) I had to learn all those things on my own because this school doesn’t teach sex education. High amounts of racism.

I have nothing but great things to say about this school. Academically speaking, your child will be more than adequately prepared for high school and beyond.

My daughter has been attending this school for seven years since Kindergarten. We are satisfied with it. It is well managed and organized. They pay great attention to mortal focus and academia. my daughter likes it. I wish the school can provide more differentiated education to advanced students.
