We feel so fortunate that our child attended PS 10. The teachers our child had were experienced and passionate educators. Principal Laura Scott is devoted to making her school serve its community. Our child decided they are non-binary at the end of third grade. When I suggested bringing in the Ackerman Institute to do a training for the staff, Principal Scott did that. And when, in our last year, I suggested that the school should have a GSA Club for 4th and 5th graders, Vice Principal Gary Nusser jumped on board, and Principal Scott matched me up with a teacher (rock star 2nd grade teacher Maribeth Dono) who spearheaded that effort. We started the program with five kids, and had sixteen within a month or two. The kids marched in Brooklyn Pride this year-- such a validating experience for them. But that's just the sort of administration this school has. Vigorous to give their students have a safe, supportive, top notch education.

This school is a nightmare for parents of children of color. The administration allows bullying and intimidation to occur right under their noses because they are afraid to stand up to teachers and parents because of the PTA funding. Children of color at this school are often left out of most activities and teachers and staff treat students of color differently usually like sub-human children. In most grades, there are a group of children that become the favorites and they are always children of non-color and they become the only children that staff and teachers focus on. Children are color are often treated with contempt and are rarely treated with compassion and are often viewed as problems or just in the way. What makes matter worse is that the administration tries to keep the peach by making parents of children of color too keep quiet about incidents that occur at the school to appease teachers and other parents at the cost of children of color self-esteem and worth. The school needs to address the ongoing racism, bullying, and the teachers that ignore or condemn children of color. I wish the DOE would spend real time at this school or simply interview children of color and their parents to get the real scoop on what goes on here.

I adore this school! After almost a decade at PS10, I can only say good things. Great community, great administration, great teachers. PS10 has played such a strong role in my children's formative years. It's a diverse, creative, environment where kids are given all the tools they need to explore the world around them. As a visiting relative said, "It's what every elementary school should be. " It truly feels like a family. So glad we landed at 10!

My oldest daughter was, in PS 131 and let me say her experience and mine was horrible. I was scared, for my middle child to go there. Then God, answer my prayers they were over crowded and P.S. 10 had room and wanted my princess. I heard, wonderful thing's about this school. From, the day of registration to now this school has exceed my expectation. There administration, is so kind and on point. My child teacher, Mrs. Camastro is "Amazing" I never met such a kind, smart and wonderful teacher. My child adores her, and that is speaking volumes. I would recommend this school to anyone. There PTA is amazing, the parents and children are so wonderful. They deserve 10 out of 10. Keep up, the great work, your school rocks!!

This school is a not so hidden secret anymore. It has a strong but open leadership. The teachers are professional, friendly, and attuned to the children's needs. We have literacy and math coaches that work with the teachers for best practices. We have music, science, computer, art, and physical education classes. The physical space is large and we have a gymnasium, cafeteria and auditorium. We have outdoor space for recess. Field trips and assemblies are part of the package. The school is diverse in so many ways. The PTA is a powerhouse that really puts forth the effort to run an after school program that is well attended and affordable. They try to keep the fundraising fun, and support enrichment programs that bring in a lot of the arts programs at the school. The PTA helps with teacher professional development. The school believes in whole child education and it shows. My children are very happen with the school and love their teachers and friends. I can walk them to school.

The comments: "PS 10 is what happens when school administration, teachers and parents work together to give children all they need. It's a great learning environment..." very accurately captures the ethos of this school. Our son has enjoyed IMMENSELY the 6 years there. I would recommend this school as an awesome choice for any parent whose child has a strong desire to learn and develop. I wish Ms. Scott and her team continued success.

PS 10 has it's bright spots, though it's very easy for individual students to get lost in the shuffle due to it's size/bureaucracy (though some of this is the fault of the NYC DOE). I've found the parent-teacher coordinator to be unpleasant, but the rest of the staff are caring and try their best, and the PTA is very active.

My son was struggling w/adjusting to his new life at PS 10. When it began to influence his behavior and impact his academics, the school went above and beyond to make US feel welcome. Never have I seen a school take so much interest in wanting a child to succeed. I owe his transformation to Mrs. Principal, for taking such special interest and care; to Mrs. Assist. Principal, for taking him under her wing; to Mr. School Counselor, for his guidance & help in getting him the outside resources he needed; and his wonderful Teachers, who were never "too busy" to sit down w/me. The administration & the teachers at PS 10 are true Educators. My son is in the 4th grade now & LOVES going to school. He's a changed kid. We could not be any happier.

We have been delighted with our 6 years at PS 10. The principal, assistant principal and staff are amazing; the teachers are dedicated and the student body is diverse. The parents are very involved and it feels like everything an excellent neighborhood school should be.

ps10 is perhaps the best NY public school I have encountered. And with admission the way it is right now that's a lot of schools to compare against.

I can safely say we lucked out finding this school. I've currently started looking for Junior High Schools in the Park Slope area and I've attended a few workshops provided by my employer. When asked the school my daughter attends, I mention PS 10 and the reactions are always positive. Even got a high five once....
