Our three boys currently attend SSCA, under the effective leadership of principal Sue Walsh. The teachers are very well-qualified, responsive to the children (they "meet the kids where they are") and assign an appropriate / varying levels of homework. The small size of the very diverse student body (less than 400 kids from early childhood (3 years old) to eighth grade allows each student to know one another and to be known by the teachers/administrators. There are never any "back to school nerves" at our house! Excellent music program, afterschool enrichment classes + afterschool care available. Though we have very good public schools in the area, there is no comparison to the quality of what SSCA provides. Easy to access on F, G train (lots of kids travel on public transportation/school bus). Kids have time outside either in an "open streets" access or via a short walk to Prospect Park. Very devoted parents/alumni. Current 8th grade class has received a small fortune in scholarships to top Catholic + specialized high schools. A gem of a school. Check it out!

Our son enrolled in 6th grade at SSCA and it was the best academic and social decision we have ever made for our child. Coming from a non-religious family and starting a school where many of the students already know each other, we had our concerns. By the end of the first day, we had nothing to worry about. The warm and welcoming student body, teachers, and staff made our transition from public school free of anxieties. We love the small class size and class pets! The art and music teachers are incredible (he’s literally composing music). Our son enjoys lunch and gym at Prospect Park (weather permitting). He finds the uniform actually makes his mornings easier and appreciates dress down days to feature his street clothes. Even though Covid-19 disrupted his 6th grade, the transition to remote learning was seamless as they were already utilizing Google Classroom. Covid-19 continued to also make things challenging in 7th grade, however he went to school on a hybrid schedule and eventually full time towards the end of the school year. Where our older daughter in public school did not attend in-person for months at a time, our son was able to continue his education safely with live instruction and socialization with his peers. Our son is now in 8th grade, and will be attending one of the best NYC Catholic high schools in the fall. Several of his friends will also be attending the same high school, which is an absolute gift. We are forever grateful for Saint Saviour Catholic Academy!

Living in NYC there is something special about having a close knit school community. SSCA has been an amazing, nurturing environment for my kids and for our family.

We have been part of the SSCA family for 6 years now.The teachers at SSCA are very devoted, skilled and highly qualified at challenging each child to excel academically at their own pace, and they truly care about engaging every one of their students. The entire staff and teachers are very approachable, welcoming, kind, respectful and supportive.SSCA succeeds expectations on embracing diversity and individuality. At SSCA you really get the sense of being part of a community. There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer and be part of this community. For the past 6 years I have participated in many different events, and I can truly say that kids are genuinely excited to be in school. They are eager to learn, and to be actively engaged in the classroom and in school activities. All the students are taught to show respect and kindness towards each other, their teachers, the staff, and the community. Not only this shows on every student, but it’s something that comes naturally to them. SSCA is a place where kids feel included, motivated, encouraged, and inspired. Both of my kids love their school, and all of us as a family feel blessed to be part of this amazing community.

St. Saviour Cathloic Academy is a lovely school with caring and attentive teachers. Our daughter (6th grade) and son (1st grade) both attend the school. Words can’t express how amazing our experience has been with their academic progress and the support their teachers have provided.

Our experience at SSCA is nothing short of fabulous. Our daughter started in September and we are beyond pleased with our decision to send her here. The anxiety of starting a new school in 5th grade and during these unprecedented times of COVID added to our apprehension. We were impressed on the 1st day with the safety protocol, caring environment and especially grateful for the in person education this year.As full-time working parents, it was very important for us to place her in a setting that could provide her with a strong academic base, a place where she could feel like she belonged, and most importantly, a school where we knew she would be safe. Coming from a large public school, we find the entire staff and teachers at SSCA to be welcoming, devoted and skilled at challenging each child to excel academically at their own pace. I know she will continue to advance in her education. SSCA feels more like a good family and we highly recommend SSCA.

My daughter, who is now in the 4th grade, has been going to SSCA since Nursery - 3 years old. I love that the school feels like a tight-knit community. Everyone knows one another and is warm and kind. It's very easy to contact and communicate with the teachers, staff and principal - always a response in less than 24 hours. Learning is the lower grades was great because, in certain subjects, they would group children together based on their level and work with each group. The classes are well paced and not rushed like many other schools.

I have sent all three of my children to St. Saviour, beginning in nursery school. I currently have one child in Grade 7, one child in Grade 4 and one child in Grade 1. We have been so lucky to have St. Saviour open for in person education through the pandemic and we are so grateful to the teachers and staff for maintaining a safe, nurturing and steady environment over the last year. My children are happy to go to school every day - St. Saviour does a wonderful job creating a warm, supportive environment. My children know all the teachers, the teachers know them, and our family. The academics are challenging, but the school works hard to support children of all abilities. If I have a question, or any type of issue, the teachers and school principal are accessible and responsive.

My daughter just started St. Saviour this year in kindergarten. While I don't have long term experience, I am very pleased with the school -- the teachers, the administration -- so far. My daughter has learned a lot, including learning to sound out words and write stories, which she loves doing. Her teachers are very competent, they have the children do real school work, but the kids seem happy. The school has a friendly and supportive vibe which shows through despite COVID restrictions!

This school is nothing short of amazing. We send both our boys to SSCA and they both love the school, the environment, their friends and teachers. They both started when they were 4 years old in the nursery program and now one is in 1st grade and the other in Pre-K. The curriculum is very strong and they are constantly learning and showing great progress as young students. The Catholic faith is presented and integrated very effectively and both my kids enjoy this aspect. Additionally, the school has also done a fantastic job dealing with the pandemic. During the initial shut down, their Zoom and Google classroom curriculum was great and our kids were always engaged and showed consistent progress. When the school reopened in the Fall, the Acadamy was on point with following protocol and keeping kids safe. Everything was always fully communicated with the parents and our kids quickly adopted to the new rules within the school which is a testament to the instructors. For us, Saint Saviour is just perfect, from the small class size, to the to the neighborhood environment to everything I mentioned above. We look forward to continuing our two boy's education there and for any perspective parents considering this school, we highly recommend them!

Both of my boys joined SSAC in Nursery and Kindergarten. The entire staff is so welcoming and made us feel as part of the community right away.My kids go to school with a big smile and we are amazed how quick they are learning the basics of writing and reading but most importantly the good values conveyed by their teachers.

My eldest child was admitted to elementary school - first grade - at Saint Saviour Catholic Academy and graduated from middle school. I cannot fully express how amazing was his experience. He was nurtured by his teachers, who were keen in getting him to embrace knowledge and responsibility. They made it possible for him to discover an enduring love for reading, history and maths. They also allowed him to learn to read music, play and instrument, be part of a chorus, and practice and understand art. All of this, in an ambiance of respect and conviviality. My daughter has enjoyed the same experience for four years now.Every teacher at Saint Saviour is fully engaged with a mission to help kids attain their best goals. They go beyond the call of duty. And what to say about the administrators and staff: each of them have also for mission to create a school with standards well above any other. You truly cannot find a better, more kind or helpful team. When Covid closed schools, the transition to virtual learning was seamless and took place the very next school day. After schools could reopen, Saint Saviour had been so well prepared. As in everything, they excel in safety standards and proper protocols. My son applied to high school in New York, both at public and private institutions. He was admitted to a number of them and chose to go to Regis High School. I credit Saint Saviour with his being admitted to Regis, for they literally made him into the boy who could aspire to such a possibility. I recommend Saint Saviour Catholic School wholeheartedly.

My family has been a part of the SSCA community for the last 4 years. My children love their school and I have seen them flourish both academically as well as socially and emotionally. They are genuinely excited to go to school each morning. They are eager to learn, to participate, and to be actively engaged in the classroom. At SSCA, they are safe. They are included. They are encouraged. They are inspired. Their teachers are aware of their individual needs as well as those of their friends. And despite all of the challenges a global pandemic has brought - none of that has changed.

Hard to believe the feedback provided by a parent on June 4, 2014. Children are allowed in the school at 8. Early bird programs are available in other schools for a fee. It's not free!! You have the option to pay each quarter for a year or pay a one time drop-off fee. This school is wonderful. Our son has been attending the early bird program and the after school program since he was in Nursery. The teachers are very attentive, small children learn to play and study together as a group. Our son's social skills, communication skills, vocabulary, cognitive and motor skills have developed drastically during his school year in Nursery. Parents are very involved and so is the principal, who I have seen few times in the classroom. Our son is looking forward to going back to school in September!

This school is horrible. Staff trhows kids out in frigid temperature if they enter the building before 8:15 am. They charge an extra $ 1000 more just to drop my daughter 30 minutes before school starts. I took my daughter out of this school at the end of the school year because I could not stand the teachers incompetencies. The students are very weak becaus emany teacher are collecting just a pay check and they do not care about my daughter's grade. FOR every homewok, the teacher just gave my daughter a check and I asked the teacher for her comments she was very upset and stating my daughter copied her HW somewhere. The students have poor social cognition skills. They are not able to work cooperatively in group. they are also very weak academically. I will never recommend this school to any one and I will not hire these teachers to teach not even my dog. Parent who fail to notice what I see are not really involved in their kids' education. The principle had to reimburse me my money and I AM grateful that she did that for me.
